I’m too invested in this reaction. I immediately knew this might a be a bit rough on you. Because it beats a lot of folks… me included. Be strong

Whoopi was f*ng robbed of the Oscar for this movie

Hell yeah, getting on this tonight!

Miss Gigglebox

I like this movie even though it has Whoopi and Oprah in it because I really despise both of them. Regardless, the movie does tend to linger on too long and wished we could have seen more of her reunion with her family at the end. The storyline of strength and resilience with Whoopi's character is amazing though.

Jay don't feel bad GOD'S TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING gets me every time too. Like I don't care how many times I watch this movie ...when they go into that I am just weeping. The end with all the "mama"s" used to really hit me hard too. I'm glad you liked it.

I try to just watch the movie and not focus on the real life story just enjoy the art.

J.. did you ever realize that the girl that was singing then the choir was Shug's daughter? Remember she said her parents were raising her child. You are so close talking about how much they look alike and sounded alike. I thought you were going to get there on the taping of it.

I was 14 years old the first time I watched this movie ~ I'm the same age as the actress who played young Celie. I remember you saying at the end of Titanic, "If your love ain't like Rose's, then I don't want it." Fuck that...... I'll take one Celie over a dozen Roses, and I will appreciate and love the hell out of her. Needless to say, I developed a huge crush on Whoopie Goldberg. And all I will say is thank God that Danny Glover chose never to take on another role like this one, and made some damned good movies playing some very likeable characters, or else he'd have been the most hated actor in the history of movies, he played that part so well. But I swear, Celie and all she does for everyone...... there aren't many women like that in the world, and all she ever wanted was to be appreciated and loved by someone ~ to just be accepted for the woman she is. That's all Albert had to do was just love her. But instead he beat her, kept her from her sister (the only person who truly loved her) and tried to rape her sister, and slept with another woman every chance he got..... he deserved to end up alone. Celie deserved to be loved, and cherished, and appreciated. And the makeup department.... man did they do an incredible job, especially with aging Nettie to be her older self at the end. Today's CGI couldn't have age the cast as well as the makeup department did throughout the movie. Just an all-around terrific performance by the entire cast and crew.
