Battle of Grebbeberg was one of the first and biggest major engagements in Invasion of Netherlands. 11th of May the Germans assaulted the bunkers, and in following two days the Dutch attempted a counterattack. With lack of rations, water and men their attack was doomed against an elite W-SS Brigade.

Dutch army was not well prepared for an invasion, for it was expected that the country could stay neutral like in WW1. Bombing of Rotterdam forced the Netherlands to capitulate after a week of fighting, province of Zealand resisted for a day longer with French help.
