TUTORIAL FOR THIS WEEK: Small Heads (Practicing simple details)

This week I'm going to show you how to sketch very small heads where the features of the face are extremely simplified. This is great if you're sketching a group of figures and the heads might only be about 10mm/0.4inch in height.

But what pen would you like me to use?

I have my Uniball Micro that's my 'go to' pen at the moment. I also have a TWSBI ECO Foundation Pen as well as a SAILOR Fude Fountain Pen.

Let me know below what pen you'd like me to use (or should I compare all of them!). Also, if you have suggestions on what you'd like to learn on this topic, I'd love to hear that too!

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Week Starting 18th September: Urban Sketching - Simple Buildings

Week Starting 25th September: People Sketching - Clothing & Folds

Week Starting 2nd October: Urban Objects - Vintage Planes

NEW PATREON FEATURE:

I can now organise my tutorials into categories in the 'Collections' tab at the top of my Patreon home page. I think it's still easier to choose a tutorial from my website in the above link but this is still a welcome feature.

Looking forward to hearing from you below!

All of them would be interesting

I have a uniball so that is what I'll use but I like the idea of comparing

Comparing them all would help me decide better as to which pen to use for smaller drawings. Just one of my problem areas. Thanks and really looking forward to this tutorial.

I'm always looking for the smoothest pen to create the finest lines. Have had problems with ink pens (which everyone seems to love) and presently use uni-ball Deluxe Micro for fine lines and the one you use for other lines.

So love pen sketches Scottie. I don’t have a fountain pen so I’m going for no 1. I’m currently using uni pin fine line in a couple of different sizes. However I’m happy to experiment … maybe I’ll change to 4 😁

I would love to find a fountain pen I could use waterproof ink in.
