Idk if y’all remember but it was explained a while ago that Blackbeard feels a lot more pain than the average person because his fruit

Majoz

blackbeard has said this before guys, things cant pass through him because darkness drags everything in, you really should have notes about the different characters

Enziuh

Mann… watching this with you guys and what’s going on in the manga… oda you truly are a genius. Also, there’s a reason shanks warned WB to not let ace try and fight him, shanks who’s one of the 4 emperors of the sea was cautious of a subordinate on WB ship who wasn’t even a commander should let you know BB is no joke.

Baba Conde

Blackbeard powers comes with some negatives he’s body takes double the damage or more when he gets hit it’s a unique logia

Wingsxofxfreedom

One of the reasons One piece is good cause it gives Even characters who are insignificant in the grand schemes of the Story screen time.

Delinger

Impel Down is a messed up place and let's not talk about the World Government in general, but Hannyabal trying to hold it down definitely deserves respect. In this situation Luffy simply doesn't care that his actions could potentially endanger innocent people. And the short flashback for Hannybal was filler btw xD

Yaz

You’re getting to a point where even people who are caught up are still have questions 😂

Delinger

This right here. Some people confuse pain with damage. It definitely should be kept in mind when you see Blackbeard's reaction to getting hit by attacks. Like the pain of Magellan's poison was already terrible for even someone like Luffy who's an absolute endurance machine. So Blackbeard feeling it even more is crazy.

iixii Boxx

Sushiii squaddddd🍣❤️❤️❤️❤️

Harsh Sharma

Not really, they can watch however they want, and it's ok to forget. You do you, keep taking your notes.

Strawhat Gabo

Blackbeard always cooking yet you never know anything he’s planning

Majoz

Being passive aggressive really isn't cool dude, it was a recommendation, because I don't want them being confused, it's a long show, chill

GoundG

Note on Blackbeard as it has been revealed by Blackbeard in a previous episode He ate the darkness fruit 1: Able to manipulate darkness 2: Able to absorb/pull stuff into his darkness like a black hole (except it doesn't automatically crush everything) 3: Able to absorb and neutralize other devil fruit users power by touching them (as long as he touches another user he can turn off their fruit) 4: Not able to be intangible like every other Logia fruit, he needs to actively absorb an attack and use point 2 and 3 to counter an attack, if he doesn't/can't stop an attack and is hit then his fruit draws in more damage He basically have zero evasion, takes double dmg, get anti fruit powers, attract and repell powers The 1 thing that's the most important about his fruit and it's the one thing you guys missed and it's that it's a logia fruit that is not like every other Logia fruit for a reason and can't make the user intangible

Dynn Uchiha

it has been explained,bb devil fruit is logia but he cant materialised his body like other logia fruit and any attack he received will times 2 or atleast abit more. ep 325 is where he explain it to ace

To To

Darkness fruit is not a logia type if I remember right like the fire or the light

harinder

Maggelan the only guy that was about to end the 2 main guy in a show 😂 what a chad

Dandy Zoran

I think Blackbeard explained why he gets hit before? I could be wrong 😆

Dominic

I think the majority of people did not write down notes while watching one piece and they didnt get confused. Especially since one piece is a show where everything is going to get explained 2-3 times over with flashbackes and so on. Should be fine.

Natthorn Rangseesakhon

Yes, Blackbeard is about to “put on a show that’s gonna shake the whole world” I can’t say anything. Just wait, you guys will see XD

GG420

The crazy thing about op is that we see everything from luffys perspective but if you look at the big picture, 99% of pirates arent like luffy they just raid and kill people for a living so what hanyaball was saying makes alot of sense

Majoz

Yeah I never took notes, cuz I rewatched some scenes, but I don't think the fact that the dark dark fruit isn't a regular logia and that it doesn't let objects pass through it gets taken up again

PumpDaddyD

I was also lost why blackbeard was there when I 1st saw this, my ass was pasing back in 4th 🤣🤣🤣 "clicks next episode"

Michael H

I love Blackbeard so damn much. He’s such an interesting villain. He’s a dreamer, kinda goofy, pulls outrageous stunts, seems close to his crew, and is not immune to taking the odd L; he honestly feels like a funhouse mirror version of Luffy. On a side note, you’re looking sharp today, Ron. Good hair day or something.

