What Marco said isn't far off and from what I know isn't explained yet, but remember what luffy n zoro said to Nami during mocktown after BB's dream speech? They said, its not a "he" but them. Some people suggest that they meant him n his crew but the context doesn't fit the mold to their statement on BB. Also it might be tied to his DF as well. Look at his jolly roger, its 3 skulls. Can he have 3 df? Some say he had it for a while. Does he carry a second soul? Mystery to be solved.

He didn't take Ace's fruit because he needed Ace alive so that the World Gov't would publicly execute him. Knowing Whitebeard would attack the World gov't to stop the execution, he used the chaos and the fact that the majority of the Navy's best fighters would be at Ace's execution, so that he could infiltrate Impel down and build his crew from the prisoners he freed. Remember Devil fruits are very very rare and Logia even more rare so its not like Blackbeard had many great options of powerful Devil fruits to eat.

It was not part of his plan because he initially want to go after Luffy. Ace was just his backup plan to join the warlords. If everything went according to plan and went for Luffy, there won't be a war to begin with. Ace and Whitebeard won't be dead and he wouldn't have a chance to get Whitebeard's fruit. Luffy would probably try to breakout from jail and possibly meet Ivankov and then plan an escape together and that's it. (:

So Blackbeard mentioned it once that the Dark-Dark fruit is actually a logia - we don't know for sure but it's possible that he couldn't absorb a second logia fruit - what he said was that it's a logia but as a side effect for how powerful it is he remains tangible and takes more damage than most

The best thing about One Piece in my opinion is that it could go 10 episodes without any of the Straw Hats being shown and it could be more hype at times. Sometimes I look forward to seeing the side characters more than the main characters. The world building in this show is unmatched.

Like Mihawk said, Luffy has the power to turn everyone around him into an ally. we've seen this with Bon Clay, Nico Robin, Crocodile, Iva (even before he knew he was dragon's son), Aokiji will still fight him but if you remember back in water seven Aokiji showed respect for Luffy and didn't go after his crew after he froze him, even whitebeard became fond of him pretty fast along with all the commanders

Remember that BB's logia is different where he doesn't have intangibility like the other ones so adding a second logia wouldnt guarantee him that ability. Also as you could see the top tiers could touch Akainu and hes a logia.

During this time in the story ( and technically to this day) it is believed that no one could have 2 devils fruit abilities because inside each devil fruit is a Devil. and its believed if another fruit is taken into the body, the body cannot handle it and explodes "allegedly" and no one has been brave enough to attempt to eat a second fruit. this was talked about in the early episodes. SO Teach showing that he's wielding two fruits is turning everyones view on devil fruits in a one eighty because he's doin what you should not be able to do by nature in front of their eyes

This is one of the many reasons why One Piece is so freakin good and so worth the time investment. A lot of unfortunate people are still hesitant or refusing to pick it up due to the sheer scary number of episodes (not that we can really blame them..) but then they're willing to watch 5+ different other animes that together add up to same/more episodes or even rewatch animes a few times (which again adds up to close to that number of episodes anyway). It's just as Michelle put it, One Piece is constantly going up in its trajectory. It's an investment that grows with compound interest (for people who invests). I keep up with the manga and of course am far ahead in the story but I've never once regretted my decision to pick up One Piece. I along with the other fans are still eating so good from Oda's genius and seemingly limitless bag. Where we currently are in the manga (no spoilers) is actually contending to be the best flashback ever. Like think about that for a hot second. With a series this long, you wouldn't think the author/writer could keep topping themself but Oda does and we are absolutely here for it. He is still connecting so many threads that he had set up way earlier in the story it's mindboggling. We want to know what the One Piece is, if/how our captain becomes the Pirate King that surpasses Gol D Roger, if/how the rest of our beloved crew achieves their dreams, if/how Zoro beats Mihawk claiming his title of world's greatest swordsman, if/how Nami draws out the map of the world, if/how Usopp becomes a brave warrior of the sea, Sanji finding the All Blue, Chopper being able to cure any disease, Robin learning the history of the world, Franky building a ship able to sail around the world to the very end, Brook reuniting with Laboon, all these things ... but at the same time we also really don't ever want One Piece to end.. Can't imagine what a void it will leave in people once it does. All we can do is not think about it and just enjoy every moment of the grand journey. I am very glad to be able to enjoy it with you both, along with everyone else here! The One Piece is real and when it is found, it will surely turn the world upside down.

Couple things the darkness darkness fruit is a logia fruit however the drawback is physical attacks do work on Blackbeard and he takes significant more damage that’s the drawback for it instead of being invulnerable he can take in devil fruit powers and nullify them. So having the tremor tremor as a catalyst back up is insane.

