The Norse Goddess Frigg will be rolling out to your inboxes and MMF libraries in the next few hours!

Frigg, the Norse goddess, holds a prominent place in Norse mythology as queen of the Aesir gods and the wife of Odin. She represents motherhood, marriage, wisdom, and the protection of the household. Frigg is known for her nurturing and loving nature, ensuring the well-being of her family and the gods.

At her waist, you will find a set of keys. Keys symbolize Frigg's association with the household and her role as a guardian of domestic affairs. As the keeper of the keys, she holds authority over her realm, controlling access and protecting the sanctity of the family unit.

Around her neck, she wears a horse-adorned pendant and stands beside her steed. Horses are used to represent Frigg due to their association with strength, swiftness, and the ability to traverse boundaries. These qualities reflect her role as a goddess of fate and her influence over destiny. Additionally, horses represent her divine connection and partnership with Odin, who is often depicted riding a mighty steed.

In her hands she holds Mistletoe. Frigg's affiliation with mistletoe is closely tied to the myth of Baldr's death. According to the myth, Frigg had received a promise from every creature and plant in the world that they would not harm her beloved son, Baldr. However, she overlooked mistletoe, considering it too small and harmless to pose any threat. Taking advantage of this oversight, the mischievous god Loki crafted an arrow tipped with mistletoe and tricked Baldr's blind brother, Höðr, into shooting it at Baldr during a game. This resulted in Baldr's tragic demise.

This myth emphasizes Frigg's grief and the vulnerability that even a seemingly insignificant oversight can bring. It serves as a poignant reminder of her role as a loving mother and protector and underscores the importance of her efforts to safeguard her family and loved ones.

Embroidered on her skirts are the following runes:

  • Ansuz (ᚨ): This rune represents divine communication, wisdom, and inspiration. It relates to Frigg's own wisdom and her ability to see into the future.
  • Berkana (ᛒ): This rune symbolizes growth, nurturing, and feminine energy. It resonates with Frigg's role as a goddess of motherhood and family.
  • Dagaz (ᛞ): Dagaz represents transformation, breakthrough, and enlightenment. It can be connected to Frigg's role as a goddess of wisdom and her ability to bring about positive change and growth.
  • Isa (ᛁ): Isa signifies stillness, patience, and introspection. It can be associated with Frigg's calm and composed nature, her ability to patiently navigate challenges, and her wisdom in making considered decisions.
  • Uruz (ᚢ): Uruz symbolizes strength, vitality, and primal energy. It can be linked to Frigg's inner strength as a protective mother and her ability to draw upon her power to safeguard her family and loved ones.
