TUTORIAL FOR THIS FRIDAY:   Buildings In Three Point Perspective

Hi all! This week we are going to be sketching a building in three point perspective. I searched for simple buildings to demonstrate this type of perspective and these ones have a great rectangular prism to work with.

Let me know in the poll which building you find the most interesting and if there are any problems that you have that you'd like me to focus on in the lesson.

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Friday 6th December: Portrait Sketching - Smiling faces

Friday 13th December: Urban Sketching - Church / Christmas Scene

Friday 20th December: People Sketching - Family group with different ages

Number one is the sort of building that I would like to try to draw. Lots of interesting parts!

Mary L Doty

# 2 is the one I like the most. I like the colors and the striped awning. Very cheery!

Kerstin

To learn 3 point perspective i like number 3 the most. Also cause the vertikal lines clearly arent vertical but angled. Each time i take photo of high buildings and try sketch them, i dont cause of any thing seems so difficult 🤣

Julie

Number two gets my vote for the most interesting lighting. Love the tree shadow!

Leo Wilson

My choice is number 1 as it has the added complexity of people. The only down side is it does not have a great deal of contrast. Perhaps contrast could be introduced, Scottie 😁

Javier Sabadell

I like number 1, but I absolutely love the shadows and escape points for perspective in number 3. These elements add depth and dimension, making it more engaging. Number 1 is very charming and dynamic because of the people in the composition (I know, it's a pub), but number 3 is challenging and intriguing due to the contrasts produced by the shadows.

Wendy Bakel

No 1 great details I struggle with !

Marie Cornelis

merci Scottie, je suis parfois absente parce que je déménage...mais dès que j'ai du temps...je continue ton cours passionnant!!!

Gwen Marriott

No 3 would be interesting because of the balconies and shadows.

Karen Ericka Newby

The balconies in no 3 are quite a novelty. We've had a lot of buildings with small-paned windows but not many balconies with railings.

Michael Coleman

No 1 is a little too busy for me (people and frontage adds too much in too small a space) and if we are exploring three point perspective I would rather do it with the buildings alone. The balconies add a touch as it will be interesting to see how he gets the dimensionality woven into what is already three point on the building.

Jessica

My vote is for 3 and 2! Number 1 is lovely but I agree with the other comments that it’s a bit busy and doesn’t focus on the perspective aspect of 3 and 2.

Lorna Graham

Really like #1 but happy with any. I find good old traditional pubs really interesting. I don’t think it will be easy with all those windows and of course the perspective. Thanks Scottie 😊

Carol

#3

C Heathershaw

I'd like to paint #1, but I also really struggle with getting the perspective correct when drawing balconies on buildings, would really get a lot from a tutorial on #3.

I thought No 2. and then I figured what the heck try a challenge for once

I am getting greedy again... 1 & 2....love the colours and shadows in 2
