Welcome! Better late than never :). A starfish you say? I've not really thought of that, I usually go for critters that spit sticky goo or have tentacles, or both. You have some monster in mind?

Starfish limbs can be very tentacle like, and they do something spit like(they actually eject their stomach to surround their prey) so who said it needs to be their stomach?

Yup. Something kind of a starfish that jump and latches onto unsuspecting prey that suck their blood dried. They attack and overwhelm their prey with number. But since this is the place where girls get breed, the starfish can also find suitable host to lay their eggs. They pinned them down and covered their body while secrete some kind of essence, acting as an aphrodisiac to their skin as well feeding the host via mouth. Since there's already a squid one in sea, though it best to see monster from the shore.
