BLEACHH

Brandocommando

🎶 I can tell that you’ve never been true to me 🎶

Brandocommando

For those that were wondering and don’t know the ost is called treachery by shiro sagisu and the other one is called invasion

F12Berlinetta

You just got introduced to one of the greatest OST's

Tay

Yokoso

Pandrix

Treachery is HERE!!!

Brandocommando

Kendo is the traditional Japanese sword fighting martial art

Luker

Nnoitora is a pos but kubo nailed it with his death and flashback

Akimitzu

Kenpachi will make Mihawk look like a child LOL. You guys still havent seen anything yet...I truly cant wait for you guys to reach TYBW. Anyway, now that we got passed these milked couple eps things are back to being PEAAAAAK

Volt

Nnoitora isn't a sore loser, he's just a walking inferiority complex with a dream

Ryan Alspach

Most Captains power up using Bankai. Kenpachi powers up by using 2 hands. lol

Antwoin White

Kenpachi wipes mihawk I’m ngl the power scaling is too much in difference wait until later episodes

Brandon Solerr

kenpachi doesnt have a shikai or a bankai remember. how his sword is now is its max power.

Dannilo

You guys focused too much on the misogyny aspect and perhaps missed details about Noitra. I think he's a well-written character. This attempt to fill the void with violence and destruction is quite interesting in the way he's handled. His opponents feel sorry for him because they sense this emptiness and restlessness. Because of it the OST is so sad, there is humanity in the character and sounds so poetic, Kubo tite is a great writter XD

Kevin Tapia

100% these are spiritual beings after all. Mihawk would need some sort of power to even hit a spiritual being like Kenpachi. Bleach power scaling over powers Naruto and One Piece. The OG power fantasy anime. None like it to this day just enjoy the action 🔥🔥🔥

kidBuku

I think he's supposed to be based off of an Ant in his espada form. Im not sure tho.

aldebaran

Its about to get HYPE!

Aneesh Paul

Kenpachi vs Mihawk will be totally one sided and we know whose side it will be.

Hector Tavares

Good evening! Does anyone know if the name “Kenny” is something made up by the English subtitles? Because the name actually said is “Ken-chan” (a diminutive, more intimate or affectionate form of Kenpachi), not “Kenny.” Honestly, I think it sounds a bit odd, but people who grew up with those subtitles are probably used to it—it just doesn’t sound quite right to me, I guess, hehe.

B

Even though Nnoitra (Espada 5) is cruel, he was driven by insecurity and a desperate need to be acknowledged as the strongest. Nel was trying to save him from his own hatred, insecurity, and obsession with strength. But Nnoitra fail to realize that ....and in the end, it cost him his life.

lordjaggi

Peak story time, I hope y'all realize by now ichigo only beat kenpachi via plot armor.

Shady Mozy

Anyone who thinks Mihawk can take Kenpachi needs to see a doctor asap.. You'd have a better chance sending in every One Piece character at the same time ...and even then...

Shady Mozy

He beat Kenpachi because Kempachi was restricted & because Ichigo gave complete control of his body to Zangetsu in that moment. Which should have resulted in an attack greater than any that he hit Byakuya with. No plot armor here. Just plot & those who didn't take the time to understand it.

Shady Mozy

I always thought Multi armed Praying Mantis. Especially if you look at the shape of his arms and blades together.

Ken Lang

Nah I think Ron and Michelle kinda missed the sentiment at the ending with his flashback. Nel was trying to save Nnoitra from himself. She pitied him. He was always looked down on and who knows if that’s the way he was in the world of the living being bullied for being skinny and weak. He had the typical bully mindset of “I’m gonna hurt them before they hurt me and screw everybody”. So I do feel sorry for him for the jerk that he is.

Quantum Brush

Completely desagree with you perspective about Noitora. Imo he's an insanely well written character. I think you missed something here wich is unfortunate.

Dimitron

It's not plot armour, every thing is explained so it isn't an asspull win.

Harsh Sharma

Big time, they missed the point completely! In general I feel they have not been tuned in on Bleach's reaction. I feel they should drop it for now and pick it back up when they are more interested. They are really missing out on such good storytelling it is a little sad to see.

Ken Lang

Ok I thought I was the only one who felt that way. Watching AliAnimus and Flexiejay reaction to this same episode is like night and day. I wonder if Ron and Michelle are already burnt out.

