PATREON Halloween Ends 2022 Movie Reaction First Time Watching

Yay. Let me pull this up rn. I didn't care for this one much but I'm definitely dying to watch your commentary.

As a massive Halloween fan, this movie pisses me off more than I can put into words. With that being said, I'm still gonna watch it with u. Let's ride!

This movie felt like the prime example of a studio forcing a trilogy. You really could have trimmed up Kills and worked in the last 30/40 minutes of this movie that actually involve Micheal. That being said, I love the the ending to this film after we get done with poser Mikey.

Uh-oh. Should I even wanna watch this reaction? I worry this is gonna be a JASON GOES TO HELL trauma.

I really disliked this movie the first time I saw it, and only re-watched with you. I think I understand what they were trying to to with Jamie Lee's character in the beginning of the movie. But they took Allyson from a strong young woman who was sure of herself, left her cheating boyfriend in the first movie, to being a passive, no urgency, "I can change him" idiot. It should have been called "Halloween ended a minute ago" or "Michael & me"

All-in-all, your thoughts mirrored my own as I watched this in the theater throughout. After the opening scene and the Halloween III style credits, it became clear this wasn't going down as they hyped it up with the Director's cut of Kills and the trailer for Ends, so I kicked back to see where they were going with it. Like you, it seemed like they were going to work towards passing the torch to Corey, and I was in for it (Adult Michael has always been credited as just "The Shape" in every movie all the way back to the original, so it made sense). But then, after 2-1/2 acts of having me identify with Corey, and getting invested in his evolution story, it was like they said, "on second thought, scratch all that ~ here's the 5 minute scene you all really wanted to see anyway, so here you go." As I've said, I see what they were trying to do, but it was poorly executed. In the end, David Gordon Green basically took a giant crap on the audience, and I've lost all respect for him as a writer and director. (And now he's doing an Exorcist trilogy? ~ Not everything needs to be a damned trilogy!) As a stand alone movie, and following through on the evolution of Corey, this would have been a great movie. Unfortunately, they did neither, thus it ends up being just a so-so, run of the mill 21st century slasher movie at best that really isn't a Halloween movie except for the final 5 minutes; and by that point, I really wasn't invested nor cared about how any of it turned out. They could have had Laurie become the shape at that point for all I cared..... because there was no buildup to it. There was no tension, no suspense, I just no longer cared after they killed Corey off.... because him and Allyson were the only two characters they made me invest in throughout the first hour and 45 minutes. As I said, if they had followed through with the Corey evolution, I'd have been more invested. The final showdown between The Shape (aka Corey) and Laurie would have had weight, and would have actually had me invested. They should have simply had Corey kill Michael when he stole the mask, and complete his transformation into The Shape..... and I could have lived with that. David Gordon Green completely dropped the ball in the finale. I'm all for subverting expectations so as to not be repetitive and predictable ~ BUT you have to have the follow through to pull it off. That's my overall opinion. That's why I tell people watching it for the first time to just go into it with an open mind, and not expect another repeat of Kills. If you go into it with the expectations that they created through their marketing, you are going to be greatly disappointed.... and thus why so many people have such disdain for this movie. I don't. I liked where they were going with it, but that final 5 minutes was an ending to another movie, not this movie. It's like someone changed the channel right at the climax.

I like the kills in this one and the story isn't the worst I've ever seen. The dude that opened his coat at the party and said "see anything you like" is Nick Castle.

Yeah not a fan of this one.. did have some good Kills but wasn't even Michael most the time and the fight at the end was underwhelming. Left no room to toy with any expansion or sequels..

The first couple times I tried watching this movie, I fell asleep both times. Now, I finally watched it again (yes, I did nod off several times lol) and this was the slowest and most boring Halloween ever. This movie is terrible especially supposed to being the last one. I think they just gave up when making it.
