Being good at using haki circumvents the need for a devil fruit. Keep in mind Rayleigh was going head to head with kizaru with no devil fruit power. Garp has no fruit and he is regarded as the hero of the navy. Mihawk is the strongest swordsmen in the world(w/ no devil fruit).

This arc is insanely well-written and culminates in some of the greatest payoffs that have been setup in earlier arcs. If I remember correctly, this arc helped the manga/anime skyrocket in popularity which put One Piece on the map for a lot of more casual enjoyers.

Navy listened to Shanks because he is technically at the same level of power as Whitebeard and they did not want to fight a fresh Yonko right after Whitebeard.

Marineford has found itself in a ton of ppl's "top 5 arcs" and its personally one of my top arcs for sure, not sure the exact order atm between my other favorites but its 100% on it. That means off the jump he's a peer of whitebeard who was handling the admirals pretty well and they gave you further context that he just fought another of the emperors yesterday and made it to marineford with no injuries

She has even reportedly threatened to divorce Oda if Law were to die. (Edit: Need to clarify that there is no official article but fans speculations based on the story up till so far.) 😂 And they did introduce Law as the 'Surgeon of death' in earlier episodes. As for Sengoku, he wasn’t about to start another fight especially not with Shanks, one of the Four Emperors, right after the brutal war with Whitebeard. The Navy had already suffered heavy losses and he agreed to a truce. Just to clarify: if someone eats a Devil Fruit, they completely lose the ability to swim or float in the sea. And about Koby, he was hearing voices no one else could. Even Helmeppo, who was right next to him, said he didn’t hear anything. (Think back, have you seen a moment like this in any of the earlier arcs?) Also you don't need a Devil Fruit to be strong. Example Mihawk, Shanks, Garp, Rayleigh etc.

Sorry, but how is that a spoiler ? Is that not just common sense ? In the very first few episodes we literally see Shanks swim to save Luffy. If he were a devil fruit user he'd drown and die. Garp uses haki to damage logia users and even uses it on Luffy to hurt him. It's pretty obvious to the viewer that he's just strong and literally a war veteran. The 3 admirals are relative to each other to be fair in the manga when Kuzan appeared for the first time we saw the 5 elders call him THE strongest marine but marineford makes Akainu look stronger and then again Sabaody arc makes Kizaru look way scarier. If your slow and strong your bad match up is Kizaru someone who moves at the speed of light if not faster, if your durability/endurance isn’t that great than Akainu is your worst nightmare since he’s offensive capabilities are the most terrifying things in the show. Kuzan is more of a (combatant) so if your not skilled enough or drop your guard for once he will catch you lacking with that broken df and THE MOMENT you get frozen it’s GG

I kinda feel like it's so underrated how Koby got literally everyone on that battlefield to completely freeze in their tracks and listen to him. It's really crazy when you think about it. This is by far the largest gathering of the most notorious and powerful names on the seas. You'd expect a majority of them to simply ignore Koby and carry on their business even if they could clearly hear him. But for those few seconds not a single person there moved an inch. As he is now Koby really has no business commanding the attention of THAT many big names all at once. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I think that scene implies A LOT about Koby and his unrealized potential.

I think that's why it's so great! The side battles were all blade clashes or gun shots, instead of dedicated episodes for the crew's fights. Plus the final boss(es) were spread throughout in the warlord and Admirals, but even those were short clashes that added up over time.

Shanks appearance is mad hype and it brought so much nostalgia. Nobody wanted smoke with him, he sonned everybody lmao. Easily top 5 favorite characters. Imagine if Luffy seen Shanks. How can someone barely be in the story yet loved so much. We barely see him yet still one one the best characters, such a cool mystery about him. This isn't that long of an arc, it's about 30 episodes but so much happened in it to where it felt long which is the great thing about it. Truly one of the best arcs in anime and it ended well So I seen somewhere that Oda said that this arc was basically a "side trip" and he was surprised by the popularity and amount love it got. That's a testament right there to Oda's story writing skills. Now imagine the future arcs. Only gets better So Dragon never came lmao. Just for accuracy because I know Michelle is very adamant about correct names. "Akainu" is just his nickname. "Sakazuki" is his actual name. Same with Aokiji. His actual name is Kuzan. This info is not a spoiler because it's been revealed before, but most characters use nicknames of other characters most times unless they're of the same crew or navy group. Most notable is how everyone calls Luffy "Straw Hat" and only his friends/crew call him Luffy. So easy to mistake actual names with nicknames when even the characters do it.

Aokiji is Ice and cold but kinda has a warm heart (remember when he spoke to robin behind the wall). Kizaru is fast, he is made of light but acts very slow and bored. I think thats just cool to know

Characters in one piece don't need a devil fruit to be strong. You've already seen some characters who don't have a devil fruit and are damn strong. Mihawk, Shanks, Garp, Zoro, Sanji... You've already seen that none of them have a devil fruit and they're really strong. That's why I'm surprised that it sounds like you equate having a devil fruit with being strong. Besides, you've already learned that a devil fruit isn't inherently strong, but rather that the person using it makes it strong. So, a character with a devil fruit can also be weak if they simply don't know how to use it properly. And I actually think that you actually can save yourself the trouble of speculating whether a character has a devil fruit or not. In one piece, every character with devil fruit powers uses them directly in battle. So if someone has a devil fruit, you will see it almost immediately

No, it's not a spoiler. As I said in my comment, if they had devil fruit powers, they would have used them in battle long ago. Please name me a One Piece character with devil fruit powers who didn't immediately use their powers in a fight after being introduced, where one would have had to speculate whether they ate a devil fruit or not. And we've known since episode 1 that Shanks doesn't have a devil fruit. He was swimming in the water when he saved Luffy, and as we know, devil fruit users can't swim.

Marine Ford was voted since decades for the best Arc in all of anime. There are some honorable mentions for the Top3 that some years even overthrew Marine Ford. On each and every list you find Marine Ford in the nr1. Return to Shiganshina in Attack on Titan mostly places as second place and the Chimera Ant Arc of HunterxHunter rivals with aot for the 2nd place. Pain's assault(Naruto Shippuden) and Golden Age (Berserk) often play a big role in these lists too. But Marine Ford can be declared as the best Anime/Manga Arc in Anime/Manga history. Even though... my favorite Arc is yet to come in One Piece <3.

The admirals are a unique case. Aokiji, Akainu and Kizaru are titles given specifically to the Admirals. Sengoku is his real name because fleet Admiral goes by their actual name and we never knew Sengoku before he was fleet admiral. For everyone else, it just depends on how they know the name or they just go by how they remember their looks. Trivia: Sir Crocodile is his full name so in Japanese, Sir is his surname.

Because yeah, even for me, it wasnt REALLY until (back in Sabaody) I saw Rayleigh pull up and go toe-to-toe with admiral Kizaru with just a SWORD that I understood that there MUST be something else at play. The fact that Kizaru (a logia-type devil fruit eater that can move at the speed of light and is invulnerable to physical damage) was forced to go on the defensive like that really cemented the fact that devil fruit powers might not be s*** against certain opponents 😂
