Raden

Animation was on another level this episode. Basically no dialog with that backstory yet so much emotion conveyed

지원

Peak

KBomb

Wasn't excited for this one, it's been just emotional damage all day T^T

electriq

one of the best anime episodes ive seen in a fat minute ngl. came outta nowhere too

Yumaaa

Holy shit was not expecting this from a Dandadan episode :'(

Amare D.

OMG!! My heart was beating so hard

Wsgyan

Her daughter died and that last scene was aira talking about acro silky and her daughter going to the afterlife, silky killed herself by jumping off a roof because her daughter died she didn’t survive wtv those guys that kidnapped her did to her so yeah she just killed herself that’s what you could see with her dancing with the water etc and then jumping off

Andres

Bet y’all thought it wouldn’t be Dan Da Dan of all shows to make you cry huh 😂 it’s so good honestly

EnzoTorales

Probably the most I cried with an anime after One Piece

Delinger

This was a heartbreaking backstory. The daughter looking and acting like a real child (and knowing that fucked up shit like child trafficking actually happens) made this especially gut wrenching to watch 😢

지원

You'd better not know what happened to daughter

Manny Garcia

This show is so amazing guys it’s so peak mannn this was such a great reaction love yall we locked in 😤🔒 this episode was so beautifully done

Retro

Holy shit yo it got us this show I so amazing

Boggie

It almost makes me wonder if Aira after giving this spirit peace and her previous affiliation using Religion to try to fight spirits. If she will become sort of the one that will help spirits they defeat cross over to the next life

Tyjutsuu

Anime of the year

botanbutton

From the end of episode 3 to the end of episode 4, I should have known. A few moments were already stand out ones to me showing some truly emotional and thematic depth to the story of DanDaDan. This episode just slapped everyone in the face with it. The amount of sadness and warmth I feel at the end of this ep. is just tremendous. I'm trying to keep from reading the manga now. Ugh.

LoneCourier21

I hope Aira becomes an Exorcist. Like now she has a purpose to bring spirits peace and help them move on from the material world. I can't believe still we got a human trafficking element. Imagine how often this happens not just at the border, but all over the US and the rest of the world.

Jasper Tan

Patiently waiting for the day they react to oshi no ko. 🙂

TurtleHubby

Is it weird I don't watch the eps on my own anymore? I just watch it here with them now haha

TurtleHubby

Their choice of direction, music, and art makes this such a good anime adaptation! If only all mangas got the same treatment q.q

CartierCasket

Hey Ron where did you get that T-shirt? I like the fit

Tony Acosta

Speaking of finishing animes. I think the fate/night series would be worth checking out!

ekrook

I have seen a lot of anime and NOTHING compare to this, fucking brilliant episode.

Damien Lee

The brilliance of the writing, and of course the animation. What they did in half an episode to invoke such emotions on viewers is simply amazing

aidan decristofaro

this anime/manga is absolutely insane. I've never cried as hard as I have watching anime besides one piece, naruto, and AOT but holy shit the emotions were hitting the fuck outta me man lol. I've also finished what I think will be the first season in the manga, about 34-36 chapters, and its the first manga i've decided to read and it is not disappointing at all.

Itscurlyman

The other side of life is too much. This made me cry dawg 😭 the writing of this anime is amazing.

Gabriel Senpai

this show is amazing so far, Im really happy to be watching it... (happy and crying but you get me)

Damien Lee

Its a great series that should totally be up Ron's alley, but only if you also read the novel, otherwise it gets messy. They will probably need to research what to watch first and also be guided along the way for the storyline

Phyllis

The anime didn't show but the dancing scene represented that she jumped. The manga did have a scene of her on a roof dancing after losing her daughter. RIP Silky. T-T

Hussaw

Brilliant indeed but nothing? Not watched enough

_Kiing

I randomly got smacked with feelings all of a sudden💀

Ian

its def implied in the anime as well, while she's dancing you see buildings in the background, as she jumps the background zooms passed the angle of her body changes and then the loud thud of her body.

