This show does such a good job of hating and liking certain characters!

Edit: audio fixed

Blu3

First?

tris273

"This show was amazing. So sad that it's over :(" 😭😭you wrote that under Ranking of Kings and one day you'll write that under One Piece😭. Im just getting ready(5years too early) for brutal nostalgia.

지원

next week .. ep151 ..

Surya

whenever you see senseless acts of cruelty committed by characters you know to be weak you dont have to worry about Oda leaving you hanging. He shows you these scenes so the eventual comeuppance feels even better

Blu3

Man y’all aren’t ready for what’s about to come in these few episodes to come! 😆

ChocoBoshi

Something I think that's good to note about Luffy not fighting Bellamy is that Luffy is a very Ideologically driven character, even if it doesn't always seem that way. He holds himself very strictly to his "Pirate code". He saw that Bellamy and his crew weren't even brave enough to face the unknown, dismissing it with "scientific" explanations. They wouldn't even go as far as to think something like a sky island *could* exist much less try to find it. On his journey Luffy is looking for something that, as far as the world is concerned, no one knows is real or not. In other words he is spending and risking his life to find something that may not exist. He will come across many people standing in the way of him finding that answer so fighting people who aren't even willing to risk their lives for something they believe in is worth nothing in the face of his dream. Also as an aside, Luffy may appear childish but he doesn't hold on to grudges once things are over, he doesn't seek revenge for things people say either. Its similar to how Usopp didn't care what Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas said about him but he cared about when they talked badly about Luffy. He doesn't care when people insult him but he wont let you talk poorly about his friends. Nami, however, is very petty, which fits in with her money hungry personality (even though it came about because of a tragic past these are character *flaws*, it isn't a good thing that she wants to beat someone up after a confrontation is over or just for disagreeing just like we aren't supposed to like it when she says she only wants to help Vivi for money, even if that is sort of a joke) The story is trying to show you the right and wrong way to react to worthless fights and its funny seeing you guys agree with Nami when she is being portrayed as the immature one XD You both mentioned how you understood why he might not fight them but that it still made you mad and that's exactly why it is such a big thing that Luffy didn't fight them. Normally we think of Luffy as someone who does everything based on his whims, but in this moment he steeled his resolve and chose not to fight these guys even though everything they said was in direct conflict with his entire world view. You feel upset because they're attacking a fictional character the you like, imagine how upset Luffy must have felt internally, and despite that he still knew that it wasn't worth stooping to their level. To put it into real world terms. Imagine you are a basketball player in the NBA who wants to win a championship. Would you really go out of your way to practice against or take advice from a team where each individual player has no desire to achieve anything in the NBA? (I get that just because someone doesn't want to win a championship doesn't mean they aren't good practice, but I just mean it as a way to say "these people don't want to get better at the sport") Basically you aren't going to learn much about who to win a championship from someone who isn't competing with you for said championship. Hopefully that makes sense. Last edit XD One of the biggest appeals of One Piece is that Luffy is an incredibly consistent character. He never goes against his ideals or what he thinks is right, if you ever find yourself thinking he has then you either just need to wait to find out more or you need to consider things that you might be forgetting. Luffy staying true to myself is one of my favorite parts of Oda's writing

J T

The cherry pie guy is the same voice as Thorkell btw

koza

I didn’t know he has the same voice actor as the cherry pie dude 😭

Makayla Robinson

Luffys very interesting your right he picks and chooses people to fight depending on the situation Bellamy he was going to fight immediately after he attacked him just because he thought Bellamy was trying to compete with him about who is stronger but when he was talking luffy could tell everyone in their was beneath him and not worth anything their would be nothing in luffys opinion Learned or gain from fighting him

Rob

Remember they got new bounties after Alabasta. Vivi got the newspapers when the crew was leaving the town. Luffy's new bounty is 100M berrys and Zoro's is 60M. But the news didn't cross the ocean yet so everyone (including themselves) on Jaya island think luffy is worth 30M !