Harsh Sharma

Yeah, I mean how was the fight even dragged on? Byakuya got portions of 2 episodes partially and 1 full episode, same with Mayuri, and these were the only episodes when Kenpachi and Nnoitra started fighting. They were for some reason were so caught up in the fight being dragged on, that they missed such good elements of story telling.

Pandrix

This is what happens to every reactor besides a few, Bleach is VERY nuanced and subtly written I don’t blame them for missing stuff but that’s where all the misconceptions come in about Bleach sadly.

Harsh Sharma

Hi Ron and Michelle! As someone who has been with you since the very beginning, this is me being very sincere and honest. I think you should drop Bleach for now. I feel you both are not tuned in, for whatever reason, be it lack of continuity since it is only twice a week, or too many shows. I am just guessing. But you are missing really good storytelling and it is a little sad to see. I would not recommend you watching it for the sake of watching it, because it will be not do justice to anyone. These fights are not fights to "get done with", like the new gen animes. The focus is not on whose animation is top tier with these. These older animes have so many underlying messages and subtleties, like Nnoitra's insecurities and trauma and how it shaped him as a person, and so much more! It even explains his 'projection' on calling others weak and mistreating others. I love all your reactions! I love you are enjoying One piece for now, maybe continue watching it and pick up Bleach after?

271katbest

Damn. Sucks that y’all didn’t give this fight any love. It’s not the best looking fight but I love the dynamic between Kenpachi and Espada 5. Seems like Yall just want to speed run into the Aizen fight.

Dimitron

I understand what you mean but to drop Bleach is an exaggeration

Dimitron

Bleach is an anime which is written very subtly. Bleach drops subtle writing through poems,monologs/dialogues and fights which are important to understand some of the characters and I don't blame you for missing some because a lot of people including myself didn't pick up on a lot of things in the first watch. Because the writing is subtle a lot of people come up with the assumption that the writing isn't that good when in reality it's the exact opposite, a lot of characters are really complex and have a lot of depth. Just saying that these type of fights are actually more important that you think they are some times. But at the same time it's okay if you miss some stuff, there is much more to come in this journey.

Harsh Sharma

Just one of many suggestions, there could be better ones. I have seen them really deeply enjoy other shows and get everything, but they seem disconnected when they watch Bleach since the last few weeks, and they want things to get done with. Happy to hear if you have a counter opinion though! (Obviously I want them to keep watching it because I love all of the Big 3 haha)

Jay Mack

Nnoitra while he was shitty. Ppl overlook how good he is written especially in that final moment. Despite his deep-seated hatred for Nel, she was the person most anchored to his life story. In his last moments, surrounded by strangers like Kenpachi, his eyes instinctively sought out Nel, who was a witness to both his obsession and his demise. His look was an unspoken and final acknowledgment of their long, tragic history together.

