Hi everyone! I'm making this post to let you all know about an important change to Patreon's current billing system and an additional App Store fee that will be applied to new memberships purchased through iOS starting next month, and for transparency sake, I'm attaching the notification provided by Patreon to all creators:

I'm currently using a first-of-the-month billing model, which means I'll have to switch to a subscription billing model by November 1st. However, If you're an existing current member, this change won't affect you as long as your membership is active:

Regarding future purchases of my shop and new memberships, a new Apple Store fee of 30% will be applied only if you do your purchases/subscriptions through iOS, so in order to avoid that fee, I recommend you to purchase and subscribe through Android or directly from Patreon's website:

Basically, the billing system change will only be applied to actual new patrons who subscribe on November 1st onwards plus an additional 30% fee only if they do through iOS. It also means that if you're a current patron this change won't affect you at all, however, if you cancel your subscription now and sub again in the future, you will be billed on the same day that you subbed, monthly.

If you have a doubt regarding any of this, please let me know in the comments or through private message.

Thanks for reading! :)

Gaming companies like Epic (well-known for Fortinite) also hated this “Apple Tax”. Seriously it is nothing like a sales tax. In the U.S, the sales tax is based on which state. The state with the highest sales tax rate is California’s 7.25%. Not even close to apple’s fee. Thankfully you can log into Patreon via any browser on ios and not be subject to nearly-one-third-of-the-income fee. I’ll be extremely pissed if Apple tries to stop that workaround and demand the fee even on browser or any way to support creators.
