It’s actually spelled both ways!

Noah ASMR

Color is the more American spelling

kexuan han

it depends!! american spelling is "color" but the english spelling is "colour" :)

Robin

I'd say black n white fits well if it's centred around depression comfort, it sort of establishes what the mood is yk? Also, I'm constantly switching between color and colour XD I prefer colour personally

Jest

England/UK spelling would be colour but we Americans are too impatient and we deleted the "u" out of that word, ahahaha

Skyler

Basically, dropping the u in the words colour, favourite, armour and such is something done in American English whereas in most other places they’re kept. No idea why. But you can spell it either way.

Donald Strohm Jr

Both spellings are actually correct! I would say that color is used more often in the USA where colour is used more frequently across the rest of the world but it works either way. I personally prefer the colour version because it feels a little bit more hopeful, not to mention it also makes it a little bit easier to read the text in the thumbnail on mobile because black on black/gray could be difficult to make out what is said I actually really enjoy your polls so please post them as long as you feel comfortable! :)

It is both correct. Words like 'colour,' 'favour,' and 'neighbour' are all British English, while the same words without the 'U' are American English. There are many myths regarding the etymology of these different spellings, such as the belief that newspaper prints in their early days attempted to be efficient with ink or that all the people who colonized the US came from a distinct part of the UK, which already had these spellings. However, none of these are backed by historical data. What is supported by data, which can be found in the Oxford Dictionary or Merriam-Webster, are the efforts of various American lexicographers and writers during the 18th and 19th centuries. One famous example is Noah Webster, who sought a distinct American identity and proposed spelling reforms. He is best known for his dictionary published in 1828, which aimed to focus on pronunciation. This included dropping letters obsolete in spoken language, such as the 'U' in the aforementioned words or the positioning of the 'R' in words like 'Theater' and 'metre/meter,' although 'metre' at the time had not gained the popularity it has now, given the prevalence of the imperial system. Simultaneously, the UK was undergoing spelling reforms as well, but in a different direction, aiming for tradition. Hence, the two different spellings. Neither is wrong, especially not on the internet.

das dsa

The colored one.

liv

both are correct, one is English and the other American :) had to look it up for my final degree at university myself since its not my first language either lol

Vivian

U know i think here in the nordic countries atleast it is taught at school that British English (colour) is the "correct" one to use, but then the media seems to be more American English (color) and that's why people seem to be little confused with some words

CoffeeNerd

I wonder what it will look like with a gradual change of colour from black and white to colour in the same picture. But I definitely prefer the coloured version over black and white.

cikame

It's colour in England, but most people go with American spelling on the internet, same idea if you decide to do anything with Flavour or Honour :P.

I don't know, but these polls are kinda hard :D I think it is more based on preference, than what's right or not. Darker colors and themes are better for more heavy topics, so it would fit the audio, but i personally like more coloufull version + with summer kicking in, i have more this feeling + colors in picture are cold, so it could fit the topic. With color and colour you can see how i use it :D There is so many words like that, but i think, that we see all times US English so we are just more used to it. Than, person is going watch show like Peaky Blinders, and is mind blown by accent and English used there.

Honestly they are both good Sarah. Actually, take this suggestion, split the banner up. One half is Black and White the other half COLOR! Or mix Black and White and Color. That would be cool ☺️