SomeoneElse

No reason to fight those who are already defeated 💪 let the trash talk and step over them like they're not even there. Also maybe you guys forgot, but Luffy's bounty is not 30 million like they keep saying :)

koza

luffy didn’t fight Bellamy because he has no dreams or ambitions.

koza

plus they’re small fries like nami said 😂

DuLee

The part where luffy didn’t fight is a callback to when shanks was getting attacked and told young luffy that there’s some fights not worth fighting.

DuLee

Ultimately it’s seen as pity to those who have no dreams of their own and are lost in life.

지원

peak

Mu Nanyo

TLDR - you spitting though. It made Luffy Mad but hes grown now, why fight them? They were not actively blocking the crews path or hurting his friends so let them believe what they want. Bellamy was the definition of yappin. Bellamys opinion, although opposite of luffys, doesnt change luffys and fighting bellamy wouldnt change his opinion either. Holy, Oda was teaching us about the futility of fighting randoms on the internet. Namaste 🙏

DuLee

Also just wanted to add; I love those big narrative building moments where you can see the story building to something greater in store in the future. It’s things like these that cement the fact that one piece is not just an amazing anime, but peak fiction regardless of its medium.

Miggie88

Bro you gotta dress up ad Usopp now 😂

Mu Nanyo

I wonder what would have happened if any of them put a hand on Nami though. Things would have been resolved super quick.

tris273

That frkn Cherry-Pie dude sets up so much stuff with all he said. He might be a big role fr. Luffy and Zoro felt like they gone through acute Psychosis during and after meeting that dude. The way he screams out sitting on the street even the way it is animated hiding all civilians to focus on Cherry Pie Dudes powerful speech about dreams. You'll soon see all of this through many different perspectives.

Tom Horza

151 is best as a single.

Mu Nanyo

Ron (if you see this) was this filmed before or after your vlog on reacting to the opinion of others?

Goon

Bellamy one of my faves, that bar scene between Bellamy vs luffy then Zoro was TOUGH.

Gene Arias

Is it just me or there is no video?

Chris Bogomas

yea on Patreon it says they removed the vid prob will upload it back soon I think there was an audio issue not sure tho

kurito

fck the cherry pie guy

Sauceless

Don’t disrespect My goat

kurito

When I watched it was fine Chris. Also Saucy White Beard is the true goat lol

Galaxy Nemesis

Aw its gone! I just got my food :( Was the audio that bad? I wish they atleast left the old video up.

Anwar Bethune

It says the vid was removed probably reuploading the vid

Anwar Bethune

Or its on the missing vid website

Manu_C

lol, I literally also just got my food too and was ready to watch it.

Galaxy Nemesis

Our prayers have been answered! Its back up. Enjoy bro haha!

ChocoBoshi

Since Nami isn't a combatant the same way Zoro is, yeah. But not just because she's a woman

B-Rai

Thanks for the edit!

David Barron

if Teddy is going to dress up as Chopper, then Ron should be Usopp and Michelle should be Robin. IYKYK.

beannie

"people's dreams have no end!!" ep 146 made me respect luffy's character way more than i used to, and made me realize that zoro probably would even die for his captain, the way he understood why luffy asked him to literally get beaten without a single question, peak loyalty. as we lowkey say in every single episode LMAO, lots of things that get u confused rn will make sense in the future, istg is true😭

Ty

Dude, I'm so excited!

pink turtle

I guess you guys didn't catch/remember what zoro's and luffy's updated bounties were after the Alabasta arc -- cause it isn't 30 million. As you mentioned, bounties are how strength is measured in One Piece. I think if you remembered what their bounties were, when watching the bar fight where they volunteered themselves to be pummeled, you would also realize how pathetic it was for Bellamy to be looking down on them. Not to take away from the fact that Luffy felt Bellamy wasn't even worth fighting because Bellamy is the antithesis to Luffy - Bellamy is a non-dreamer, he believes in nothing. He just mocks and kills other people's dreams. No point stooping to his level. You guys mentioned that being fulltime reactors is one of your dreams. If someone went out of their way to make fun of what you were doing, you'd probably scoff and not reply bc its a waste of your time. This is essentially Luffy's answer... but to an extreme haha. Take notes - Oda is establishing the theme of this arc... dreams :)

IJALS

I think their point was, let's say Bellamy turns out to be as strong as a warlord who happens to be a jerk. Fighting back over nonsense might put off their trip to Sky Island and might end up injuring more crews. By not fighting, they can save more time and focus on their goal. Like what shanks said before, the lesson was to only fight if necessary, especially when their lives are on the line.

