What you guys are not seeing is the subtle foreshadowing Oda Sensei throws into the story building up events to come. We don't expect u to know, or catch anything - just have fun with the arc as u go on this journey. But im telling you, its crazy how well balanced this story is. Im so excited for u guys! I wish i could rewatch One Piece all over again for the first time

You seem a little confused by the comments, everything should make sense by the end of this arc but a lot of plot points made in it are reopened and touched upon later in the series. You shouldn't be confused at all by the end.