Phyllis

To younger audiences, they may not understand that scene that she actually jumped. Some people may understand but there are some who don't. Just saying.

ekrook

As far as a single episode, no nothing else. Please give me tips if you know something that can top this. ^^

JG

Edward check violet evergarden episode 10 that one gives u the feelies too =]

Hussaw

Dororo, Aot, One piece, Monster etc

envy

implied yes, but i don’t think enough. lol i wasn’t sure what happened till i read these comments

envy

That soundtrack though??🤧

Tacosareneat

In regards to your fear of "running out of good anime", all I'll say is it's a real fear and it fucking sucks lmao. There's obviously still good stuff coming out, but I'm so envious of the position you guys are in. You have so many legendary shows on the horizon, so be excited and don't feel sad just yet 🙏🏼😌 you still have shows you've yet to watch that are JUST as hype as Naruto, you just don't know it yet.

TurtleHubby

They still have soooo many good things to watch. The only issue is that since this is their career, they have to make sure to choose ones which will gather views. An obscure anime may be amazing but may not bring people to watch on youtube.

Tacosareneat

I think they'll be able to find a healthy balance of what they fit in the schedule 👌🏼. And also they're going to reach a point through slowly eliminating the top ones and will end up watching everything. 5 years from now they're gonna be watching stuff like like soul eater or Inuyasha because they've watched everything else lol and I'm here for that. At that point they'll probably sprinkle other mainstream stuff in like star wars like they're doing rn.

Rocketboy

+1 for violet evergarden!

Cold_Cyber

Don’t worry guys you guys have probably only good shows to watch for the next 10 years maybe after that it will slow down xD

JohnWicks

I believe she took money from a loan shark to buy the dress and couldn't pay the "interest." That's what caused these people to attack her.

Meo Zac

If you guys notice, the mom keep on selling her body just to get money to settle her debts...it's quite sad she had to go through all of that and keeping her daughter happiness at the same time

ekrook

I have already seen all of them, not as emotional trigger for me as this was. Thanks for the tips though.

ekrook

Okey ^^

stickersboyme

In a world where spirits and aliens take the spotlight, this episode reveals that it is humanity that is truly the most terrifying

kalaak

for real

kalaak

I wonder if we will ever find the whereabouts of her real daughter

Victor S

this episode is so well directed and written, so much details... For example the kid always using a shirt with a frog on it... Frog in japanese (蛙 - kaeru) sound exacly like 帰る(Kaeru) that means "To return, To come home...", is a metaphorical way the author uses to show that the daughter misses her mom, who has to work so hard as janitor, take the night shift in a convenience store and even prostitution. And there's more details in this episode that shows how brilliant the author is

Jon Snow

Her real daughter is most likely dead as she was taken by the yakuza. Also, Aira said, "Please guide them both to a better place"

Shawn Jacey Gonzales

So how did Aira mistake it for her mother if she jumped off the building? Hasn't she seen a ghost yet that time?

Phyllis

@SJG I'm not sure about other countries but in Japan young children are said to be able to see some spirits when they are below the age of 7 and when they grow up, they tend to not be able to see them after and forget since they were still at a young age whenthey could see them. When Aira saw Silky, Silky had already died and became a wandering lost spirit. Aira saw Silky as a wandering spirit at that time and didn't know Silky was a spirit and called her mommy thinking it was her real mother. No one could see the bloodied Silky in the crowd when Aira called out to her. When she saw Aira calling her mommy, it invoked certain memories to protect her 'child' which was Silky lingering regret in the human world and cannot die in peace. To be clear, Silky is not Aira's mother. Aira's mother had died and young Aira was probably looking for her absent mother which she didn't understand that had died and her father was telling her that her mother had gone to a faraway place.

B-Rai

Has anyone seen Dan Da Dan in Dub? I heard it’s good

Space

dub is way funnier and just as good

B-Rai

Cool, I’ll check it out

dolo

Nothing compare to this. And I've watched more than 100 anime, I have 800+ mangas. There is no other anime which can do this in only one episode, with a random character.

dolo

Dororo, one piece, monster, aot, violet... i've seen all of this and they dont have one episode which is more impacful than this episode with a random character. And you can easily see that with the number of creators who cried on this episode, even those who never cry.

dolo

Manga of the year and probably of this gen.

kirk poss

This episode was perfection. This is art.

April Ly

This episode had no business being this sad. I was straight ugly crying

King Kai

Omg wow. This episode, this story is top tier Hayao Miyazaki top tier

hawa

i did not expect to cry so hard at 3am after randomly deciding to continue this show

swindi

this episode made me ugly-cry
