The reason Jimbei is not just continuously soaking devil fruit users is because you have to be almost totally submerged in standing water for it to affect their powers. Here is an excerpt from Oda’s SBS included in Volume 41 (so revealed during the Enies Lobby Arc), answering a question about how Crocodile takes a bath: “When one eats a devil fruit, the sea rejects them and their bodies become unable to swim. The ‘sea’ here includes rivers, pools, baths…everything that holds a pool of water. Seen in terms of the earth, everything is a ‘sea’. So when one with powers enters such a place, naturally their powers don’t work as well as expected. That’s if their entire bodies are submerged in the ‘sea’. If it’s just half their bodies, their arms and legs, then the effect is lessened. Water that washes off like rain has no effect at all. So usually they’ll submerge halfway or take showers. …And finally to the question of whether I take baths. I bathe twice. Annually.”

Here we just witnessed one of the most iconic moments in all of marineford (that frame of him in front of the admirals). The story is so good and the upcoming episodes cannot come soon enough man. Fun fact Admirals names: Akainu - Aka = red, Inu = Dog Aokiji - Ao = Blue, Kiji = (type of bird Dunno what it is haha) Kizaru - Ki = Yellow, Zaru/Saru = Monkey they have their respective colors too and their personality might be based on the respective animals too haha

Never forget, Whitebeard is in extremely bad shape. He could've oneshot whole marineford in his prime with ease. Now hes still extremely strong as you saw and still has the potential to oneshot still but without his medicinal help that he refused to wear this guy is a dying man.

Also, him holding the log and being the first to make it that far is symbolic to him leading and showing the others the way just like the log poses do. Oda is the GOAT at hiding the details in plain sight

a lot of the show doesn't really get into the details of battle or combat, a lot of it is hype and cool moments and more specifically symbolic moments like Luffy against the admirals and Aokiji remark saying "You're not ready for this stage yet".

Even Luffy would’ve died without the help of Jinbei, Ivankov, Boa, and the commanders in this war. There’s no way anyone in his crew could’ve handled Smoker, Kuma, or Mihawk

The Animation sometimes Look different thru the episode because Theres maaaany different animators working on each episode and most of the episode is done by like the B Tier animators and when theres big moments they bring in the S Tier goats. Thats why it Changes offen from mediocre to really good for a scene

oda is on record stating he makes this shit up as he goes. he had the ending planned, thats it. everything else thats "foreshadowing" like these minute details are just callbacks that he referenced in later scenes after coming up with the idea

He plans ahead. I know what I’m talking about. So yes, he doesn’t plan every minute detail all the way, but he knows where he wants to go with the story. Then he makes up the small details after. That’s why each island seems like a story within the main story, and we are introduced to different characters etc

The pacing and distance and depicting in this episodes annoys me every time I see it. Either you are at the wall or you aren’t. Also raining meteors from the sky and boiling water. Should the whole bay, but they are standing on ice for minutes. I don’t tell me it’s just for the drama because there is no drama if you just make a war unrealistic.

I'm part of the people who are convinced he actually doesn't plane every single detail ahead but this one is really great (and considering what it's about, it's obvious it was planned ahead)! Oda rose up in my forshadowing author leaderboard (issayama still the undisputable goat to me)

To me this is the best OP arc but yes it has a fair amount of incoherences espcially regarding character's powers compared to what they actually do in that arc. Just 2 of them fighting (not mentioning who to avoid spoils) should wreck the whole marineford like it did in the past with Shiki (even if it was only half at that time)

I get it, but they do upload a good amount of episodes a week, including other anime. I went through One Piece cliff hangers for years watching it since Alabasta. Good things about shows where people are far behind is, you don't always get stuck with the bad cliff hangers.
