Hey all!A little update on some recent/upcoming stuff:

Open Studios.Conditions is having an open studios event on the 3rd of February 12 - 6pm (89 Gloucester Rd, Croydon CR0 2DN) where I’ll be showing some work in progress and also will have some things for sale, drawings, small sculpture etc. The studios will be fully open to the public and there’ll be some performances and drinks and good times. Hopefully see you there!

NTS.Also at Conditions we’ve been working on an hour long radio show as a guest spot on Mark Leckey’s NTS radio show. Here’s a couple of photos from yesterday's recording session. I played my sheet metal instruments I made, a slightly broken antique zither, a drum machine, and said weird things about teeth into a microphone. The show will air in mid to late February and I'll update with the exact date and link to where you can listen to it once it’s available.

(Work) Performance Thoughts.Earlier this week I spent three days preparing a space and installing a show (that I’m not in, I'm just there in a freelance technician capacity) and it continues to make me think about work and art, particularly in this case performance art.

Part of the install involved me painting the floor of the gallery bright magenta (which I love) while members of the public walked past and sometimes stopped and watched me do this through the wall of windows at the front of the gallery. They would smile and give me thumbs up when I caught their eyes. While I did feel observed I didn’t mind it, colour being systematically applied across a floor is quite satisfying to watch, and accepting that maybe there is a performative aspect to it once I know I’m being watched is interesting to me, especially in the context of art gallery.

I managed to film a little bit of it by propping my phone up behind a plant, and also I asked a colleague to take a couple of pictures too. Currently I don’t have any specific plans for the footage but there’s definitely links that could be drawn between this and the filming I did at my prop making job. We shall see how things emerge.
