Ehhh here goes a little honesty— I do like to open up to you guys once in a while and be less than Batman.

The world is changing fast and it’s got me a little down today. People I encounter are getting colder, less friendly, less caring by the day and it is starting to weigh on me. Like… I’m actually CRAVING kindness. Is that weird?

Guys…. Be mindful of that when you’re out and about. If you work in the service industry, don’t make your customers feel like a burden. Make them feel seen and cared for. If you’re a customer at a restaurant, don’t make the staff feel like shit. Be warm and kind and appreciative that they’re working to serve you.


Open doors for people. Smile at them as they walk by. Compliment someone’s shirt or shoes if you happen to notice and like what they’re wearing. Be thinking of small ways you can make the people around you feel seen and special for even just a minute. If everyone did that, oi would this world change.

We may not know each other "in real life," but everyone on this post recognized your comments and took a few minutes to express some kind words. I hope you take each one of these comments (including mine) as a big virtual hug and that it helped subdue your craving at least a little bit. I feel the same Ben. I work in a restaurant and I always try to have a smile on my face and try to make a customer’s day even if they aren’t the friendliest. I have been taught do unto others and you would do unto yourself. Lots of hugs for any one who needs one!☺️❤️

I really feel like sometimes that’s the only type of people I run into irl. However, I still try my best to be a kind and caring person, even if sometimes it feels like I shouldn’t even bother to be that way. But then again, those people who show just a hint of appreciation still make it worth it. (also sorry if that doesn’t completely make sense, had a very long and hard day 😅)

People have become desensitised to everything nowadays and I believe it’s because of the social media. Almost everything has become a joke or something to laugh about unfortunately. Whenever I feel sad or stressed I go and hang out with my little nephews. It really helps! If you have nephews, I really recommend you to do the same, Ben.

Well said! I always try to be nice but recently I've been called a fraud for trying to fundraise for a service dog and faking my disabilities for attention. I walk with a cane permanently now. All I can say is PMA and love each other.

I like being friendly and kind to people, especially if I feel down myself. It's my way of giving "fate" the finger. I don't know why people don't see how good it feels for yourself to do something good and kind for someone else. It's astounding how many people you can surprise nowadays just by smiling friendly or giving up a bus seat. Giving warmth ang kindness is so much more rewarding right in the moment than jealousy could ever be.

Pleas know how valued you are. It’s so important. Life has been really hectic in the past few years. It is so easy to get bogged down and take it out on other people. Doesn’t make it right I know for me in particular so much happened my stepdad got cancer then he started to recover he had two strokes and got cancer again and died just after Christmas. My brother also got stabbed early last year. He survived thankfully and we lost three of the fur kids due to different illnesses and old-age. We now have 14 and I find they are very therapeutic. If you have animals and loved ones for that matter please hold them close it will help you both. While all this is going on I’m conscious that I may get sidetracked so when there are problems with anything customer services related I always try and reassure the worker I know there’s a problem and you’re trying to help but it’s not your fault it’s due to the bigger system that the problem is occurring I’m not blaming you at all. It’s became really important recently. I think in this day and age as well it’s important when talking to someone to give the impression that they are the only person in the world that matters for that time. Ben, even though you are talking to a wide audience you really are good at that. Please remember you are a treasure.xx

I'm so sorry you're having a rough time right now Ben. I too am having a rough time lately. I work at an animal shelter. I see and hear so much grief and dispare when animals are brought in sick or injured, the sadness when there owners surrender them because they could no longer take care of them anymore or just dont want the anymore. But when the animals make a turn for the better, come out of their shells, and give unconditional love, it's totally worth all the long long days caring for them and helping find their forever homes😊❤🐱🐶

I work as a massage therapist, so of course I was out of work through almost all of 2020. When we finally came back people were just so happy to come in and be cared for that we were booked out months in advance. A lot of times they wanted to talk about literally anything and my regulars asked for hugs. I was so thankful not only to get back to work for the paycheck but also to see all these people who I had zero contact with for over a year after seeing some of them every week.