100Rainy

A staple characteristic of Logia type powers is that most attacks pass right through you and deal no damage. Exploiting the natural weakness of any particular fruit is one known method of bypassing that natural Logia intangibility; such as Crocodile's sand hardening in contact with moisture or Enel's lightning being nullified by rubber. Blackbeard's devil fruit is so far the only exception to this established rule despite also being classified as a Logia ability. This is why he's still susceptible to basic physical attacks. Not only that but one notable drawback of Blackbeard's Dark Dark fruit is that it apparently amplifies the damage of any attacks that hit him. So on top of the usual Devil Fruit weaknesses, Blackbeard also suffers twice the pain of any injury he receives. But in exchange he can now negate and critically wound any devil fruit user he comes across no matter what their natural defenses are. A risky tradeoff that Blackbeard seems to believe was worth taking.

The CulturedGentleman

Id say it was definitely worth taking that risk. Some devil fruits are downright busted and if you are someone that dreams big, that is massive.

DanzoWasRight

Blackbeard is like the opposite of Luffy when it comes to Morality, every other feature is pretty much the same, there both goofy, risk takers, careless, dreamers and ambitious. I wouldn't; say Blackbeard is calculated, more like cunning and a true pirate.

Natacha

Watching reactions of One piece makes up for watching it alone, we can share our thoughts and see if you guys feels the same

100Rainy

What I like about Blackbeard is that nothing is ever personal with him. He takes his losses on the chin and everyone he goes after is just purely out of circumstance, not for any malicious grudge or something. Bro is an opportunist who only ever has his goals in mind and always does what's necessary to make it happen. For example he just got his shit rocked by Luffy but he's not even mad about it. Luffy says he's gonna rescue Ace but BB isn't even talking down to him, in fact he reaffirms his desires and tells Luffy to keep fighting. He definitely sees Luffy as a worthy fellow pirate, possibly even a kindred spirit. It's not like he planned for Ace to be his target, things just kinda happened that way. So if Luffy does find some way to save Ace it's not like it affects BB at all since the man already got what he wanted out of this.

kirk poss

You definitely should not know what blackbeards plan is.... buuuut theres only one thing in a prison.

Nelson Hernandez

Blackbeard already made a name for himself by defeating Ace. So he doesn’t need to Kill Luffy. He wants to be King of the Pirates. So what does he need?

lordjaggi

yeah i just watch OP and not think too much, far too much information to keep up with lol.

victoria t

The dark-dark fruit isn’t like other logias. Blackbeard explained the power during his fight with Ace. He can’t just go through normal attacks like other logia users, his body takes all the damage is exchange for the upsides of the power

victoria t

Yes it is. It just works differently than all other logias. Blackbeard explained his power during his fight with Ace

Jon.G

Michelle is cooking lmao!

David Barron

This is my favorite arc in OP. It's action from start to finish. Also, it's understandable to forget Usopp. Unfortunetly, it's something Oda does to our king too 😭.

KoKo JoJo

The Warden is HIM!

Josh

Everyone dislikes Hannyabal, and I get it. But you have to realize he is only doing his job. To him, some rookie pirate broke into the prison he works at, and is now trying to break out a majority of the inmates in there. This isn't just a normal prison, it houses some of the worst criminals. So I understand why he fought back so hard. We see Luffy and the others as good people, but to the rest of the world pirates are criminals. The man is literally willing to give his life to make sure those criminals don't escape. I actually respect that.

Bak choy

He definitely did during his fight with Ace in episode 325

Bak choy

Yes it is only exception to logia that it doesn’t allow things to pass through but instead amplifies damage it was stated episode 325

Strawhat Gabo

yeah to me marineford is where one piece became my number 1

Adams

Magelan is extremly strong or he wouldnt be in charge of guarding infamous names like Ace, multiple warlords etc

LJ

Ron to your point about us OP fans who watch this show alone and are theorizing or did theorize back when these episodes aired originally. Remember the OP community is huge there are literal OP youtube channels with hundreds of thousands to millions of subscribers dedicated to weekly OP content, which includes episode and manga reviews and Theory videos. I wish you both could experience Theory videos because it is one of the best parts of being an OP fan imo. Their have been wild theories thrown out by the community over the last 28yrs some fans have predicted things correctly but most are wrong but it is all fun. I wish I could share some because some are wild haha

