Coiling with paper mache. An attempt at kilnless thriving. Going bigger but with a longer time to set. Less certainty. Potentially less longevity, arguably a good thing. Still quite scary though. Patterns as protection. Layers of perception. A vulnerability diversion tactic.Welded welds on top of welds for thin unstable leg ends, dismembered and reappropriated from past instability. A copper pole that the legs don’t notice. They think they’re doing it all by themselves. So used to the support that they don’t see it. Silly legs.Purple plane. A shadow of domesticity and inefficient planning. Oddly hairless against the lived in version, naked in comparison but god I love the smell of new carpet. I’m so glad I don’t work in a carpet shop.Cute feet. Small but wide, just like mine. But more Ikea.
Body Feelings. Existence feelings. Settled yet unstable feelings.I’m sorry It’ll Take Me A While To Name You.I hope that’s okay.

I wrote this as a description of this piece. I’d only just finished making it and hadn’t really had a lot of time to digest it for myself, to figure out who it is or what it might mean to me. So I saw it as some kind of free association writing exercise working from top to bottom focusing on each aspect at a time, like a meditation body scan.
I think I want to write more things like this.
For now, please enjoy these photos taken at various points throughout the making of It’ll Take Me A While To Name You, as well as a couple taken at the Conditions show that it was in recently.
Thank you all so much for your continued support! ❤️
