USSR invades Finland in November 30, with intentions to push the border to the west and installing a puppet regime in the country. The operation becomes extremely costly for the Soviet side, as it is the coldest winter in years and Finns only pick battles they could win.

At Suomussalmi, The Red Army attempts to cut the country in two, but is instead split in many small pockets which are destroyed one by one. In the end, 4-5 times larger Russo-Ukrainian force is defeated and their equipment captured.

A breakthrough at Mannerheim line makes the defending harder in the southeast, and a peace treaty is signed. Soviets gain half of Finnish Karelia, but the Finnish army is now much better equipped. Peace was not meant to last.

"Peace was not meant to last" No, it was not, but during this time period legends like Simo Hayha (the white death) and Lauri Törni or Larry Thorne (the man who served in 3 armies), began to emerge.
