Please watch the OG The Stand. Gary Sinise is in it and it's great, if a bit low budget and dated.

I absolutely love this movie! I heard that this movie was based almost completely on facts from people that where involved with the mission. With exclusion of the argument they had on the ship. Absolutely awesome!!!

Gary Sinise, the guy who never got the measles, played Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump.

Just finished watching and your reaction j is why I love watching. I love this movie and watching you encapsulate all the different emotions is a treat to behold. Movies based off of real events always give off a more visceral effect for me aswell. And you have a good baby always takin care of u.

Amazing Reaction as always J! Fun Facts - The man who "dissed" Hanks was director Roger Corman. He gave Ron Howard his start as a director , as well as many others. - The guy that made the "That's no joke." line about The I.R.S. is Ron Howard's Brother Clint. Been in MANY films and TV.) Apollo 13 is considered the most accurate film about space out there. - Hanks visited Jim and Marilyn at their home and flew with Jim in his plane in prep for the film. - And last , but not least , Kathy Rogers got the idea for the how Junkyard Wars(AKA Scrapheap Challenge) in 1995 from watching Apollo 13. (I LOVED that show!!)

Danny Glover's Knees

The coolest thing about this movie is how they filmed the weightless scenes of the 3 men floating around in the spacecraft. They didn't have cgi back then so practical effects often had to be used and it doesn't get much more real than what Ron Howard used for these scenes. They built a replica of the spacecraft inside of an old kc135 plane that the military uses for refueling planes in the air. NASA stripped everything out of the plane and use it for training astronauts to work/live in 0 gravity. They named it the Vomit Comet and they fly it steeply up into the air and then arch up and over then back down. This gives everybody in the large plane about 30 seconds of 0 gravity and is how they filmed all of those great scenes in the movie! I bet they didn't need to worry about making sure they acted nervous.
