Ink sketching portraits can be challenging! I'll show you my easy technique.

For the first time I'm using pencil in the first step as this is a larger portrait than I usually do, with more line work details.

Let me know what you think of this technique in the comments!

Great video Scottie. So, we really need to get the proportions correct from the start. How do you know where the hairline is to work out the proportions of the face.

Thanks, yes I thought it would be guess work. Sometimes it is a bit of a hit or a miss though.😁

Please, for gods sake, don’t use jump cuts, at least not with your Patreon videos. I noticed the change in nose width and would like to know why. I also noticed it in another video where a baseball cap was roughed in and then all of a sudden it was detailed. Since we pay for these videos I would like to see all of the changes as you make them. Thanks.

Another great tutorial Scottie, thanks. Mine didn't turn out too bad I just need to be a little more patient and diligent with my markings.

Omg, I love your coloring! I used to hate water colors, never used them after school, but now lately I tried them and now I love them, haha. Everything is still new to me, but I really want to learn to use colors like you. Will try this later myself. Great work!

Hi Scottie! Can you explain the concept of "over-pairing colors" (if that's what you said)? It seemed important as you started to add the purple shadows to the hair, but I am unfamilar with the term. Maybe it is already covered in another video, in such case I have not seen it yet. 😊

Did you edit the final image (the colors look brighter/more vivid, than in the video)? It might just be the fact that one is video and one is photo, but I am curious. ☺️

I have tried a couple attemps. This portrait is really a challenge.:(
