PATREON Big 1988 Movie Reaction First TIme Watching

Hey, man I watched a lot of movies growing up, so there's a lot of stuff I've seen, hence why I like a lot of the reactors, but there's still a lot of stuff I haven't seen myself. The biggies. I also haven't seen any of the Star Wars movies, OTHER THAN Return of the Jedi, because I have a vague memory of some random grown-up I don't recall taking me and my cousin to see that in the theater back in 1983. That being said don't ask me to recall any part of that movie now, forty some years later, lol My black card was threatened because I hadn't seen Coming To America, all the way through in one sitting, until probably a few years ago. I don't think my black card would be threatened, but my Minneapolis resident card would certainly be scrutinized because I live so close to Paisley Park and had never sat and watched our hometown boy Prince's Purple Rain until just recently 😬 We all have our places of improvement in our movie watching

I'm glad you could enjoy this one for what it was. The message you took from it was probably as valid as any :) I can tell you, as an adult I looked at specific things and themes through middle aged eyes and it's pretty bittersweet. Namely, Josh looking at all the kids being carefree, playing ball with friends, playing in a leaf pile, and knowing he can go back to that time way easier than us actual adults in a non fantasy world, lol. I won't get too dark and depressing about what a lot of those themes can mean to an adult watching this movie. But I appreciate your view from Josh's side and Susan's side. Too many reactors just sort of knee jerk the whole "this is creepy" vibe of their relationship and don't think about what it might have truly meant for both of them and how it shaped and how it would change their respective lives going forward.

I don't know there is a right or wrong lesson. I think more along the line of "be careful what you wish for." As for how much cash needed on a daily basis back then, it depended on the town/city. In a smaller city like one I grew up in, a suburb of Portland, OR - you could get by with $50 - $100 in the city.
