UPCOMING TUTORIAL: Friday 27th February: Clock Tower

This week I have two sets of references to choose from. Please choose one clock tower and one lamp post from the poll below. I'll use the lamp post for a second tutorial that I can get started on for another week!

UPDATE:

Thanks for all the well wishes for my voice 🤗. If you did the last tutorial, you'll know that my doctor has asked me to talk as little as possible over the next 6-8 weeks. The ENT specialist has some concerns but hopefully after some rest everything will be ok. So I'm giving it my best shot at getting better by not talking in my videos for the next weeks until my next check-up.

I'll be still making tutorials but I'll have to add subtitles instead of talking. I'll use the same introduction which I've already recorded so I do speak at the beginning and end. That means I will do simpler tutorials that require less theory explanation and are shorter so I have time to add subtitles for each step.

I've also ordered a special camera so that I can record more easily outdoors. I'll test that and I'm aiming to start taking you outdoors with me while I sketch. This could also be a good way to sketch while not using my voice.

I'll keep you all updated. Thanks again for your patience and support!

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Friday 6th March: Building Front View

Friday 13th March: Street object

Friday 20th March: Cow or Sheep (A farm animal)

#3 & #5 no particular reason. Really hope you have good news on your next check up Scottie. Your tutorial was still easy to follow in silence once you got used to it. Really excited about going outside and sketching!! 😁

Melissa

Hi Scottie, I am so glad that you are able to keep teaching us and you’re so creative in figuring out how to continue to do so without hurting your voice. I hope it heals successfully and that things will turn out better than you ever expected. I love love love street lights and street lamps. It will be a good assignment. I hope to catch up on the many lessons that I have missed, very soon. Outdoor lessons will be lots of fun and we can see how you set up for them and so forth as well.

Robbin

Heal quickly.

Kerstin

Oh, yes, outside sketching that will be nice. I go soon on vacation to La Palma and i look forward to try sketch outside again. Didnt sketch outside for a while as it is winter here 🥶

Marcio Bulgarelli

Everyone is thinking positively for you ... you will be much better very soon ... 2 and 6, please.

Hi Scottie, so sorry to hear (or not hear ;-) about your voice. I love your calming voice - I hope it will come back soon and you will feel better! In the meantime, the subtitles will work! There are also still so many older tutorials that we can do if you need to take a break for a week or more. I am so excited about the camera and following your outdoor tutorials!

Constance Stirling-Engman

I wish you a full recovery. I love hearing your encouraging, clear voice, but follow doctor's orders and get better.

Matthew Sims

6. I'm not sure how I'd even attempt water coloring the flowers. Hope your voice improves. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself!

Mukul Apte

Thanks for all the effort Scottie. I hope your voice gets better soon. Outdoor sketching will be fun ....looking forward to it.

Sara

Hope your voice problem heals quickly. Until then the captions work great. Thanks!

Michael

2 and 5. Street lamps look like Barcelona!

Elly

Get better soon Scottie, thank you for all the work ☺️

Beth

Scottie -- praying you have a swift voice recovery! Until then, thank you for keeping the sketches going by using the subtitles...I imagine that's a bit of work to add them! All the best to you and your family!

Kath McK

Wishing you a safe recovery! Subtitles are a wonderful idea.

Kathy S

Sending positive vibes your way Scottie.

I like #2 and #5. The clock is really nice with the rugged old stonework and the lamp/window just looks nice. Plus, the hanging boots add a little fun to it.

Tracey

#1 and #4. Please take care of your voice - it’s one of the reasons I signed up. So calm and soothing.

Asha Dornfest

Wishing you well as you navigate this health issue! It must be so disorienting, but please know that you’ve got loyal and grateful support among this community you’ve created AND an immense library available when you need breaks.

All Good Scottie. Heal Well n will rock on with Subtitles no probs. Just Quietly...because I understand yr sketching process plus yr red line diagrams on photos make things clear and you show the measuring with yr fingers ...I do at times turn yr voice down and just watch. I Always Always listen to you with the painting part tho... I need all those specific bits of information. Perhaps...My Thoughts for maybe digesting over a Cuppa/Beer/Tea with Honey in it...each recording: Record n reuse an Intro then very basic Sketch Intro with referral to yr Fundamental lesson...then do sketching part with subtitles only showing diagrams n measuring technique...then voice teach with the painting section still....??? Would it Pretty Please be okay to have the Subtitles as small as convenient and at the top of the screen if possible? I personally find them distracting when they are covering over what is being filmed aka yr Artwork. With the "noise" to play in the silent part...I like hearing yr natural artwork noise...it's my preference. If you are considering some other noise...and while yes I know I have a volume button...which I use for music I find screeches through my brains, or one tune repeated which I then can't get out of my brains...perhaps maybe sounds like nature instead...or that white/brown noise (there's heaps of "noises")....??? Perhaps a Poll? Anyways...however you choose or need to do things Scottie...I'll still be hanging around like a bad smell :-D. And wld love to see you sketch outdoors...be great to learn about that. Go Well n Be Quiet ;-D.
