As mentioned in the June Patreon update, we've been working on some fixes and updates for Goo Physics and our older rigs - including getting them (almost) ready for (a potential) Goo Engine 4.5. More on that later.

Character Rigs

As of today, we've updated all four of our ready-to-anime character rigs on both Gumroad and Superhive. Emily, Amethyst, Yin, and Yang all have matching control rig layouts, and we've created a special _GE_Legacy file version for everyone except Emily. The _GE_Legacy files are a 4.0-4.2-compatible version of the rig that uses the old version of Grease Pencil to achieve the expected thin lineart style. Goo Engine 4.3 and 4.4 have broken lineart thickness – the lineart can only get so thin without resorting to a hacky solution that will break in most scenes (this is not our fault, it’s a Blender issue).

These separate versions should solve most issues with the lineart that you may encounter. However, if you encounter any issues, send an email to support@dillongoostudios.com or hit us up on Discord with a brief description of the problem.

Pick up our character rigs from Gumroad or Superhive.

Goo Physics

Goo Physics just keeps getting better! We're officially on Goo Physics v 1.0.5, which brings an adjusted chain algorithm to prioritize creating longer chains instead of splitting at each child junction- resulting in better long chain simulations. 1.0.5 also fixes a bug where Frame Dropping and Sync to Audio baking didn’t work in some files.

Version 1.0.4 was an even bigger update, bringing Bone Map Presets, gravity controls for all physics chain types, and a prototype for an automatic collider generated from the active rig deform bones. There's also some bug fixes and UI updates, which can all be found on the page's update log.

Version 1.0.5 has been included in the Superhive Super Add-Ons Bundle, in celebration of the platform's birthday.

Goo Engine 4.5 - fact or fiction?

Now. We know why you're really here. Here's what we can say-

Goo Engine 4.5 is in active development.

What that means is: our devs have cleared the biggest compatibility hurdle in bringing our Goo Engine tools to Blender 4.5, and they're now actively fixing bugs and writing code with the goal of a release.

We don't have a launch date yet. Once the development is done, we still need to project test it and make sure it's ready for a wide release. But Goo Engine 4.5 is closer than you think, and we're so grateful to everyone who's supported our development progress.

Goo Engine can ONLY be downloaded from our Patreon. If you haven't experimented with Goo Engine 4.4 yet, the most recent build can be downloaded here.