Ultimate Winner

I love Blackbeard. he may be evil, but he brings a level of chaotic and chaos to One Piece. He is vital, but a dark horse. literally, he got a horse guy and darkness. Anyway Blackbeard cannot let attack go through him like Ace and stuff. He is the only logia that can take hits, because instead of his element letting things through. his element actually sucks/attract the attack to him even at more power. So he actually takes more damage than usual. That is why he is always flailing arond after getting punched or attacked. He is actually taking more damage than usual. So he has to be kinda a tank to use this power or be good at dodging (he doesnt do some reason). And Magellan actually shows us a way to defeat BB technically. He just sent poison that basically stop Blackbeard in his track before he could even use his power.

Z

Im here again to tell yall to do an offscreen recap up till this point. This is top 3 most important arcs. You will need to be familiar with lore on the outside world to keep up after this arc. Dragon, blacc beard, will of d, poneglyphs, elders..

Austin M

A lot of the prisoners that are part of the jail break are terrible criminals..of course Hannyabal wouldn’t want them released out of prison and would go all out to do his job?

Muhd Irvan

Yeah blackbeard is op but just so u know magellan is maybe same power level as Admiral, so yeah magellan one tap him like that

Jay

I can’t wait to catch up and watch all those theory videos and stuff

EXXORO

magellan has always been one of my favorites. Always winning his fights and has a sick design.

TurtleHubby

absolutely love this arc. one piece is so good

SomeoneElse

One Piece has such good moral convolutions. Luffy is definitely a a bad guy here. Sure some of the prisoners are nice people, but a lot are BAD guys like Crocodile, and Luffy is partially responsible for letting them all out for his own selfish reasons. It's a super interesting setup. You will be unquestionably rooting for Luffy and then when Hannyabal stands up to him and talks about how they are trying to protect the world from these criminals it's like, oh yea, I kinda forgot about that... And it makes you respect these characters that are technically bad guys to us because they are against the MC, but in the grand scheme of the world they are the good guys.

Den Wolf

Blackbeard is not as strong as you believe. Also, his reason for being here is quite obvious, it is just easy to overlook it.

Drewski

luffy is a bad guy is the funniest thing you could ever say

Arrow

funny enough he's not wrong he is a bad guy in other peoples eyes but the ones he helps 😂

Chop Chop Chopper

with the minor connotation that the whole world has been oppressed and enslaved for at least 800 years and that there is no moral authority in this world. It’s not a coincidence that Luffy rallies all the morally GOOD guys behind him from chapter 1 to chapter 1143. Because he is not a BAD guy. Got that twisted brother.

Chop Chop Chopper

That’s god for you I guess. But why is that important here?

Mario Garcia

Same lvl as an admiral? Naw no where near that

Seren Huerta

If you wanna be more hyped about Blackbeard, remember that Shank's scar that he has on his eye was made by Blackbeard

Usher

Ain't no way Buggy pulled the Gohan insult🤣

Adrien AURY

Things get serious when Luffy stops smiling (and when Zoro starts)

Usher

Again, blackbeard is the only logia that can physically get hit

Usher

The ending with magellan was CRIMINALLY good

Stew

In this episode alone, he killed dozens of other people's brothers to try to save his. We're supposed to believe they survived somehow, but throwing them into boiling blood? That's murder, those are BAD things he's doing. They're working in a prison, making money for their families, and a pirate comes in and throws them into boiling blood. Luffy is an anti-hero; he's extremely selfish. Like it or not, he's a bad guy. Buggy, Crocodile, Mr.1, Mr.3 ,and the majority of the random prisoners are not morally good, only Jimbei, Ivankov, and Bon Clay. If Luffy was morally good he would've left Croco-boy in his cell and figured out how to escape without him. Luffy is a bad guy.

miho

Sometimes I forget that Rufy and his pirates are evil

Usher

@Andrew O if say, a 100 people get murdered by the criminals luffy helped free, would you blame the victim's families for calling Luffy a bad guy? Not that it's not understandable if he wants to save his brother no matter what, but still

Usher

Now this is speculation territory, but yeah I wouldn't be surprised even a little lol

Stew

At this point in the story Logia fruits are all S-tier so I understand what you mean, but Admirals would 1 tap Magellan.