OGNero

Cherry pie guy’s speech is playing the track “I’m going to become King of the Pirates”. Luffy and pie guy look equal but opposite.

SETH DANIEL FERNANDEZ

2 episodes not enough. You should always drop 3 episodes for one piece

Espar

Luffy's just doing what shanks did back then. If you remember luffy reacted to shanks the same way ron reacted to luffy and zoro. Zoro on the other hand, did not need a word more from his captain. Bro understood the assignment instantly. That just shows how far he can go for his captain. I understand your point though. Not everybody gets it.

DerozTY

It's interesting because Luffy was actually ready to fight, but we clearly see him lose all interest the moment he heard about Bellamy's BS speech (just before Bellamy's punch, Luffy closes his eyes like "yeah, not worth it")

Havid Azlan

but u know if they touch nami it will go the other way

Christina H.

If you recall shanks did the same thing with the bandits in the beginning. There are just some fights that aren't worth fighting. Bellamy is the total opposite of who Luffy is. A guy with no dreams wandering aimless through life, mocking other people. If he had attacked Nami Luffy would have fought him. Zoro listened to his captain and understood what he wanted to do. Peak loyalty

DerozTY

Clearly. He only told Zoro not to fight. If they had touched Nami he would have f them up.

DerozTY

lol I think 5 years is still way too early

DerozTY

Luffy is way smarter than people give him credit for (and it's normal, it's part of the character). When he does something that seems out of character, there is probably a deeper meaning behind it than you think. From my point of view, Luffy has also taught Zoro something (Zoro fans are going to hate me for this). These two have the same kind of goal, which is to pit their ambition against everyone else's to get to the top. Luffy understood this and told Zoro not to do the fight because it wasn't worth it, which he understood instantly. Not so for Nami. Her dream has nothing to do with fighting or confronting other people's ambitions, so Luffy didn't tell her anything. If Bellamy and his team had attacked Nami, Luffy would have destroyed them on the spot.

Patrone07

All I'ma say is this episode is insane if you know you know

tris273

Guys remember, you are in Netflix Live Action Season 3 now :'D. They might reveal these EPS you see in the anime rn in 5years or so when the actors are already old and grumpy xd.

Enzo Torales

This episodes are so iconic looking back man for so many reasons

tris273

And even though Luffy is the only character in the Manga that was never shown with a ''thinking-bubble''. He never reflected his thoughts in silence he always just says what he thinks. Yet he is purely intuitive it comes out as cleverness in the end.

DerozTY

Yeah very good point the thinking bubbles. That's something you can't really know by only watching the anime. And even manga readers didn't all notice that

BashaM

Luffy doesn’t fight those that have no dreams (good or bad)… they aren’t worth it. I think he also pities them, as they have nothing to live for. And for Luffy, real pirates and real men are those living freely following their dreams. But if Bellamy had attacked Nami or another dear person, Luffy would have destroyed him. Trust Oda to give us what we want to see at some point :-)

Jacky

“Is not he, they probably ”

Gjermund Norum Bugge

It is a call back to the first scene with Luffy and Shanks in the flashback. Shanks did not fight those bandits because it was not worth it to stir up a fight with some weaklings wanting to pick a fight. But you better believe Shanks will fight them if they try to hurt his Nakama. This is the lesson Luffy had learnt. This scene is mirroring that whilst also enforcing the theme of following and believing in your dreams. This is one of the most important things in One Piece

Mu Nanyo

Yeah earlier one had audio sync issues. If you see this it should be fixed now.

Gjermund Norum Bugge

And trust me. Luffy was going to fight them, and you could sense that. It was the moment where everyone started laughing about their dreams he knew it was not worth it. These guys have no ambition whatsoever.

