A Quick Question and Status Update (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone!
Short summary: I needed to take a short leave, but now I'm back. Also a question about the number of unique map designs vs the number of variants per map.
I had to take a short break last week to gather my thoughts and energy. Sorry for the radio silence and the delay with new releases!
Now I'm back working on the pending maps and module updates. While taking a long rest, so to speak, I've been thinking about my own strengths and weaknesses as a content creator and cartographer, and one thing that I've been paying attention to is the amount of time it takes me to make the map variants.
You might think, as I did, that it's easy to just make a few new versions of a map, but now that I've been doing this for some time, I've noticed that the variants actually take a lot of time. They also bloat the size of the work files and make my computer sluggish. (Actually, it could use a big update after almost six years of loyal service). Also, this leaves me with less unique content for different scenarios.
All this has reminded me of the fact that I perform the best when I can keep the work cycle short and my productivity suffers from longer map projects.
Before making any rushed changes, I would like to ask your opinion if you would like to see more unique map designs with fewer variants (an alternative solution) or fewer unique map designs with more variants (current solution)? This is not a promise, nor have I made up my mind yet (this is why I'd like to know your thoughts about this), but I'm quite certain that I need to make some changes soon.
