They translated it here as captain, but Ace adressed Jinbe as "oyabun". It's a term yakuza use to refer to their leader or the head of their organization/family. Boss would've been the appropriate translation. The reason will become more apparent later. As for Shiki. There's the movie Strong World that features him and episode 0 which serves as a prelude. But that is better watched at some point after the next arc has started.

Subtitles be weird sometimes…Ace didn’t call Jimbei “Captain” he said “Boss” It’s never really explained directly in the show why but Jimbei is a very Yakuza themed character & is a master of Fishman Karate so the people of Fishman Island all call him “Oyabun” which is a Yakuza term for “Boss” or “Chieftan” & I guess Ace is just being respectful of that title that Jimbei has amongst his people

The real reason will reveal itself Garp should’ve been the Navy fleet admiral for years and years decades Garp specifically chooses to be a vice. He is not someone you can just put in line. He is just as rebellious as Luffy may be a little less because of his age. Michelle said it right he does not give a fuck and that scares everyone in the Navy.

The hero of the marines title isn’t explained yet. But it was already mentioned in ep 313/314 that Garp used to corner Roger back in the days and Rayleigh just told the strawhats that Roger allowed the navy to capture him so they didn’t really capture him either.

Roger turned himself in guys, it was a very big reveal from Rayleigh too lol (but it’s understandable since it’s a very long show…it’s not easy to remember things unless you binge watch it tbf) And some ppl in the comments are making it a bit confusing but Garps “Hero of the Marines” title is not necessarily just for one specific thing…he’s an old dude who’s been in the Navy for awhile & has obviously done many big things throughout his career…you’ll find out about all this eventually In Water 7 it was also mentioned that he used to go toe to toe with Roger & cornered him on many occasions So the reason they can’t hold him accountable for his son & his two grandsons “crimes” is simply cuz he’s too important to the Navy I can’t wait for you guys to learn and see more about Garp…he’s my 2nd favourite character after Luffy

Tesla’s towers would have been cool since we wouldn’t need power lines, but it in no way would have been free. All power still needs power sources to be built and maintained, which cost a lot of money. I generate a lot of my own electricity for my house, and it still costs me. It’s a fun conspiracy theory that “they” killed Tesla for his genius, but the real world usually doesn’t have clear cut heroes and villains like that. Plus the dude was like 86 and sickly when he kicked the bucket, so ya know…not that shocking.

Mihawk was introduced in the live action because he was introduced that early in the anime too. Both anime and live action introduced him at Baratie and clarified that he’s zoro’s goal. Only when Zoro defeats him can he be the world’s greatest swordsman since that honor right now is given to Mihawk.

Hawk-eye was introduced in the anime very early on to kind of show the power level difference between the crew and the grand line. Luffy goes on about being pirate king and Zoro wanting to be the worlds greatest swordsman all while they were still in east blue. So his introduction is like to tell us and the crew this is the power level to be expected in the grand line. So it is kind of like a reality check for the crew. Hawk-eye after defeating Zoro even tells luffy being the pirate king is far more difficult than surpassing him.
