TUTORIAL FOR THIS WEEK:   How to add CARS to your urban sketches

This week I'm making a tutorial all about how to add cars to your urban sketches! I've tried to find references with buildings in the background so we can match the car to the perspective of the scene.

Let me know in the poll which photo you like the best and if there is anything you'd specifically like to learn in this tutorial. I appreciate any feedback 🙌🏼.

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Week Starting 16th September: People Sketching - Sitting Poses

Week Starting 23rd September: Urban Sketching - Japanese Shop Front

Week Starting 30th September: Portrait Sketching - Front view

Annette Chapman

Three please. As the business of the photo overwhelms me and I wouldn’t know where to start.

Jodi Dawson

1 gives a front and back view👍

Roz

#3 feels like a scene from a movie, an old movie sure, but a great crime drama! I’ve been out of touch, but still on board the Sketching Scottie train!! Miss you all. Back soon.

John

A toss up between 1 & 3 for me… 1 because I am more likely to sketch scenes with smaller cars, 3 because it is more complex and, like Annette, where to start, do you include it all or just the parts you want?

Karen

I’d like #1 which is more like what I’m apt to see, plus it has good buildings, cars and people, each a challenge in its own right.

Karen Lin

I think #1 should be picked. It's the scene most people I think would take a picture of.

Mary L Doty

I really like the buildings in #1. That seems like a photo I might take. I wouldn’t plan on a photo with cars as the focus.

Ingrid Krämer

3 please. It is so complex and I don't know how to start.

Wendy Rowe

Having tried and failed to get the proportions of a London taxi correct some months ago I’d really appreciate your valuable input 😊

Sarah

#1 is my choice. It has all the component parts to practice drawing without looking so jammed and overcrowded as 3 looks to me.

Lorna Graham

#3 please, just appeals to me. I find vehicles difficult but love a challenge Scottie 😁

Sabrina M

I like #1 because I’d like to know how to draw small cars, the same way as small people. And I feel like most of my own photos would have small cars in them.

JusPete

Contrasts of lines and colors in #1. It adds to the art of architecture and form for the transportation wlth a dash of people watching

Sketching Scottie

Interesting that there's a lot of passion for number 1 in the comments! Perhaps if 3 wins I'll sketch 1 as a backup tutorial I can use for another time 😊

Beverly

really prefer 2 or 3 1 the cars too small want the car aspect to be the important part