Pandrix

So here’s some tidbits, the OG anime did Bleach dirty but leaving out the Poems. Please read this sorry it’s kinda long. Like I said before Bleach is a very subtly and nuanced series. Most reactors don't understand Bleach below the surface stuff on screen. Which is why there are tons of analysis and threads on the subtle details. Here are some tidbits for Nnoitra btw i don't care if you hate him or not just some tidbits for y'all Neliel's poem: “If you were to give me wings I would fly for you even if this entire land were to sink underwater, If you were to give me a sword I would stand up and fight for you even if this entire sky were to pierce you with its light.” This poem alludes to Neliel wishing to repay Ichigo by protecting him like he protected her when she was a vulnerable child. Nnoitra's poem:- “We are insects, Parasitic worms writhing in malicious constancy, Soaring past the moon you look up to Until you pathetic creatures are no longer visible.” "There is no salvation for our kind" Kubo uses a lot of symbolism and religion within the writing. The most obvious link is the crescent moon. It's the most consistent symbol in the entirety of the Hueco Mundo arc. Representative of enlightenment in Buddhism, its presence in Hueco Mundo specifically has a ton of implications for the arc. Hueco Mundo is based on one of the six realms of samsara, the preta realm which is inhabited by pretas or "hungry ghosts." A perfect match to hollows, who consume human souls to try to quell their eternal hunger and emptiness. The significance of the moon, a symbol of enlightenment, being present in such a realm is actually reflected in Aizen playing the role of God to the Arrancar. He uses the Hogyoku to forcefully evolve hollows into Arrancar, which is an allegory of forced enlightenment. But it's obvious that this enlightenment is a farce, and nobody embodies this idea better than Nnoitra. His character explicitly incorporates a ton of moon symbolism, in his weapon or his headgear. Nnoitra also has other symbolic links indicating his "divine" or "sacred" nature. The release command of his Resurrectión is "Pray," and its name is "Santa Teresa" which translates to sacred screaming praying mantis. The word "santa" also means saint in Spanish, which further strengthens Nnoitra's ties to the divine. The praying mantis is an insect that symbolises the presence of God in some cultures, and stillness in others. Nnoitra is the prime example of the nature of hollows. Hollows are a pitiful existence. They live in a dark realm, constantly seeking consumption to sate their hunger. They are former human beings who have lost their core/conscience, and cannot be classified as humans anymore. They are, by nature, a violent species. They know nothing of human emotions like love, empathy, mercy. Nnoitra perfectly embodies the nature of hollows. Therein lies the irony of the divine symbolism he has. Despite all the symbolism alluding to his spiritual enlightenment, he embodies the nature of beings that have given into their basest instincts. This contradiction ends up characterizing people like Nelliel, Aizen, Szayel, and even Grimmjow, Ulquiorra and Ichigo. The concept of evolution is an important one to hollows as a whole. Grimmjow's backstory reveals a section of hollows cannibalize each other to evolve into Gillians, Adjuchas etc. It's proof that they are still bound by physical senses, and thus still trapped in suffering. This is a feature that’s exposed by Grimmjow's interactions with Shawlong and D Roy, and this is paralleled by one of Nnoitra's most important dynamics: the one with Nelliel. Nnoitra considers Nelliel his nemesis, and for a very clear reason (besides misogyny). She's stronger than him. But it's NOT just her strength he's looking at. It's also her disposition. She's the exact opposite of Nnoitra. She's more human than hollow. She doesn't kill if she can avoid it. She has compassion for the lesser hollows. She values life over all else, as seen when she spares Nnoitra time and time again, even after he's attempted to kill her multiple times. It could be said that she's conquered the hollow nature. Besides her being Nnoitra's antithesis, there's another point of evidence for that, which ties into the concept of evolution. In Grimmjow's interactions with other Adjuchas, its revealed that if any part of an Adjuchas is consumed/lost, they can never evolve further. We see a similar situation brought about by Nnoitra as he takes a chunk of Nelliel by catching her off guard. Her mask is damaged, she loses her memory, and most importantly, she displays a regression. She turns into a child. The difference is that she doesn't regress into a Gillian, and that she is able to evolve again and regain her adult form. As someone who's conquered the hollow nature, evolution and spiritual growth isn't foreign to her like it is to other hollows. She acts as the perfect foil to Nnoitra, whose praying mantis imagery symbolises stillness, as previously mentioned, the opposite of evolution. It's no coincidence that the other person involved in Nnoitra and Nelliel's interactions also has something to do with evolution. Sayelaporro Granz helped Nnoitra catch Nelliel off guard to injure her grievously enough to turn her into a child. He is a character obsessed with perfection, which could be called the end of evolution shown in his dynamics with Mayuri. Nnoitra adds the element of hollow nature to his characterization, which is something that is often overlooked about Szayel. Nnoitra's ties to the concept of evolution have implications for Grimmjow and Ulquiorra too. Grimmjow's desire to be king stems from his origin as a lowly hollow who consumed his way to the top. This origin puts into perspective the nature/nurture commentary that is introduced in his dynamic with Ichigo. As Grimmjow slowly quells his hollow nature, Ichigo slowly explores his own nature as part hollow

Harsh Sharma

It's not as upfront as One Piece and Naruto unfortunately, it get's much deeper at times, but it's subtle. If someone is not into it and just want to get it done with, be it fatigue or mind being preoccupied, they should just drop it because it is not doing anyone justice.

Dimitron

I agree with your point, that's the reason why Bleach is my favorite but I really think they shouldn't drop it. If they drop it now when they return to it they will have forgotten a lot of things and it ruins the momentum. If they read the comments now they will definitely change the way that they view some of the episodes, if you remember at the start they were always trying to come up with new theories and predictions, so clearly they are interested in understanding Bleach's writing on a deep level. I just think that the start of Hueco Mundo that had slow pacing and some fights that were too long(like the Ishida and Renji fights) threw them off. Now however that the more important stuff is coming, they will probably start focusing more on what's happening.

