Greatest classical christmas movie masterpeice ever constructed from paper!!!! Alot of ww2 vets coming out of war stated this movie gave them some light at end of tunnel. Ptsd thats including james stewart himself. The scenes of him crying and shaking in this film were legit not acting.

Never seen, but having a bit of a 30s 40s 50s day, so watched Wizard of Oz today again, and Casablanca (for the first time). This one is one the way, so I'll see you next Tuesday.

I have the same reaction watching this movie where for the first hour I'm like "Why do people call this a christmas movie?" and then by the end I'm crying declaring it the best christmas movie. It embodies the spirit to me but I totally understand you saying it's not. This movie was also banned due to having "communist elements."

I can say with no exaggeration that I feel this is the best movie ever made (I have a different movie that is my favorite movie, but this is the "best" for me). I literally watch it year-round. So glad you enjoyed it. I was really glad when I saw that you were reacting to this. Though I also was a bit worried. It is a movie that I hold in such high regard, I don't want to see people think it's only "okay." There is also the concern that, well to be blunt, George can be an absolute asshole at times and be off-putting. But in the big scheme of things, it all works. As for if it's a Christmas movie or not, I'm really fine either way. I think it is one, but I totally get the justification to say it isn't one. Oh, and in today's money, the $8,000 would be around $117,000.

Jimmy Stewart is 1 of the greatest actors of all time. American Film Institute (AFI) ranks him as the 3rd greatest American male actor. Was a pilot in World War 2 in a Bombardment Squadron. Was nominated 5 times for best actor (won once) for the Oscar and in 80 movies from 1935-1991. I hope you get to enjoy some of his other movies like Rear Window, Vertigo, The Man That Knew Too Much and others. Great reaction, I was crying along with you at the end.

This is hands down the best Christmas movie ever. Jimmy Stewart is a legend. I always cry with this one. Every Christmas I watch this movie, and I'm so glad you reacted to it.
