Meet Steve, grunt, follows the rules. His two squadmates get to spend some quality time in the med bay after the events in biolab. Rather than giving him some time off, command paired him up with one of the mercs that happened to be avaiable: Sam. She's all better now, but perhaps not ready to go back out there, yet. She has been through serious stuff after all. Some nice and relaxed guard duty might be just what she needs.

On base, mercs need to wear the same uniforms as the troopers, except without a rank. Mercs get a little triangle on their shoulders for identification. Besides the actual clothes, the army's strict regulations don't apply to mercs.

Steve does not approve (sort of, it is complicated).

This was a practice drawing that turned into something more. I might use these 2 in an upcoming story. Perhaps.

It'd be interesting to see how a guy gets involved in these kinds of things

Yeah I'm not sure yet. It is a male dominated military org so I feel like there should be more men in my stories, but at the same time they are not the focus.

I think the creatures would just *eat* men. Women end up with a far higher survival rate, which is why you see them going out into the field. The dirty secret would be that the government would rather rescue pregnant females (carrying interesting biological samples) than have all their male soldiers slaughtered.

Sam what misadventure is she from

zeroGravitas

Monster hunter, pest control, rescue party (she was the person Evie and Kim went in to save), and then actual rescue party. She's had a pretty rough time.

oh damn and she is still kicking

The obvious choice is to have Sam have some residual "corruption" from the Biolab incident, then go down on Steve there.. but in a 'harmless' way.

Glad she made it back after all those. She is a darn tough girl

indeed

Lol surely Sam is their top breeder at this point.
