2 is definitely something different. I like it.

I want to say 2 because I'm a sucker for long hair but I will admit that without the fluffiness it almost doesn't even look like Sam.

I like both designs a lot; I might like 2 more, but 1 is a bit more unique. I could see design 2 being confused for a couple different OCs, but 1 is it's own entity, for sure.
