About the Future of the Mobile Version 📱 (Patreon)

Hey everyone.

I need to have an honest conversation about the mobile version of OOP and where things stand.

🎮 How OOP is Built

For those who don't know, OOP is made in Ren'Py an amazing engine that's allowed me to build this game step by step. But like everything, it has limitations.

One of the biggest? Ren'Py does not support mobile versions over 4GB.

Our game currently sits at 3.95GB uncompressed. That means with the very next update (V0.91 onward) , I will no longer be able to release a native Android version. 😔

🔧 Technical Hurdles

To make things trickier: I recently updated Ren'Py to the latest version, which brings:

Smoother performance

Faster loading

More Optimization

But it also broke my SDK, which is required to build .apk files. I've submitted a bug report, but there's been no response yet.

Even if that gets fixed, the 4GB limit remains.

🔍 What I'm Doing About It

I'm actively looking for alternatives. Currently, I'm exploring Godot as a potential solution for Android builds. It might take some time to find the right workflow, but I'm committed to keeping OOP accessible.