Pandrix

Yeah, It doesn’t help that the anime added so much comedy and filler scenes. The manga is absolutely peak! And conveys the story better since it has all the poems and subtext

Patrone07

I understand what your trying to say but I believe your being a bit overly dramatic because honestly this fight was dragged on between different scenes then finally coming back to it I don't think they missed the message or anything like that people can receive a message and not really care for it which is fine especially when you genuinely don't like the character and as far as reaction speak for your self in my opinion it was fine 😂 Nothing made me feel like oh they should stop reacting to it 😂 it's obvious they enjoy they don't have to be full of excitement and empathy every episode 😅

Dimitron

The poems are some of my favorite things about Bleach. Also the speeches like Uraharas speech to Ichigo about fear which has honestly helped my personal life, Mayuri's speech about perfection to which was like 2 episodes ago. I watched the anime but I will go back and fully read the manga this time.

Dimitron

Exactly, the start of Hueco Mundo was kinda dragging on with some of the fights, from this point on the pacing is better. I also kinda didn't pay much attention to detail on the first watch during this part but now that I am rewatching I picked up on stuff that I didn't before. It is their first watch so they will for sure miss some things.

Harsh Sharma

Ah fair, I get your point! We all want the same thing, for them to enjoy it and not it feel like a drag. I couldn't care less about them not liking Nnoitra, because I dont either. But hopefully they enjoy reacting to it, like how engaged they were during the soul society arc. Apologies for sounding dramatic!

Patrone07

They don't remember who they were beforehand that's not how it works and I think you guys are missing the point if a guy goes around murdering woman and children for sport having fun then you read about it in the paper that he was bullied your not gonna get mad at people and say your missing the point he got bullied and blame people for not caring as much as you are you ?

Dimitron

Nah It's good you gave some solid criticism and weren't rude about it. They can take the constructive criticism and keep in mind how Bleach's writing is done, so that when they get to the important parts they enjoy them. Even if they miss some stuff we could always comment about them and they'll address and talk about those hints in the next Bleach drop.

Ken Lang

Patrone07, ironically you missed MY point lol. If you read my comment again, you'll see my call out was that they missed the sentiment behind Nnoitra's flashback. I did not encourage them to care for him, have sympathy, or agree with his reasons. This conversation is about the nuanced storytelling going over their heads, not a call to side or sympathize for Nnoitra.

Harsh Sharma

Good point! Cool I will keep that in mind

Ken Lang

So from all the comments I've read, I can tell I'm not the only one who feels this way but it does seem like Ron and Michelle either haven't been tuned in lately or they just don't get subtle nuanced storytelling in Bleach. Lots of ambiguity goes over their heads with no initial reaction when it happens and no conversation about it post-episode review. Ex instead of "Ohhh that's why he's like that he feels looked down on and hes willing to hurt people before they hurt him type of thing but it's too bad he's an a**hole you kinda feel bad for the way he is but then you don't" we instead got more of "man that was like a 3 ep long fight they really milked it" and it's like ahhh....man that's all you guys got to say about Nnoitra's story dang....And that's ok! That's the beauty of being a reactor. Some might not pick up things as much as others. And that's also why we have a community to talk about it! Hopefully they read all of our comments regarding the sentiment of Nnoitra and Nel's flashback and disregard the rude comments.

Burn7G

Yes, the translators will often take liberties with things like that. For better or for worse.

Narwaldo

Kenpachis ultimate technique: TWO HANDS!!

Patrone07

Sorry but clearly you missed my point because if they clearly seen it and didnt really go into depth about it then doesnt that fall under my point of just not really giving a shi.... Lol why because they really didn't like this character which they emphasized many times

Desolation Row

The length of these fights is purely because of the usual pacing for its time, same as we faced before. I imagine if it was out nowadays the same way as TYBW arc it would be a such banger. Hopefully they will do a proper remake with no censorship and cut off the drag. Btw one of my favorite fights, especially when watched separately, kinda makes you pity Nnoitora

Adams

been waiting for the next mini arc

Adams

Na to beat a beast you need to send the king of the beasts

kidBuku

I see what you’re trying to to say, but Nnoitora only showed up as significant antagonist the moment after the fight with grimmjow. There was not enough build up for the viewers to care about his character in a way that warranted any significant analysis. If anything the flashbacks do more work of building up Nels character.

kidBuku

A lot of Sore Losers have inferiority complexes.

