An apology, and some clarifications (Patreon)

Hi lovely people, I wanted to sit down and adress some concerns and constructive feedback that have been brought up in regards to the launch on the new tiers.The first 10 minutes is adressing the changes in the tiers and some pricing. The rest is adressing the community on Discord and the concern surrounding the changes there.

I have never commented before, as I’m usually a quiet user. I’ve been following you on YouTube for quite some time, but I only joined Patreon last month. I have to admit, the recent changes really took me by surprise—perhaps because I’m still “new” and suddenly everything feels different. I think the timing was a bit unfortunate, but of course, that’s not your fault. Over the past few days, I’ve been reflecting a lot on how to proceed because your audios have brought me so much comfort over time. Unfortunately, due to various reasons, I have to be very careful financially. BUT at the same time, I truly value the work and effort you put into your audios, and I genuinely want to support you and give something back. I think it shows great character that you respond to criticism and admit when mistakes have been made. Whatever the journey ahead holds here, I’m looking forward to everything that’s still to come and hope it brings you lots of positive experiences. ❤️

I know I'm probably gonna repeat what has already been said. Nevertheless I really want to give you back what you deserve for the comfort and "entertainment" you provide for us with your audios. But as you said, times are what they are at the moment, which makes it a financial difficult time for everybody. Including you and us as your community. Personally I'm gonna have to look over my expenses and then make a decision on what to do regarding my membership. This isn't meant to be personal or an "offense" against you as a creator and human with expenses, just like everybody else. But my monthly subscription expenses (overall) are sitting at about 300€ currently, and with how things are developing globally, I don't think those expenses are going down by themselves anytime soon.

I think it's great (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)⁠♡ Your content has always been so very helpful, supportive, and comforting. And tbh...I always thought you were undercharging too. I think the new change reflects the hard work you put in and I'm grateful to be able to support you in that way monetarily. I was also a little shocked with the change but hindsight is always 20/20 right? I'm happy you also seemed to give yourself some longer stretches of "break times" with the new schedule. Even with the added new content, hopefully this takes some more stress off of you as well. ^_^

Firstly, I want to say thank you so much for the clarification and explanation. It was indeed a lot to digest and things did feel pretty up in the air with how it would be and why it would be that way. To take accountability for a misstep in communication is brave and tells me what kind of a person you are, which is a good one. Secondly, (this is certainly late considering the circumstances, the sudden changes hit me a bit hard so I didn't know what to really type.) I want to say that yes, it was something with a lot of changes very quickly. I do think as with others, you're undercharging and believe me, I definitely can understand increasing prices. One of the first steps of respecting your work is to price yourself fairly. I think for me, I was really in a pickle for what to do. The community has been there for me (and I know very many others) for a long time and in some really dark times in my life. Its not something small for me to say I adore each and every one of you, and you mean more to me than I think I could express. I think it was so ingrained into my routine and others for the weekly hangouts, knowing that is going away was indeed something heavy to process. I know my neurodivergent brain was stuck trying to figure out how things were going to be after the announcement. A part of me personally gets a bit fearful the new hangouts will be during Saturdays only (Saturdays are my second job work days) but in all honesty, this is new and I think thats just my brain jumping to conclusions. But, I can also agree that being present on discord at that level is hard to maintain. To be frank with you, it always surprised me you and Mr. Mod Man could keep up with it consistently as you did. I think I'd even argue that with things as they've been recently, it is still a bit more consistent than I would expect. I remember back in the day B.M.H (before Mini hang out) in reality we DID only do about two to three hangouts per month. I just think the tonal/sudden shift of going from a consistent two times a week to a month is a significant change so people might have gotten anxious about it. I know from members I keep in touch with, it was a really hard thing to feel like they're losing within just a few days amongst other things. A few of us agreed that it would have been better with prior communication and discussion and it seems that sudden shift could've been landed a bit softer. But as I stated, you are taking genuine accountability and for that as a long time member, I thank you and forgive you. I'm sure the community does as well. Thirdly and lastly, and the most important. As always I support you. Its a big and exciting yet scary thing to start growing in anything. Even something as silly as growing plants (no green thumb here). Theres always something new to learn and you might make a mistake here and there. But hey, its a learning process and thats okay. I wish you and the community nothing but the absolute best, because people as kind as you deserve to be elevated to the highest level and to succeed. Ha, anyways this was really long, many thoughts in porps head. I hope you're taking care of yourself after this, I know its a lot🫂

