I believe anyone whose power can’t be read on the machine is considered S rank. So they have no way of knowing how strong they are at that point of how they compare to other S hunters.

Id say a similar comparison to what you, mentioned 10 mins in, to Jinwoo (and his dad, who beat the one s-rank immediately) being S-rank would be Gojo/Sukuna. They are special grade, but are seemingly miles above everyone else with that same rank

To answer ur question, no there’s never been anyone who can get stronger than their assessed ranked they mentioned that in the first season. And also when it comes to jin ho’s dad if u remember in the first season he also said he doesn’t have any magic so him getting sick i feel like wouldn’t really be that uncommon

Just want to say something general not specific to solo leveling but any show. If something happends to side characters in the story it dosent mean main character is responsible for what happened to them it's a way to expand the story of the world they in and not just the story of the main character.

It’ll also be like in naruto where u have jonins like guy and kakashi and jonins like iruka. Or even kid Gaara still being a genin when he was stronger than his entire village. Ranking system in solo leveling is the same as other animes

I could be onto nothing at all, but I find it weird that normal dungeons hunters go into seem to just be caves and labyrinths while when jinwoo goes into his special dungeons there seems to be broken and abandoned buildings and cars and etc as if there was a lost human civilization there.

An S rank hunter just meant their power can't be measured so one S rank can be stronger than another S rank but in jins case he can keep getting stronger trying not to spoil it but you already know he can always keep leveling up

This, S rank is strong enough to not be able to be measured. So the "level of power" in the S rank class can vary wildly.

i agree, but this is just factoring in Korean s ranks. outside of korea there are stronger s ranks seeing as korea only has 10 and isn’t that large population wise. but in the case of sung il hwan he really is light years ahead of any s rank no matter the country, jin woo isn’t at this point in the series
