Buffy is definitely a show that ramped up in intensity as it went along. And the episodes do connect more after this season. It does still have "Monster of the Week" episodes, but there will always be an overarching narrative. They even lay the groundwork for things that won't happen for SEASONS. Very little (at least, after this season) is "insignificant" in the Buffyverse. I am so glad you're watching this!