Usher

So a lot of people in the comments will probably point out what you forgot but I'd say it's better to let it hit you in the face in the upcoming episode🤣

Usher

I can't wait till you see who is also the voice of knuckle(in another series)

Damian Nowak

Just a reminder but Luffy is 100milion and Zoro 60 after Alabasta

Adam

Shanks also did the same thing in front of kid Luffy where he didn’t fight back because they were beneath them

RorotheShadow

Luffy was just doing what he learned from Shanks. Remember when Luffy was a kid, Shanks was "bullied" by some bandits, but he just ignored it because he quickly realized that they weren't worth picking a fight with. At the time, Luffy had also asked why Shanks allowed them to talk so badly about him and even pour beer on him and stuff like that, because Shanks could have just defend himself. But Shanks then told him that little bit wasn't worth starting trouble. So Luffy learned from Shanks that a real man shouldn't get on such a low level. Shanks is Luffy's role model through and through! 😊😊 But yeah, if those guys had attacked Nami, Luffy would have beat them for sure. I mean, he also learned from Shanks that others can do anything to him as long as it only affects him, but if someone hurts his friends, he immediately intervenes. The only reason why Luffy didn't do anything when the guys punched Zoro was because he told Zoro not to do something and, above all, because he knows full well that Zoro can easily take the hits from these idiots 😂😂

Usher

They did recall that I'm pretty sure, since Ron mentioned "idc if you pour drink at me but if you hurt my friends, I wont forgive you

Usher

Kinda spoiler at this point Oda stated that if Luffy told him to kill a crewmate, Zoro would do it

Usher

Thorkell has the cherry pie's guy voice tbh🤣

No Remorse

You can tell you guys watched black clover right before this lol *hue Ha*

DY

everybody noticed the pandaman at 8:39? :) and chopper falling into the ocean and zoro straight up jumping after to save him at 32:59? :)) 44:34 Luffy wanted to beat his ass when Bellamy blew him into the table, but as soon as started saying all the bullshit about the ''legends'' not existing at all - luffy calmed down and just felt sorry for him not even having any dream .and at that point everything changed. he ordered Zoro not to fight and Luffy didnt get angry at them for beating them up especilly he knows Luffy and especially Zoro are tough mthrfckers so they would be okay no matter how much those weak *ss fckrs would beat them. they really weren't even worth to take on. and Zoro even if he doesn't understand what Luffy wants still blindly does anything his captain orders, he is that loyal to Luffy of course you will find out more as you keep watching can't wait for the next weeks drops!!!!! P.S. I can't believe it's almost half a year since you started One Piece! and that's for how long I am a sushi squad :)

Kae

ngl I never felt like them holding back was based on anything really significant. The best thing that came from it was us seeing how loyal Zoro is to his captain.

DY

if you end up with someone ike blackbeard on your ship, then maybe yeah. tho luffy doesn't want a big crew, just the real mans and true frieends

David Barron

They’ve talked about the logistics around doing more than two episodes a drop being too hard for them at the moment… but the saga after this is going to be brutal at just four episodes a week.

Jay

These two episodes are the epitome of one piece. Luffy telling zoro not to retaliate shows Zoro’s respect and loyalty to luffy. The fact that they did not fight back because it was a fight not worthy of fighting is the pinnacle of luffy. Shanks taught him from the beginning some fights are not with it when the opponent is weaker or has no dream of their own. The new era Bellamy speaks of is BS, and the fight he wanted was to test luffy. Which is why luffy did not want to fight there was nothing on the line.

Thorbaccha

i think you guys need to up the one piece drops to thrice a week two aint enough

Quadreek Jackson

you guys are moving along great the arc after this one made one piece my favorite anime!!!

Phyllis

It's because they were not even worth lifting a finger or to argue with. Pirates who give up dreaming finding the One Piece and saying it's fake because they themselves can't find it are not real pirates to Luffy. There are some things Luffy can be persistent on and this would be one of them. About the 'he' and 'they' conversation between Luffy, Zoro and Nami, you guys will find out more in far future videos.

