The flash of Maomao's expression is one of the coolest shots in the show. They really sold why she didn't have to say a single word for Jinshi to back off, drop the topic, and promise to find a way to refuse Lakan on her behalf. All of that when she's "just" his servant girl... really speaks volumes.

I like this anime. I’m glad you guys are reacting to it. I read all 14 light novels and waiting for the 15th volume to be released in Sept on Apple Books. Maomao and Jinshi’s character development is amazing.

Yeah, Maomao doesn't realize how scary she can be. She's still puzzled by how scared Lihua's ladies-in-waiting are when they see her lol. I'm sure she thinks she's just being a little stern with them, while we're here thinking, "Naw, girl, you scary af, sometimes" lol. But yeah, Jinshi just saw an expression on her face he never wants to see again. One thing I love about watching reactions to a show that's already done is that I don't have to worry about spoiling you, especially since I haven't read the light novels or the manga. I love the misdirection they give you regarding Lakan. They make him seem like the worst guy in the world when he's really just misunderstood, albeit, by his own hand since he believes he's guilty (still, the old lady at the Verdigris House lied to him, which made him feel even more guilty). I'm about to start the second half of your cour 2 of season 1 reactions 👍