Stew

We're watching the Impel Down arc, and that's where Magellan works; that's why.

Chase023

In general in this One Piece world Pirates are evil and bad because they kill and plunder and steal. Now there are a very few pirates like Luffy who is a pirate more for adventure, exploration, and freedom on the seas. Luffy does accept that pirates are bad and he is in a way looked as a bad guy even tho he does lots of good and help others.

Slinky Shade

Why does it have to be important? Its just a comment section bro

Karaka

Blackbeard is definitely strong but not as strong as you think at this current moment…he’s more strategic more than anything else I feel like you guys overestimate Blackbeard this early because he defeated Ace but you need to know that Ace is still young, he easily has the potential to be one of the strongest for sure but he’s not there yet. Age and experience matters a lot in one piece…it’s very different to the other shows in the big 3 in that sense Also regarding the scar Blackbeard gave Shanks…all that was said was that “Shanks didn’t let his guard down” not that “Blackbeard defeated Shanks” this is a hint at his strategic planning.

Phyllis

Michelle big braining~ Like you guys said yourself, Blackbeard is going down to the lower floors of Impel Down. What was previously mentioned that was down there at Impel Down? Sometimes recaps are good for you cause people don't remember every scene and do forget them. And Blackbeard seems undefeatable but they did mentioned that he can stop devil fruit powers and he cannot avoid any attacks if it hits him.

Usher

Nice way of putting it without really spoiling👌🏻

Dandy Zoran

Right I thought I said my thoughts on Hannybel. He does have a point, we know Luffy has good intentions in saving his brother, but in doing so he's releasing a bunch of prisoners into the world where it would be more chaotic. He too was doing his job.

Jay rellim

i think 34:10 might be one of my fave gear 2 transitions

Rocketboy

it's not that much different compared to other big 3 manga. Age and experience also matter in naruto and bleach (especially naruto you got many examples of that). And even outside of those mangas you always have example of "age and experience matters" in pretty much all fighting manga that has older people in it

laflame

to be honest Luffy entered a prison and is breaking out with 100+ criminals some even very notorious….so i think i stand with Vice Warden😂

Arz.09

maybe a mod could help but you guys should look at the characters in one piece that are based on real pirates or real pirate legends

The CulturedGentleman

I sometimes consider him to be the most AMBITIOUS person in the whole anime for this very reason. His drive to plot and scheme and carry out his plans is unreal. He's just as driven as Luffy is about becoming the King of the Pirates. That makes for a truly terrifying antagonist

Surya

these comments downplaying blackbeard is wild. Its been shown he repeatedly takes the first hit in every fight - BB vs Ace, against Luffy, and now against Magellan. Whether thats due to his arrogance or overconfidence in winning said fights is up to your interpretation, but he's clearly not a pushover based on what you've seen so far. Just the fact he's injured Shanks, implied fair and square and not in a sneak attack, puts him at the highest tier of basically every one piece character you've been introduced to. Everyone likes to hype up Shanks but forgets BB already fought him and survived, way back when he was still on whitebeards ship. BB has always been crazy strong, overpowered devil fruit or not

KoKo JoJo

The only “good person” luffy broke out was Jinbe fr. Everyone is about a bad as bad can be 😂, even Ivan out here giving people sex changes with their consent (i’m 90% sure Oda might have played this off as a joke but if I’m thinking logically it doesn’t sit well with me).

KoKo JoJo

Crocodile for just one example… 💀

KoKo JoJo

Megellan isn’t a logia but he also hasn’t shown his scaling with the current story, not saying he stands a chance against the admirals but he would definitely look even better if this took place after…

Usher

Luffy probably knew it too at that point but it doesn't change the fact he wants to save ace one bit

KoKo JoJo

Luffy is a bad guy here (in hindsight especially) just for simple aiding buggy’s escape…

KoKo JoJo

We don’t even know how he beat Ace and we also don’t know when Teach gave Shanks his scar (which is very important).