Ken Lang

I told someone else this but my criticism is not about caring about Nnoitra's character, showing sympathy for him or anything to do with how long he's been presented. It's about Analysis on what's going on in the episode itself and reviewing the episode for what it is. In essence basically what me and others are trying to point out is they're not talking about what they watched and the feeling it gives off is maybe they're not paying attention, maybe they tuned out, maybe stuff just goes over their heads. I've seen them in the past spend a good chunk of time in soul society arc providing their thoughts, theories and breakdowns on what they watched and it had NOTHING to do with how long a character has been "built up" shown on screen or any of that. But like I said in another post that's the beauty of being a reactor. Some will pick up on things that others don't. Some will care more or care less about a particular episode/fight/arc and that's ok!

Satanas Gringo

Nnoitra was a good villain ,and nice figth 🗣️🔥

Ken Lang

No no Patrone07 brother your point of "just not really giving an ish" was what we're all speculating here all along lol. So your point actually is in agreement with mine. It has less to do with his character. Again, I was having a conversation about them not talking about what they just watched. They've given their thoughts and theories on characters they disliked before. But the heart of the matter is, for whatever reason they didn't review much of this episode. It could be like you say they don't give an ish, it could be nuance storytelling going over their heads, it could be they've been tuned out lately. They've been like this for awhile and it wasn't just regarding Nnoitra. Again, it's about reviewing what you just watched in general...I will say it a thousand times, it's NOT about Nnoitra. He is just an example because he's in this episode! You're in another niche conversation sub-topic brother!

kidBuku

I mean you can’t dictate how they react to any individual part of the story. At the end of the day it’s all about interest. They talked about things longer and analyzed other parts of the show longer because it was more interesting to them. At the end of the day they are REACT YouTubers not analysis YouTubers. There are whole other channels dedicated to analysis and picking apart the details and nuance of different parts of different shows. If your desire is for them to talk more about the episodes that’s a whole different matter. But you can’t do anything to force them to be more interested in this particular part or character.

Areez Memon

number 4 fight is by far the best one in this whole arc, you haven't seen anything like it.

I_am_Knowledge

What do you call cooked a “Rice & Ginger?”🫠 I don’t know but this comment section does

Arz.09

Ion think people get how wild it is that Kenny just grabbed bros cero. Most captains would have to deflect it with their sword but he just straight up grabbed ts.

Captain Usopp aka God Usopp

cmon u know why this fight is dragged on right?even the writer have no power to control on Kenpachi his loves of fighting, gotta respect that bro

Arz.09

Idk man I like a lot of the og fights abit better then someone the tybw fights

Kayso

When Treachery (which is Aizen's theme) played as Nnoitra released his resurrección 🔥 And "Fight to the death" played during Kenpachi Kendo scene. Bleach osts are so hard. What I loved about this fight is the grittiness, great back and forth and it never let up on the action

Wynter

Despised Nnoitora but his conclusion was done SO well here that for a moment I actually kinda liked him. And pity him ofc to an extent. The fight did seem a little dragged, but the entire last like 5 or 10 minutes made up for it. Him and Szayel were like the 2 psycho bad guys of the Espada that ruined Nelliel’s life, so having them be taken out back to back was satisfying. Anyway we got 4 more Espada, who are on an ENTIRE different level than the previous ones, so it’s about to get crazyyyyy 🙏

Masked Void

[Tidbits] - Nnoitra's release is "Pray ... Santa Teresa" he is a Praying Mantis, which has 6 legs, so here he has 6 arms. The Praying Mantis symbolism also explains his instinctive hate towards women who are stronger than him. Female Praying Mantis' devour and eat the Males after mating, they are the dominant of the two sexes and male mantis are destined to be overpowered and killed by the female Mantis. - Another interesting aspect of Nnoitra is the constant moon symbolism. His Blade is basically 2 Crescent Moons, his horn is also a Crescent Moon, and his collar is a Full Moon. Nnoitra is, on more than 1 occasion, visualized as being under the moon. In his flashback, he's sitting under the moon alone in the dark. The Idea being expressed is that Nnoitra is someone who metaphorically reaches for the moon, yet he cannot grasp it (You see this when he constantly claims to be the strongest) This is Nnoitra's true fear; he's not simply misogynistic, but rather he's a pathetic man, afraid because he knows he can never reach Nel. She's above him like the moon, and he feels the full weight of being inferior, an insignificant bug to be preyed upon. Nnoitra is a character who reaches for the moon; he seeks to be the strongest and claims to be as much, though he knows deep down that he can never reach it, so he targets the weak to feel as though he's actually the strongest. Nnoitra's mistake is in believing that Strength is measured by what you can take from others vs something that's more internal. Nnoitra is physically strong, but he's weak on the inside (As Nel properly suggests) There is more to it, but I don't want to make this comment even longer than it already is lol.

