Flora’s father was a ruler who genuinely believed that the prince, chosen as Flora’s suitor, was worthy, both as a protector of his daughter, and as a guardian of their realm. However, his focus on safety rendered him naïve, causing him to overlook countless warning signs that heralded danger. The prince have been caught by some dealing with the dark druid queen and he have been accused of hiring poor people to do he's dirty work (he is both selfish, and greedy). The prince have been claiming to be the greatest hero, but he was no hero. Despite repeated pleas from Aglain (Flora's Brother) and their mother, he remained deaf to their concerns. This dismissal was compounded by an old agreement, made years prior between the king and the prince that sealed Flora’s fate before she even returned home. A promise he felt bound to honor, even at the cost of his daughter’s happiness.

The wedding was arranged abruptly and with such force that Flora had no room to refuse. The king, finally confronted by the fear visible in her eyes, recognized the grievous error he had made. But at that moment, change was no longer within his power... Aglain refused to let Flora face the consequences alone. Halvard was there to help and Freydis who loved Flora far more unconditionally than the prince ever could, was ready to fight for her.
