haha it’s actually like impossible to deduce the backstory of the village😅 I was equal parts confused and intrigued on my first watch. And even after having watched this anime multiple times over, i can say there are no clues that would lead you to the truth that will be revealed 😋

When Senku was discussing healing methods, he stated the 2 routes would be to find the penincillin mold or the sulfa-drug route. Finding the penicillin mold was extremely unlikely since it's like finding a microscopic needle in a haystack, so the only choice was to go through the sulfa-drug route, which wasn't ideal because sulfa-drugs are less potent and carry too many side-effects,
