I said this was the follow-up to Tora Tora Tora, the next major battle. this battle took place 6+ months after pearl Harbor.

frost1977

yes the john williams just like star wars

frost1977

some of the footage in this movie is real combat footage from the war, thats why some of it may look off. film from gun cameras on planes, if you see a plane crash that was real sometimes with a pilot inside.

frost1977

that is mr miagee.

frost1977

J's sound cut off around 52 mins can't hear what he is saying. big chunk of his reaction is gone. 20 - 25 mins at least.

Transferring the flag means transferring command of the fleet. The lead ship in a navy fleet is called the flagship where the main commander is. then each ship has its own captain who actually commands the ship.

frost1977

the planes are catching cables to stop just like in top gun.

frost1977

yorktown was the only American carrier that was damaged at midway, it survived the battle but was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and was sunk.

frost1977

the Kamakazi hit on the carrier in this movies was real footage of a hit but it was actually from a later battle. They reuse a lot of footage on these older films so you may see the same shots in more than one movie.

Admiral Yamamoto the guy who had to apologize was killed 1 year later in 1943, he was a passager on a transport plane and was shot down by American fighters.

Xander