KoKo JoJo

Crocodile alone is enough for me lol. He didn’t even try to convince luffy that he changed his ways 💀

KoKo JoJo

If his “right” endangers the livelihood of many than its just a act of selfishness.

KoKo JoJo

Konohamaru did beat one of the Pains with nothing but “the will of fire”(which was completely bs). But that’s just me nitpicking.

KoKo JoJo

Aye man, you don’t gotta do all that D Q.

KoKo JoJo

⚠️SPOILER WARNING⚠️ Is it? All the fights I’ve seen Blackbeard involve has always had some slim in it.

Dandy Zoran

Intentions that are right for him, but you hit the nail on the head.

Mahti

I can see Magellan whooping Greenbull

TurtleHubby

I mean, he is a pirate at the end of the day lol most pirates are bad

Jibby

This is proof watching too many anime while on One Piece isn’t a good idea, this guy forgot everything regarding Blackbeard and his devil fruit ability, too the point where he believes BB is untouchable.

Dominic

Well then it was good to have the whole flashback of Ace vs Blackbeard in this very episode where they explained it again, as a reminder about the ability.

Uncancellable Reacts

Man rewatching these scenes and seeing where blackbeard was and where he at rn and what we know so far man its amazing times 🥲

Karaka

@Rocketboy - I don’t really think so…the best Ninja’s in Naruto are always in their late teens and early 20s, look at Itachi for example. And Bleach, Ichigo is literally 15 years old and is already one of the strongest characters in the first 2 major arcs

Mario Garcia

Naw dont want to spoil anything with the power scale but Magellan isn't even talked about like that when it comes to op characters.

Harsh Sharma

Talked about by who? The community?

CallMeBibz

Naur man they’ve gotten way more locked in after doing 6 a week. And with the frequent flashbacks the memories are gonna stack up again. They’re making good connections and asking good questions. They’re also enjoying my least favorite arc pretty well so I’m hype for future arcs.

Ivandro Moreira

Don't forget that Luffy and Ace killed a lot of people. Even Though the series softens a lot of it, it certain that they cause a lot of chaos and death. So Hannyabal is 100% right. They are in fact criminals and Prison is made just for the reason of keeping criminals out of society.

Harsh Sharma

They can watch it however they want, it is ok for them to forget. Let me know many more times I should repeat it.

Ivandro Moreira

Just one note. BB doesn't take more damage. He feels more, but the damage is the same. So he just need to endure the damage that it actually takes, more the extra "mental" that the fruit adds to it.

B00GIEMANN_

19:53 YALL AINT SEEN SHITTT YETTTT IM TELLING YOUU

.

Ron just being like "yea the ppl watching are probably just alone in their room watching this waiting to see what we are taking from this" basically is so real and I'm just so appreciative of the 6 ep a week now, ty guys love what you do!

Mikasa Ackerman

Hey RICE AND GINGER, please react to black butler on TV and patron its 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Edward Untario

well, "isn't a good idea" is kinda objective, Surely they would remember more stuff if they're only watching One Piece, but that's not what their channel is all about, and imo they did their best already and are doing really well despite reacting to many anime, so we should respect them for that. Just let them enjoy the show with their own pacing, if they forget thing they could always go back and rely on us on the community (coming from a fan that have rewatched the show at least 10x along with multiple reactors so I wouldn't judge since I spent 12years of my life watching only One Piece)

Mathias Jensen

Man, sometimes some lore stuff goes completely over their head. Like when awakened Zoan are mentioned they don't even react or comment on it.

seanbaun

On the surface BlackBeard may seem goofy and unserious at times but he is one of the most calculated characters in the show everything he does has thought and strategy behind it especially in a fight he’s literally playing chess

Ragged

Guys whether blackbeard is strong or whatnot, its up to you but don't forget that blackbeard will always take 2x the damage with whatever he gets hit with. Don't inflate his abilities but also don't underestimate him, he is one tanky somofa bitch.

dd

Love Yourself

Yeah they totally missed why Oda was putting him on spotlight. Would’ve been a good conversation

Aaron Menchaca Jr.

I hope this is ragebait because In the middle of the episode they said they don't hate Magellan cuz "he's just doing his job"