Phyllis

Dislike those cherry pies like Luffy~

klairvoyage

Early on in the series, when asked why Luffy doesn't kill his enemies, Oda responded that: "in the One Piece world, where characters live to fulfill their dreams, having their dreams shattered, by Luffy defeating them, is actually more devastating than death" And I think that perfectly encapsulates why Luffy didn't feel the need to fight Bellamy here (Shanks aside ofc)

beannie

to me that sounds random and out of character for both of them but I guess is just to flex zoros loyalty? haha

Usher

Oda likes to flex what if scenarios because he knows they'll never actually happen. That's my take at least🤣

Chris Mittoo

Yall ready don't know the journey yall about to go on with One Piece lol...I'm here for it though

RedEyeItachi

Luffy only fights people who r in his way to accomplishing his dream and people who hurt people he deems friends. Bellamy didn’t cause harm to any of his friends and since Bellamy personally has no dreams or aspirations Luffy doesn’t view him as a threat nor someone he needs to fight. I don’t remember when the scene is so it might be a spoiler but when they show Luffys backstory with shanks it will show u y Luffy does some things the way he does them

Andy Andy

Because Luffy also wants to control his emotions like Shanks, just like Shanks was humiliated by pirates before

The CulturedGentleman

Anime aside, u know what I discovered lately? Ive grown so attached to u guys at this point its almost like were family lol U have become a part of my regular day to day routine to the point where I cant see myself not watching your content. Im a busy man, so im not subscribed to many people on patreon but u guys are the only ones I look out for your videos, comment on almost everything and will even take time out of my day to either watch something or anything really. The point is, U guys have such amazing personalities and I think ur doing a really amazing job. Looking forward to all the different journeys we get to go along with u on. Take Care and Thank u so much! I dont think im the only one who feel this way.

The CulturedGentleman

The implications of these episodes of the Luffy/Zoro character relationship vs the ways their dreams are similar but also different goes way deeper than you can imagine. I will at some point write a whole long ass paragraph about it, but i wanna wait until sanji's character development comes into play because they are all interlinked. Oda's writing is just GOD level man...

The CulturedGentleman

Ron, the writing in One Piece is the best part about this anime. Please dont make the mistake and take it surface level. Both of u guys have to pay close attention to the small details and read between the lines sometimes. Bellamy just told Luffy his dream of not only chasing the One Piece but merely believing in its existence is a lie. Bellamy has no dream. To luffy, hes a man already defeated in life and so there was no reason to physically beat him up. Zoro's dream is directly tied to Luffy's, because he has to believe in himself without faltering for a second, that he has what it takes to be the World's strongest swordsman. This is just to show us the viewers how much Luffy and Zoro value their dreams and how unwavering their resolve is.

tris273

Finally someone says that. They really deserve all in the world for me.

Phoenix

Lol, you think this arc is gonna be focused on Luffy fighting Bellamy? Man, Bellamy is such a forgettable character, I completely forgot he even had lines to say.

branco marolia

Guys Bellamy is honestly insignificant in the saga of one piece the reason Luffy didn't fight was well explained through visuals of shanks and Ace they are people who have always taught Luffy to show restraint and not get too emotional to the point of losing control

Marco St

Stop spoilers.

Marco St

Stop with the spoilers my man.

Marco St

Stop spoiling the show, let them watch.

Phoenix

With all the characters that pop up in this arc, and over One Piece as a whole, Bellamy is quite forgettable. Of course, I still remember that he's a character and other stuff but honestly, since each arc only gets better, it's hard to remember characters that only come up briefly/for one arc.

Usher

You know it😤

Karaka

I don’t think you guys noticed, but the cherry pie guy said in the bar that the drinks taste awful but after he made his speech to Luffy he said the drinks taste good.

Antonio Ricardo

I got goosebumps when Luffy met the cherry pie guy 😂 never realized

Darren Metts

“No not opposites the same” 😂

Darren Metts

Only real men understood the assignment immediately

Darren Metts

“He’s gonna play a roll later I feel like” I know yall just finished up marineford as I say this but it’s still trust me you have no effing idea omg

Chillin Raichu

Imma do you like Bellamy did Luffy in the bar lol jk