John Smith

He doesn't target people weaker than him. He's just nihilistically sadistic because he doesn't think life has any meaning or value. His whole aspect is despair, and there's also some telling moments where you can argue he's not misogynistic, but said that to save face instead of admitting how suicidal his outlook, which he later did, once he trusted Tesla enough. He believes that living as a hollow is pointless, the very essence of hell, or purgatory, after death. He's the mantis that *cannot die*, even though he wishes it. The reason of his hatred of Nel, but not e.g Halibel, is because Nel specifically denies him this release. Hence, despair. It's written very ambiguously, on purpose. This one of the deepest, if not the deepest, layered Espada but people are happy to superficially label terms., call it depth and forget.

B

Bleach as a power scale is stronger then one piece, so objectively kenpachi wipes hawkeye (not saying he’s a better character/has a better show just saying who is actually stronger)

Masked Void

Well, the aim isn't always meant to make you care about a character. When approaching themes, it's often about understanding a perspective, and this is often done in Bleach. If you're an attentive viewer or reader, then you are constantly looking for that content. However, it's understandable when people miss that when they are casually watching, especially in the case of anime where production affects engagement, and Bleach, like most dated long-running anime, has its share of distractions production-wise.

Ken Lang

kidBuku - Brother when did I ever say anything to attempt to dictate, force, or make them care about anything? We’re having a fun conversation here giving our opinions on how we felt the reaction was. I was disappointed about their post-reaction thoughts and the Nnoitra flashback and voiced my criticism accordingly which I am allowed to do. I also think you took the word “analysis” out of context of what I was trying to say. I’m not dictating or forcing them to do anything. Look back at any of comments. I wasn’t the one making suggestions to drop Bleach. I’m allowed to give my opinion. We got what we were presented, it gave some of us the vibe that they’ve tuned out, and we responded accordingly. That’s the beauty of having a comment section and a community. We have these fun conversations. Let’s keep the “dictation and forcing them to do stuff” out of here. No one is gonna hold them hostage and make them do nothing don’t you worry.

Sammy

I'm crossing my fingers for a TYBW-like remake of OG Bleach (🤞🤞🧡) but I'd already be happy with a simple remastered version where all the filler and drags are cut out

지원

I feel like some of the comments are getting a bit harsh..? 😢 Feedback is great, but I hope no one crosses the line. Let’s try not to hurt each other’s feelings! After all, we all joined the membership because we enjoy their reactions, right?

Volt

I know, I'm saying thats not what Nnoitora is as you'll see next episode

Bim Skuddi

Nnoitra could be Michelle’s brother Also, I unironically think that Ron told Kenpachi to smile over 20 times but I haven’t counted

idkwhy

I love how Nel said, "You are weaker than me" (and as a stronger one, I have to protect you because we are all hollows and should support each other), and Nnoitra never understands this and takes it as disrespect on her part. That's why she also called him a mere child

Sammy

If the drawn-out scenes are bothering you (and I don't blame you - the studio really stretched out this and the following arc), I highly recommend doing triple drops! It def would improve your viewing experience 🤗

kidBuku

Y’all keep talking about them missing things. You’re assuming that they’re missing things or tuning out. They don’t have to care about the same things yall care about. And if they don’t care about a certain theme or idea or concept that exists within a character they won’t say anything about it. You’re assuming they don’t get the nuance. Whole time they might just not care about it. Yall kept talking about how they didn’t have to care about certain things. But the things they care about define how they will react and respond to them. There different aspects of this show that are more interesting to me than what might be interesting to other people. Just because they don’t respond how I expect them to respond doesn’t mean they’re tuned out. They might just gravitate towards something different than you or I do.

Daniel Walker

A bit of a psychological explanation between Nel's and Nnoitora's "relationship" is that she always viewed him as a (self-)destructive beast who caused harm to himself and others around him. He was not only weaker than her as an Espada but also mentally, which is why she kept tagging along hoping he would change eventually or possibly that she could change him. Nel's narrative keeps repeating in these flashbacks, where she says she shows gratitude for achieving a higher status of SELF and critical + moral thinking, understanding where she came from and what it means to be a "lower level" Hollow, while Nnoitora did not care for any of that. Their polar opposite views of Being and Life is what their "relationship" is supposed to represent, which is most visible in their behaviour towards each other.

znake

Bleach has 0 plot armor.

