Love these 3 OP uploads per week. One Piece episodes have different animation directors. The one for 448 was Naoki Tate. His style for the characters is indeed very distinctive. For instance he was in charge of episode 404, too. But yeah, they also gotta cut corners with recycling animation and padding with still frames for an ongoing long runner such as this. Production schedule is super tight.

You guys gotta stop talking about the animation when you don't really understand anything about it, 448 had a different style where the drawing details are toned down but it actually has better animation than the average episodes here! You guys did the same thing with that one enies lobby episode... You don't notice a different approach and name it 'bad animation' but then you name CGI with the Sunny 'good animation' like 😑 The pacing on the other hand...

Guys right now you can, in the future you can't compare One Piece anymore with any other show or manga. It's not that One Piece would be by far better or sth, it's that One Piece fulfills a whole nother Meta. There are Anime, manga, LiveAction Tvshows and there is One Piece. In this episode you noticed one of these big broadspreaded layers and it's just one of thousands of other layers other anime never really got. I talk abt the animation. You noticed and even critisized some designchoices this Episode. We're still in the beginning of that ''layer'' but you'll notice in the future, that Many Episodes come with a different lead-animator. The last present Episodes from like 1000 - 1200; the world-class animators of Anime all fight with each other to get the next episode. So every single episode you have high quality animation comparable to demon slayer, jujutsu kaisen etc just bc those world class animators want to beat each other in making the best episode. This is just one thing why One Piece accelerates in getting better and better because One Piece only tries to beat One Piece. It doesn't need to beat Attack on titan or Naruto bc it's incomparable and the whole industry behind it is another league of it's own. Right now most episodes are animated in the same way, but with time more and more gems will come until every single episode gets a masterpiece. Can't wait for that <3

448 had way better animation than usual, just a different art style. Animation is the amount of frames which result in a smoother image. Art style is just the way it's drawn, which can be subject to opinion.

I mean, Magellan can’t just become a Warlord lol… Warlords are former pirates, and Magellan has never been one. Plus, he doesn’t even need to. He already held a pretty important position, and he’s probably stronger than most of the Warlords anyway. Just look at Crocodile and Jinbei they were Warlords, but neither of them wanted any smoke with Magellan

I understand why you may think the animation looked weird but to put it simple thinner lines equals fluidity and more expressiveness. I never cared or noticed good animation until I watched one piece. it's lowkey one of the best shows to watch to see how animation has grown in the years.

Yea, the drawing might be less detailed, but this episode was animated over 15 years ago, and don’t forget, One Piece airs every single week. Meanwhile, most modern anime take years just to release a single 12-episode season. But if you keep watching, you’ll see the animation steadily improve year after year. By the late 2010s and beyond, it actually becomes insanely good, on par with a lot of modern anime. For a weekly Anime, it’s more than impressive

i think its valid except demon slayer. naruto is overhated and most people focus on small inconsistencies over the main point and message of the plot, and one piece is one piece simply a crazy fire journey.

Being a weekly show, One Piece is often outsourced to other animation studios in order to get more episodes done on time. That's why the first episode looks different. I could be wrong, but if I had to guess I'd say it was done by the same people who animated episode 420 (The one showing where Robin and Usopp ended up). They have a looser, less detailed style but imo the actual animation (movement) is a more snappy and lively than usual.

I hate to say it, but considering the first half of the first episode consisted entirely of a staircase getting cut down, a single death wink, and the slowest walk to ever appear in a chase scene, we might be getting close to One Pace territory…

The first episode was def a low priority episode, even with long anime or even a seasonal anime, they have low and high priority episode. And uh that first one was def low priority after having some really peak episode. Ivan vs Magellan episode got the short end of the stick.

My top anime would be prob Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Blue Lock, Attack on Titan, Death Note, Demon Slayer. HxH and One Piece both def top 2, clear margin. The rest are in the same tier with maybe 2 or 3 more animes

Another more literal translation for Jinbei's nickname is Knight of the sea, so I think by saying "first son" its a more poetic way of saying he's an honorable/diplomatic ambassador of the fishmen people. You learn more about this in future arcs but before being jailed Jinbei was a bit of a political figure representing fish man interests within the world government as shichubukai. Jinbei hates the world government but was willing to work with them to have influence he could use to help fishpeople

usually when its drawn like this it means the episode will have a lot of action. Naruto did the same thing, they focus less on details and more on the fight choreography i believe.

Well, I mean for an anime(this arc of OP) that aired 15 years ago that releases episodes every single week continuously nonstop and no breaks, the animation studio is doing a far better job then some current poor animation rushed jobs like Blue Lock S2 and JJK S2.👀 (Of course, I pity the Mappa animation team for the short amount of time given and I know they did their best.)

Look Boruto bro.... Can't belive some of the lowest quality Episodes in Impel-Down Arc (thats just a go-through arc not like Marine Ford) have better Animation that frkn Boruto that's one of the OG's of all time. Plus they have more than enough money and feedback to know better. One piece has shitty stuff back then too but at least it accelerates and always synchronized at some point with modern animation-techniques.

You’re for sure gonna be with One Piece for another 5–10+ years (or even more 😂). There’s a remake coming from another studio in a couple of years, and you already know it’s gonna be NEXT-LEVEL with modern anime and pacing will be fixed. The current anime isn’t even finished yet and you’re still far from catching up! That remake is guaranteed to be legendary. Everything One Piece touches turns literally into a hit: Manga, anime, live action, movies, TCG, sports collabs, merch you name it.

There are a lot of great anime out there, but I never have a problem calling One Piece my favorite. Yeah, there are others with better pacing, better animation, and all that. I enjoy all those too. But there's something about One Piece that keeps it at the top for me. I think a big part of it is that it's run so long, so we've been with these characters for a lot of time. It really does feel like an adventure. At this point, I've been watching it for more than half of my life, and being a weekly anime, it's one of the things that has been a constant all this time for me.

You will slowly see when Toei slacks off on some episodes, usually they let a B-Team do couple of scenes so the A-Team can rest up. You will find couple of episodes with bad animation/pacing/padding but during important scenes they deliver.