I wanted to upgrade to the Getting Closer tier but I had my subscription set to annual. Seems like I can only upgrade when my annual subscription ends😔 I’ll wait though! I love your content, so I think it’s worth it. I’ll just have to see all the new stuff when I can resubscribe👍

Hello there Sarah, I meant to write this comment yesterday but I want to take the time to say that I’m very proud of you for stepping up along with taking the time to apologize for what happened with these changes along with trying to clear things up as best as you possibly could! I think that’s truly courageous and mature of you to take accountability for your mistakes which shows what a great person you are because let’s face it, everyone makes mistakes but it’s taking responsibility and owning up to them along with the time to learn from them that truly matters most! I’ll be honest with you, these changes definitely came with a major shock especially with how quickly they happened but I totally understand wanting to change things up if it helps you earn more money from your content in order to be able to keep making all the stuff that you already do along with the new stuff as well and you have every right to price yourself more fairly for all the hard work, dedication, time, effort and love you put into everything that you create, I just wish you would’ve said something sooner about the whole money situation because I believe that your members/community would’ve understood a whole lot better than the course of action you took with surprising everyone with the changes from out of nowhere. I hope everything goes well with your new endeavors and maybe I may possibly consider checking them out at some point in the future. 🫂 I can’t comment on the Discord side of these changes since I’ve never joined it before so I honestly have no idea what things were like there or what usually goes on in there either but I applaud you for stepping up and setting up some boundaries because based on what you were saying, it sounded like a lot to do multiple hangouts every week in addition to creating multiple audios every week as well on top of everything with your job and your personal/social life too. It pretty much sounded like a recipe for another burnout like you’ve had multiple times before in the past and not sustainable for the long term so I believe you made the right decision to reduce the amount of hangouts because to be honest, the amount of hangouts that you used to do over on YouTube in the past felt a lot more manageable than the number that there was occurring on the Discord for a long time now so I’m really happy to see that you’re giving yourself some well deserved breaks from everything so that you can focus on yourself and maybe giving your bun buns some more love/attention! 🐰🐰❤️❤️ Hopefully that takes some stress off of your shoulders because you truly deserve it with everything that you’re already doing! 🫂 Once again thank you for taking the time to sit down and make this audio to help everyone understand what was going to actually happen along with taking accountability/responsibility for your mistake/minor lapse in communication, it truly shows tremendous bravery and character to respond to the constructive feedback plus criticism the way that you did especially with such great care, understanding, empathy and love that we all know you have deep down in your heart and soul. While I don’t mind the new tiers, I want to be honest with you in that I respectfully disagree with the new “Choosing You” tier. While I can understand you wanting to bring back personalized audios as an additional revenue source to help make your content more profitable so you can deliver better quality to your supporters, limiting it to only this new tier in my personal opinion is extremely unfair considering how one of your own personal values is fairness for all of your members and having it only accessible to a select group of individuals is not fair (especially since it’s already sold out) because it kinda feels like the complete opposite of that value in my eyes, not to mention that it also feels like you’re catering a bit to those people who sign up for that tier as well. In my opinion, I think it should’ve been brought back as an optional purchase so that way everyone could have a chance to purchase personalized audios if they wanted to. Plus to make it even more fair while also allowing you time to make them and enjoy making them as well, you could limit the amount of personalized content you make each month so that if a member wanted to receive a personalized audio from you but didn’t get the chance to for a specific month, they could get another opportunity the following month. This is just a helpful suggestion from a longtime supporter who wants to see you grow while also helping keep things fair for everyone even if I haven’t been around as much as I used to be or not having listened to audios (at least ASMR-wise) since around Christmas time of 2024. 🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂 P.P.S. hey sarah! this might be my first time commenting as i’m a silent subscriber but have been here for a while. i truly appreciate your work so much and honestly there’s no one that does it like you do. i’ll still be staying as a paid member, but i wanted to check if you’d still do patreon exclusives that are not bedtime stories / “i see you”. basically would love more audios that are like previous exclusives outside of those “genres” e.g. comfort, etc. if not, would you consider adding those as a possible tier benefit or something you can work out? totally understand if that’s not something you’d take on more but just wanted to throw out the suggestion because those are my favourites. 🥹

