For a wizard legendary for his hatred of water, the edge of a lake seemed a weird choice for a spot to construct his life's work. But Titardinal's Spire is not what it appears to be from the outside..

The Sky-Blind Spire

Titardinal's Spire is an ordinary-seeming stone tower at the edge of a large, live-giving lake. Few borderlands towers are so well placed, and it has changed hands many times. Unfortunately, Titardinal wove magic into every brick of his tower, making it a difficult place to hold onto for long.

This must be a language barrier, but what is a "Kastromancer"? I have never heared this word.

Olav Müller

Great idea, btw. I am planning to use this adventure with my group, soon.

Michael Prescott

I made it up! It's a wizard whose spellcasting idiom is architecture, essentially. Where some people wave their arms and chant things, a kastromancer builds a structure that represents the structure of the spell.

When I view the PDF on my Mac with Preview, the text is there, but the actual map is missing. Looks fine with Acrobat Reader, but still.

Michael Prescott

Mark, thanks for reporting this, others on various Mac devices have said the same thing. Could you try the link now, to see if it's any better? I've tried linking to a PNG instead of the layered PSD, and I'm now downgrading it to 200ppi on export (lossy jpeg) - hopefully that helps. Otherwise I'm at a loss.

Mark Delsing

That version displays correctly! Thanks, Michael!

Am I correct to assume, that the second floor is the pelican roost? These windows seem to have been labled with 1W-1S, but there are no 2nd floor windows in the tower?

This one was really good and interesting mapping and overall idea. Replaced the monsters and npcs with something appropriate to my world and players had couple of wonderful sessions in trying to figure out the map. Almost required a sanity roll for the mapper...

Hannu Kokko

would be wonderful if you would create in future (even) more maps, locations that can be dropped in to jungle or sea/island type locations or semi forgotten temples

Michael Prescott

Nice to hear from you, Hannu. I'll drop the words 'jungle', 'sea', and 'island' in to my inspirationatron and see what comes out. :) I hope your mapper recovers!

How did you interpret "sky blindness"? In context, it seems to mean blue things are: black, invisible, or completely ignored. I think ignored is the most interesting option, but it's not exactly clear.

Michael Prescott

Yes, my intention was 'ignored'. So, if the party is in a place with blue items, just don't describe the blue items. If they're in the room with the tapestry, and they ask about the tapestry, the game is probably up immediately, which is fine. "What tapestry?" "Wasn't there a tapestry on the north wall?" "You seem to remember one." "But not now?" "The north wall isn't interesting." etc.
