TUTORIAL FOR THIS WEEK: People Sketching

This week we are loosely sketching figures as you might see them in the street.  I find sketching people reading or talking on their phones quite good as they often sit still for longer😊.

Please vote below which is your favourite and let me know in the comments if there is anything you'd like to learn!

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Week Starting 6th November: Pets - How to sketch ANY animal

Please do umbrellas. They make me crazy!

Jodi Dawson

I chose 2- w umbrella and dog- and a seated person

Mary L Doty

I like #1 and #4 because you have more than one elements to each screen to make it right. All of them are interesting. The women, the dog , and the person in the background in #1 are all looking at a different point of interest which I would think you would find in a street scene.

Fran

1 and 6. Interesting and not too complicated

Ally Noormohamed

Oh! They all have something interesting that would be fun to draw but I'll pick 1.

Marg

1, 4, 5, & 6. ....(1) because the leash adds a simple, and yet an added dimension + the the dog... 4, 5, 6 for the folded hands, and or legs with how those emphasize the shift in body weight, ....you see what i mean?

Susan

I like #1 and #4 I agree with Mary … But also like #6 for the sitting position. Thanks for so many great choices… So helpful.

Glenn1

1 and 6, they look so natural.

Dan Misson

All 6 😃❤️💯

Michael

I like 1 & 5 because they have busy backgrounds and I'd like to get your thoughts on simplifying those backgrounds.

CathV

I like #6 - I like the glasses perched on his nose, and I will be interested to see how to render the relaxed crossed-leg pose.

Karen King

1 & 6 for the challenges. Foreshortening has always been a nightmare for me, such as the man's foot in 6. I deliberately choose the subjects I most dread. But if anyone can do it, you can.

Lorna Graham

I chose 6 because I struggle with this profile, especially the face. I’d love to do them all 😍

Rick Morris

I chose 3,5,6. Specifically like the table, glasses and the book.

I can't find where to send you an unrelated question, so maybe you'll see it here. You switched pens a few weeks ago to the one you are currently using. Does your current pen have a finer line and is that why you switched to 0.388?