Luffy needs to get credit also for having the fucking judgement of the heavens to make up his mind that fast to take both Jimbei and Crocodile with him from their cells. Even when everyone was against Crocodile too. If he hadnt done that, this would have been FAR worse without those two here. ALso, remember Law isb the only one who got up when the New gen pirates were watching the screens. Plus Kidd or anyone else has no business going to Marineford. They are not friends with Luffy or anyone there. They are each competing to be the best so they all have their own motives and agendas. hey are literally only there to see the outcome of this war because its gonna determine how the world changes based on the outcome.

I looked at his design and everything about him. Fun fact - he's also VERY lore accurate because the english Pirate Blackbeard who actually existed was a name FEARED across the seas. Edward Teach (or Thatch) was his real name, and just like this version, he was a tactician who used fear and intimidation a lot to make him seem like a devil to scare his enemies. HE is the most notorious pirate in history. WHitebeard wasn't a real pirate tho, but inspired by a japanese folklore warrior who died standing up after being rained with arrows. Oda seems to read pretty widely and in great variety

Here is my own personal theory on why Blackbeard can have two devil fruits. It is stated that you cannot eat two devil fruits (because the devils inside would start fighting each other or something like that) but technically blackbeard didn't EAT two. He ABSORBED the second one so what if the rules change based on whether or not it is absorbed vs eaten? What if the "Devil" in the fruit stayed inside Whitebeard's body while Blackbeard sucked out just the ability itself? The Dark dark fruit would be the only way that it could be possible right so no one would technically know but a previous owner who tried. What if that was where blackbeard got the info from why he hunted for that specific fruit in the first place? Like some hidden or lost journal of that person with info on that fruit? I like this theory even if its inaccurate

If the mods end up showing them the manga panels of Whitebeard’s death, please make sure to include the double-page where all his injuries are listed while he’s still standing, dead. I find those even more shocking than the panel where Akainu hits him. "Even in death, even with half his face gone, he would never fall." What a character.

Your exp is your exp. The pacing is bad at times sure...but they have stated that they dont mind and will watch the entire thing. So if they dont mind the pacing, who are u to say they wont love it? As far as entertainment value, ill never get why people dump on shows that isn't super deep. Like cmon...everything isn't gonna be super deep with this big plot twist. Doesn't mean an anime isn't good. Its okay to like or dislike something, just as its okay for others to do the same as well.

And speaking of that, it’s crazy how many one piece theory videos are out there on YouTube. Fun fact - Oda (2007): The owner of a bar I used to visit several times with my editor passed away. He was a charming man, and he became the model for Whitebeard. The line Whitebeard says when he first appears: “I ain’t talkin’ to no snot-nosed brat, you damn fool” is exactly what the old man once said to a customer. He would sit in the middle of the bar with medical equipment connected to his nose, claiming alcohol was his medicine, and told us stories about WWII. When I told him I had drawn him into my manga, he was delighted. I rarely create characters based on such a clear real-life model. I pray for his soul, and I vow to keep drawing cool old men from now on.

I wouldn't put too much into the word "pirate" in this universe. In my opinion pirate seems to be anyone rebelling or choosing to do their own thing with disregard to the Marines and the World Government. It doesn't necessarily have to mean they are bad. For example, Luffy's crew doesn't act like pirates at well, they are more so adventures and dreamers who stumble upon circumstances where they have to defend themselves. While we've seen countless marines and or World Govt officials being shady and corrupt. It's not as simple to say pirates = bad , marine/govt = good. It all depends on the individual.

ace's fruit isnt as good as whitebeards fruit whitebeards makes the most sense the only logias worth getting instead potentially is the admirals and killing them is extremely hard. The first time we see Blackbeard's jolly roger is in Jaya, it's basically a three headed skull. I think this suggests he has 3 devil fruits besides just dark dark and earthquake, and the third one allows him to survive having multiple devil fruit powers. If I had to guess the third one might be some kind of mythical zoan, because the dark dark fruit is arguably the strongest logia, the earthquake fruit is arguably the strongest paramecia, so logically he could have one of, if not the strongest zoan fruit as well. There is also Shank's scar, which looks like it was done by claws

That wasn't just a title, he's actually a doctor. 😏 And regarding Blackbeard's body structure and all that, don't think too much about that for now, we're still learning about his backstory even in the manga. One thing I will say, up until THIS moment, what we knew so far was that you have to be DEAD in order for your power to be reborn again. Usually it goes like this -> You die. -> The devil fruit is reborn somewhere in the world and it's free for anyone to take again. But obviously Blackbeard is a different case.
