Most people approve your decision to watch these episodes. This is friggin screen time and development for the main cast after all. Only thing you really could've done was to make the end of Impel Down a triple drop with 452. The episodes would've flowed better.

Ron have you never seen a protractor? Its primarily used to measure angles. In middle school we had to get one and use one for half a year when we had to learn about the different triangle shapes/angles like isosceles triangles and right triangles.... it was so damn annoying

456 is the last episode of anime canon. It's considered anime canon because the anime expands on the few panels( cover pages featuring the Strawhats, their whereabouts and their current situation) Oda drew as part of the Coverstory, which is canon. 457 and 458 are recap filler. You don't want to watch the latter two 😂

Just for clarification…what all the other straw hats are doing is all canon even in the manga. Like the islands they’re on, the characters they’re with etc…. It’s just that in the manga it’s all shown in cover pages instead of the actual story

Just wanted to let you know that from this point onward, after episode 456, the One Piece movies start becoming more canon-adjacent. Right after episode 456, you should definitely watch Episode 0 followed by the movie Strong World. They’re meant to be watched together and ideally right before starting the Marineford arc. They add some really interesting context to characters you’ve already heard mentioned and might see more of later. If you’re into the lore, it’s 100% worth watching.

Honestly should of done three episodes to fit well together. It does kinda bother me that it feels like you’re diminishing these episodes because they don’t feel canon. Which I can understand because these felt not connected to the story but that is the point of them they feel so disconnected because of where the Starw Hats and what they’re experiencing since they currently have no knowledge on the outside. Another thing that is important are these stories are from manga covers. Where Oda does a short story, you can say, with only one illustration that describes the step by step adventure. It would be best be described as a story board, and the title of the illustration is him explaining what’s happening in the scene with one sentence. Oda does this a lot such as the Koby episodes or even when the world’s reaction, Vivi or other people from their journey, witness their bounties. The anime i do believe take creative liberties and add more to scenes but they have technically a set story board. But this from my but of knowledge about it, if anyone else can add more or I’m missing something, hopefully can tell me I’m correct or close enough.

These episodes are definitely manga canon. This part of the Straw Hats’ story unfolds across the cover pages of various manga chapters during the Marineford arc, each one just a single-page scene. Don’t listen to anyone claiming these are filler episodes. Toei Animation simply had more room to expand the story and added their own creative touches, like some extra fan service for Robin fans, lol.

Yeah these are manga canon, but they were cover stories so not as fleshed out as an entire chapter would be, that's why it's a half an episode each, it was basically one panel stories

Bro I hate the Zoro doesn’t kill anyone argument your telling me ALL the people he cuts he misses arteries. They just pass out from pain right? Nope I’m like dead, dead, maybe dead. Even Luffy when I see a marine flying to another dimension that’s a f body. The strawhats are not hero’s quoted by Luffy and Zoro themselves. They catch bodies. Let’s not forget HE almost died from one clean strike from Mihawk he does that to other people on a regular basis the only reason he survived is because it’s Zoro he’s not just a normal guy where these goons or marines most are regular dudes that WILL NOT possibly be able to survive a clean cut across the chest, torso, and abdomen. I see Zoro cutting fatal arteries all the time I know from studying anatomy. By your logic robin gave them the nicest neck cracks of all time and they passed out from pleasure. There’s a reason ODA never has stated that When we see Zoro in battle the people are not killed dont forget he is Pirate Hunter Zoro. Its HEAVILY implied he kills on screen ALOT.

All of this is Canon and Oda definitely had a big big part in writing all of these stories. These are the actual places the straw hats went to in the Manga. It's just that the anime elaborated more on the stories, which is sick, because I'm sure Oda wanted to focus on the main story at the time, but it is fantastic that we got to see what happened to the rest of the straw hats

To me it's seems that Ivan-sama's hormone effect and the influence the Kamabakka Kingdom/stand-in Queen had on Sanji is more forceful in nature and not really them discovering their "true self". I mean, it's Sanji, of all people :P
