Mel got some directing chops now. Hacksaw Ridge is an all time classic. It's hard to make a war comedy, but then there's 'The Producers', which is genius level comedy. I think a happy medium, and a movie you will love, would be Kelly's Heroes. It's a star filled all time classic. Hope you have a great weekend. 👍

We watch you for your reactions...any fuck wit who is offended needs to remember THEY CLICKED on your video! You didn't enter their home and sit down and begin ranting. You keep doing you it's why you succeed!

This is such a beautifully shot and directed movie. It effects my heart so much. My dad is a Vietnam Vet, and I am so proud of him and all the men who fought with him. I hope everyone has a good Memorial Day to remember them all from every war. I know this is hard on you J to watch, but it was a wonderful reaction as always. Love to all the members and EOM!❤️

Brother J, try to not let angry people get you down. Maybe they just took something you said wrong or too literal or something. My own father was in the Navy, my father in law was in the Army, and my brother is in the reserves and I am proud and thankful of their service and yet, even I still don't understand wars. Most of the soldiers I know are proud to serve but in their heart of hearts wish there could be worldwide peace. But they know that one man's peace is another's hell because of different beliefs, laws, politics, etc. Each side thinks they are in the right in every war/conflict. Until folks can agree that every nation should keep the good positive things in life and let go of the negative harmful hurtful things in life there will always be wars. IMO it basically boils down to that.

Oooh, this is a great movie, and unbeknownst to me, it seems it's time for a rewatch.

J, you never need apologize for not serving in the military. Those of us who volunteered did so for our own individual reasons, and the military is not for everyone. You have every right to hold and express your opinions, regardless as to whatever anyone else thinks or believes. This was an excellent choice for a Memorial Day movie, and for next year's Memorial Day movie I'd recommend Black Hawk Down. It's worth waiting for next Memorial Day for that movie. Trust me. As for this movie, there really should have been a second movie for the real tragedy of the Ia Drang valley campaign of 1965. LZ X-Ray was just the first battle (third if you want to be technical, as the first was the siege of the Plei Me special forces camp, and the ambush of the relief forces. LZ-Xray, which this movie focuses on was giving chase to the NVA soldiers. Here's where the movie veers off from what actually took place. In all, 2 more battalions were sent in to reinforce Lt. Colonel Hal Moore's battalion (3 Battalions in total, although the third of the battalions to arrive was as the NVA began to pull back. Thus, there was no bayonet charge up the mountain, or helicopters wiping out the last of the NVA troops as depicted in the movie. Hal Moore's battalion was airlifted out, and the other two battalions then marched to two different landing zones to get out of the way for B-52 Strategic Bombers to mass bomb the entire area where the NVA had been dug in and encamped. One of the two battalions (2nd Bn / 7th Cavalry) marched into LZ-Albany and straight into 2 NVA Battalions, and was just about massacred. Of the nearly 400 U.S. soldiers who marched into LZ-Albany, 151 were killed, 121 wounded, and 4 missing in action (their bodies were recovered the following year - so they eventually were added to the killed list). 4 days later, just one-third of 2/7 battalion was still standing. Their commander made a bunch of bone-headed decisions, and quite honestly, General Westmoreland should have been outright court-martialed in my own personal opinion for his incompetence ~ but that's another story altogether. Even when he became aware as to what was actually happening, he did nothing..... but for the fact that another news reporter hitched a ride into Albany the same way Joe Galloway did at X-Ray, the truth came out, and was being reported back home before Westmoreland even bothered to do anything about the situation. But that's an entire different discussion. In all honesty, we could have a three-hour conversation regarding this series of battles, as I was still on active duty when this movie came out, and I was able to actually go into a military library in Washington D.C. and research the actual events. But I'm not going to write a thesis or a novel here in the comments. Just wanted to give a Cliffsnotes version of what really unfolded. Mel Gibson tends to make things much more "patriotic" than they actually were, but I think he really does a decent job of capturing the tragedy that unfolded. Unfortunately, he caps it off with a grand charge up the mountain and a great "victory" that NEVER took place. Landing Zone Albany was the single bloodiest day for the U.S. during the Vietnam War, and if the truth had been told right then and there, the war would have never been escalated any further than it was ~ OR, Westmoreland would have been fired altogether for his absolute incompetence. The American public would have demanded his head on a platter long before public opinion actually turned against the war.

That laundry scene was cringe. Its ridiculous to suggest an army wife in that decade didn't know what that meant.

Never apologize for not serving in the military. When I served in the 70s and 80s many were drafted. Never let a few bad mouthed comments get you down. Your reactions are a bright spot of the day. Keep up the good work. Though it may be too late for this Memorial Day, I strongly suggest you consider reacting to "Taking Chanse" (2009) staring Kevin Bacon. It's the true story of a Marine officer who volunteers to escort home the remains of a fellow Marine killed in combat.

Don't ever apologize for not serving. Whoever gives you shit about not being in the service can get bent. We all love you no matter what and those haters can just step on