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this. I really appreciate the care behind it, 🫂and I do hear you. I completely understand that the changes felt sudden and that is something I’ve taken to heart. Even though the changes themselves are something I still believe are necessary and right for the future of Patreon, I do understand that I could have communicated the transition more gently and with more notice. That is something I’ll learn from moving forward. I also really appreciate what you said about the Discord hangouts and sustainability. That was a big part of the decision. I love spending time with everyone, but I also have to make sure I’m creating a structure I can realistically keep up with long-term and were I can truely show up in a way that feels the best. For the Choosing You tier, I hear what you’re saying. The reason it is limited is not because I want to exclude anyone or make anyone feel less valued. It is because personalized audios take a very different kind of time, energy, and care, and I only want to offer them in a way that I know I can actually sustain and do properly. I would rather keep it small and intentional than overpromise and risk the quality or my ability to keep up with it. I understand that an optional purchase model may feel more open. For now, though, I’m trying this structure because it gives me clearer limits and helps me protect the time needed to make those audios feel personal and thoughtful. And yes, I do still care about feedback. I may not always use polls for every decision, especially when something is connected to sustainability, pricing, workload, or business structure, but I do still read feedback and take it seriously.

I’m very grateful to hear that and thank you, that means a lot. 🥹 Absolutely, like I said before, you’re only human but I really appreciate you learning from this and moving forward because that’s what matters so don’t worry about it, clean slate. It was a bigger shock for me personally since I haven’t listened to any ASMR from you in nearly a year and a half but still wanted to support you as well at the same time. I fully understand wanting to make sure that you can continue to create content in a more sustainable way for yourself while also offering more content on top of that so no problem there. 😉 No worries! To be honest, I was actually really worried about you regarding how many hangouts you were in alongside creating content in addition to your own life because I personally felt like you were overcommitting/stretching yourself too thin which in my eyes seemed like a recipe for another burnout like you’ve had in the past and I didn’t want to see you go through that again. I care about you a lot but I don’t want to see you stress yourself out trying to do everything that you already do in a short timeframe. Exactly, a few times a month maximum like you used to do with the YouTube hangouts feels much more manageable and enjoyable. Again I can’t really comment about the Discord since I’ve never joined it personally so I don’t know what anything in it was like (including the hangouts) but I feel that you made the right decision by setting some intentional boundaries. Not to mention that it also allows more people a chance to join them depending on when they occur if they previously couldn’t join due to their schedules. I completely understand/hear your perspective on the Choosing You tier. There’s a lot that goes into creating personalized audios so it makes sense to limit the number of people for that so that you can create them in a sustainable way without overwhelming/stressing yourself out. This is a suggestion for sometime in the future that in my perspective feels appropriate/more reasonable which would allow you to be able to create personalized audios in a sustainable way for yourself while also allowing it to be fair for others as well, maybe you can look into letting people take turns for the Choosing You tier each month so that way you can continue to create personalized audios while also allowing others to have a chance to receive one as well instead of it being the same members over and over again each month. Again just a helpful suggestion from a longtime member. 🫂 I’m really glad to hear that you still do care about that, the main reason why I was asking about the polls was because I happened to notice that it’s been more than a year since you last did one (at least on Patreon that I know of), I was just curious as to whether or not you actually still did made them from time to time but I completely hear/understand your perspective as to why you don’t do it for those things, but I’m happy that you still take feedback as seriously as you do. I personally felt that it didn’t seem like enough time for everyone to figure out which one of the new tiers that they felt was appropriate for them to join financially because everyone’s schedules are different so they might not have time to look things over before the prices go up permanently due to how busy they may be.