Tingz

Lol Mihawk gets obliterated...a captain from bleach solos the whole one piece verse Ron. Just so you know bleach is 2nd strongest verse after dbz so you can put that in perspective. Comparing one piece characters strength to bleach is an embarrassment. Love Mihawk tho

Noizon

crazy calling this 'milked out' he revealed himself in Hueco mundo like 3 eps ago lmao

Noizon

Might be time for the "mental health week' after that lmao

Revolution To Evolution

"I finally getting the hang of your hardness" He sure loves a good sword fight 😳😳😌😌

ava_aster_parmessur

nah nel should have finished this guy a long time ago. she's too kind

Brandocommando

Right now As a whole I don’t think one piece verse would be able to touch the bleach verse within a 10 ft pole

Ken Lang

Yes. I listed those possibilities…you’re only supporting my point. So what are we doing here? I’ll do you a favor brother cuz we’re starting to go in circles. You won’t have to worry about seeing my comments.

Kai

hawkeye gets one tapped lmao

wileykat

I think they just wanted the fight to be over quicker cuz they hate Nnoitora and he already fought Nel (and Ichigo kinda). Understandable cuz Nnoitora is a pathetic, pitiful villain/character and Kenpachi's such a beast.. the way this fight went has a lot more to do with Kenpachi and his love for the battle anyway. You have to allow it, he crossed two worlds to get to Hueco Mundo after all

wileykat

It's because the English subs are just a copy of what the dub actors say in the English voice track, they're not like the fansubs we grew up with

ra-TH_

They did stretch these put and butchered it compared to the Manga but it's still goated and gets better..

JustRojo

I’ll be honest, I really do like Bleach a lot. The fights are some of the best I’ve seen in any anime. But at the end of the day, I think I used to love Bleach more when I was younger. Now, it feels like it’s mostly about the fighting. And sure, that’s something a lot of people enjoy, I get it, but it feels like the story only progresses through battles happening almost every episode, and not much else really goes on. Compared to One Piece, Naruto, and Dragon Ball Z, yes, of course, those stories also move forward through fights like most shonen do, but at least they balance it with proper storytelling, world-building, and emotional moments. With Bleach, after a while, it starts to feel a bit one-dimensional. That’s not me thrashing the show or anything, it’s just my honest opinion. I still enjoy Bleach regardless, and to be fair, I have my issues with One Piece, Naruto, and DBZ too. So it’s not a personal attack, just how I feel about it 🙏🏼🥲

Respect but I disagree, Bleach has lots of depth and layers that are very nuanced most of its writing is subtextually woven into the narrative not spoonfed like Naruto or OP, love those as well. Kubo’s narrative is uniquely poetic, weaving symbolism directly into the character arcs and overarching world, like the use of Neliel and Nnoitra’s poems to reveal their internal struggles and philosophies. Bleach often relies on implied meaning, dropping major hints about character motivation and trauma in dialogue, flashbacks, and even in how battles are staged. Many of its emotional moments and thematic explorations are indirect, revealed through nuanced interactions rather than straightforward exposition. This subtle delivery asks the viewer to engage more thoughtfully with the story, rewarding careful viewers with an experience far deeper than surface-level fights. Characters in Bleach deal with external enemies but also with profound inner turmoil Ichigo’s journey is shaped by grief, identity, and learning to balance his human, Soul Reaper, and Hollow sides. Enemies and allies alike are complex, often embodying paradoxes that touch on universal truths about growth, perfection, and despair. The arc of hollow evolution itself is an allegory for spiritual struggle, shown with careful detail through conflicting characters like Szayel and Neliel. Every major fight serves as a narrative turning point, setting up new lore and evolving the cast emotionally. Instead of just propelling the plot, battles are woven into Bleach to symbolize philosophical and psychological journeys. These layers of world building, character nuance, and subtext form a tapestry that’s distinct in anime, making Bleach’s storytelling much richer and more rewarding than it’s given credit for. Far from being one dimensional, it’s packed with storytelling, metatext, and emotional resonance that leave an impact on those who look beneath its surface Bleach is a story not simply about death but how to tackle nihilism, how to find purpose.

Bleach definitely has some deep ideas about identity and purpose, but it doesn’t always handle them consistently. The earlier parts of the story balance emotion, character growth, and action really well, but later on it becomes more focused on fights and big moments. There are still powerful themes and great character moments, but they come and go instead of feeling steady throughout. Even Kubo mentioned that parts of the story were pushed to be more battle-heavy, which makes sense when you look at how the pacing changes over time. Some fights actually mean something deeper, but a lot of them just exist to raise tension or show off power rather than move the story forward. And while Bleach tries to be subtle, sometimes it ends up leaving emotional storylines unfinished or barely explored. So yeah, it has meaning beneath the surface, but it’s not always consistent. It shifts between being really thoughtful and just being cool to watch, which is fine, but that’s why I don’t see it as deeply layered all the time.

