PATREON Donovans Reef 1963 Movie Reaction First Time Watching

Comments

frost1977

This movie was basically Director John Ford taking a bunch of his film-making buddy's including John Wayne & Lee Marvin to Hawaii for 3 months and getting the Studio to pay for it.

frost1977

To me, this is a Christmas movie, more so than most made-to-be Christmas movies. Since this movie does show the manger scene and with Silent Night, the reason for the season.

frost1977

Something about this movie always makes me happy.

frost1977

Gilhooly is played by Lee Marvin.

Big Frank

This is an oldie!!!

frost1977

The reason Gillhooly hit the guy on the boat with the broom is because he was Shanghai 'ed. which is basically being kidnapped or tricked and forced to work on a ship as crew.

Manospondylus

Dirty Dozen is the best Lee Marvin film imo.

Al Mason

Happiest of birthdays, JL!!!

frost1977

this is an adventure comedy, not a Drama.
