Luffy’s fruit name is Gomu Gomu no mi. Gomu is Japanese for rubber. He’s a rubber man so he gains all the weaknesses and strengths of the qualities of rubber. Rubber is an insulator 🫡

Gomu does mean rubber in Japanese. "Gum Gum" is just a convenient english localization thing. It sounds close enough to "gomu" while still getting across the theme of Luffy's ability to stretch. It also helps with the english dubbing process of the anime, "gum gum" fits the mouth animations better than "rubber rubber". EDIT: Actually after thinking about it I might be wrong about that, but it still does sound better. No one in Skypiea other than Enel or Pierre (the big pink bird) has a Devil Fruit. Inhabitants of these Sky Islands mainly rely on dials and mantra for combat.

In all fairness, Naruto episodes are showing peak period of the show. On the other hand, These One Piece ones are not the peak of the show, so it's unfair to compare. We can compare the 2 shows when we are watching their peaks I think.

So, it's translation, but technically he's saying "gomu gomu", which in Japanese, and this is also the case for Korean too, but that means rubber. He's saying he ate the rubber fruit but when they translated it (dub included), they put gum-gum. and one more thing. Devil fruits does not equal mantra. mantra is something else - you'll find out details later, but mantra is what allowed the 4 priests and Enel to hear in a wide range and predict their enemy movements. The priests didn't eat devil fruits

Illiterates here have claimed I was spoiling before when by literal definition, I wasn't. However your comment is a spoiler going by its dictionary definition. You can tell from their video they weren't sure if luffy's fruit would overcome Enel, but now after this comment saying he gains qualities of rubber plus that rubber is an insulator they are 100 percent sure. Even other first time watchers that knew Luffy had properties of rubber and literally pointed that fact out weren't sure if it would affect Enel's lightning, because if the amount of volts go up into the millions like he says in his attacks, realistically the energy alone would rip, burn and tear through rubber just like it did with Gan Fall's helmet. well theres no more speculation on what itll do to luffy, this comment was way too obvious, shouldve just stopped at explaining what Gomu meant. That way you wouldnt be alluding to any future plot development, which is by definition what a spoiler is

Regarding Luffy’s being rubber, Oda confirmed Luffy’ whole body, not only the skin but also his organs and insides (and yes, also down there ~wink wink~) are made of rubber and can stretch. Like with all the devil fruits, the person gets all the strengths and weaknesses of the element/thing inherited from the fruit. For example, we can assume Ace’s fire abilities are weak against a water based power. Again, rubber can be cut, so can Luffy, etc…

The 4 priests under Eneru uses dials to fight. And also Mantra. No devil fruits were mentioned. - Ohm (Priest of the Ordeal of Iron). He has a battle pet dog named Holy. He uses Milky Dials as well as an Eisen Dial, which generate a substance known as "Iron Cloud" that has the toughness and sharpness of iron, but can move freely like normal clouds. - Satori (Priest of the Ordeal of Balls) He has a pair of Impact Dials bound beneath his gloves; like all Impact Dials, these can absorb the force of an opponent's attacks and re-release it as a powerful shockwave. - Gedatsu (Priest of the Ordeal of Swamp) He has Milky Dials in his shoes that allow him to fly. Using two special Dials hidden in his sleeves, Gedatsu creates a big blob of swamp cloud and throws it at his opponent trying to capture them inside. If the cloud hits the head of his opponent he would not be able to breathe as it has the properties of a swamp and the density of a cloud. He also activates one of the extinct Jet Dials on his elbows to throw a punch so fast that he disappears. (Nami's waver that they found dropping into the Blue Sea and fixed up also has the extinct Jet Dials. The current wavers in Skypiea uses Breath Dials which are slower.) - Shura (Priest of the Ordeal of String). He has a battle pet Fuza the Bird. He fights with a spear called Heat Javelin, which has a Heat Dial inside it, granting incendiary capabilities to the weapon, which burns whatever it strikes. The animal has a Flame Dial in his mouth, and so has the ability of breathing fire.

Ron, yes, that's the first time Wyper got close to Enel. Michelle, non of the priests had devil fruit powers. enel is the only person that had a devil fruit in the whole sky island (not counting the bird-horse)

its not actually the Gum-Gum fruit, but Gumo-Gumo fruit which is rubber in japanese. it just spelled as Gum to sound better.