I get where you’re coming from about the pacing and the shift to more battles later on in Bleach. Kubo did mention that the story became more battle heavy as it progressed. But for me, that’s where a lot of the deeper themes and character development happen through the fights themselves, which often carry symbolic meaning and subtle storytelling. I think Bleach does a great job mixing intense action with emotional and philosophical layers, even if it’s not always upfront or consistent. Sometimes the quieter moments or the lore behind the fights reveal a lot about identity, conflict, and growth if you pay close attention. It’s definitely a unique style compared to other shonen, and I really appreciate how it encourages viewers to dig beneath the surface. It’s also a downside for people that don’t look below the surface though

HAHAHA I’m dead 😂 you basically just called me dumb indirectly looool, no but I get you, I mean yeah writing so that you have to read between the lines and all is a great skill as a writer obviously but sometimes its a lost opportunity because bleach could have a much bigger fandom if sometimes those subtleties were either revisited more consistently or had been given more episodes to sit with and absorb, or otherwise sometimes should be brought more to the surface to really engage the viewers is all. Especially as reactors who’re watching many different anime’s together, those great writing subplots thrown in the background can often get missed which can be a shame you know?

Kenpachi full power is strongest than broly bro

Pandrix

Ohhh nahh it’s all friendly here, I’m just speaking generally to the people’s misconceptions of claiming “Bleach is jusy fights” or “Ichigo has no character” etc and I do agree with you it sucks that a lot of the nuances are just not even seen my most people I’d say. But Bleach is a story that’s lets you have your own interpretation so perhaps that’s what Kubo wanted as well. Who knows but I do know if OG Bleach had a remake I’m sure there’d be stuff Kubo would want to add especially because compared to the manga this anime doesn’t do it justice

When Ron said “Playtime’s over” when Ken was about to use Kendo🥲

Ken Lang

There is definitely world building in Bleach like no other, and it's so deep that many just simply miss it because of the nuance and subtlety injected by Kubo. It is his artistic strength and flaw.

LuvStarburst

His release is preying mantis so he is a bug.

kilo

ik you lyin bruv

Tacosareneat

18:20 ayyy ron with the "like toy soldiers" reference lmao. I love when ron recites Rap lyrics and Michelle is like "😐 what"

Miguel Nobre

Bleach is the 2 strongest verse ??? Are you crazy ?? You nee to watch more anime,Dbz is not even the strongest verse in anime

Miguel Nobre

Yall exaggerated so much, yes the Bleach verse overall is more powerful than One Piece and Naruto but ain no way you believe He would beat every single character of One Piece at the same time, that's just ridiculous

Maxxy

Respectfully, Jin Mori exists.

Franina

If they were struggling with these fights they’re not gonna survive the later one piece fights

Tingz

@Maxxy haven't seen God of high school @Miguel i guess im speaking more so mainstream (Dbz and the big 3 One Piece Naruto and Bleach) Every time someone says goku vs "insert name" goku always wins. Dbz known for just being the strongest unless its a verse idk about then fill me in. Dbz just seems the strongest. Ppl say Saitama would win but doubt it but my point still stands - dbz is one of the strongest verses along with bleach

Kris

I don't remember thinking fights dragged on. The second watch through was kinda like that. but not the first. sucks you guys feel that way.

XXI

yeah Rojo, its not for everyone and i like that. it might not be that for you, you might not see more beneath the surface. Kubo intentionally does that. The concepts and philosophies are mature and deep and i love those when you understand it. YaboyRockLee crew got it too when they do discussion. my only grief is that this studio keeps dragging on scenes like ron said 'extended version' XD

XXI

he cant even exist in the same space of Zaraki -_-

XXI

welp no surprise there. Oda didnt make 1piece that way. its just that audience keeps hyping up their world where Oda doesnt even mean that

XXI

not related but i like the YaboyRockLee crew post and pre discussion. They slowly get the underlying of Bleach and analyzing it

lordjaggi

with what we know from tybw it's clearly plot armor. Ichigo won because of the PLOT...

Ilsuk Yang

Kenpachi's like, "Look, 2 hands" 😂😂😂
