To reach the New World, they need to go through Fishman Island because the Red Line blocks the way. Hachi explained they could either leave the Sunny and get a new ship once they are in new world (not really an option) or go under the Red Line, which is why Rayleigh coated the Thousand Sunny.

About Caribou, there are 2 things you're fogetting. He has a bounty of 210 Million Berries and he is a Logia Devil Fruit user. The Supernovas, had from 111 Million Berries to 315 Million Berries. Law had 200 Million Berries, less than Caribou. Logia Devil Fruit is the stronger type of fruit and its users are intangible. Remember, Smoker, Ace, Crocodile, Enel, Aokiji, BlackBeard, Kizaru, Akainu are the Logia users that you know of and they are all extremely strong, and mainly because of the Fruit. The same can be said for Caribou. I would say that Caribou is at this point stronger than All of the strawhats except Luffy, Sanji and Zoro. I don't think anybody in the Ship would be able to defeat him. Not even Robin, Franky or Brook.

Important! One of the main plots of the story, is going to the last Island of the grandline, where people think is the One Piece. To travel the grandline you have to use the log poses and follow the islands magnetism to the next island. Fishman Island is the next island! Still, remember that the Grand Line is divided by two major sections. The Paradise and the "New World"(You know the name of Brook song! And where Ace and Lufffy, and Coby and Luffy, promised to meet. Also the place where the 4 Emperors of the Sea rule, instead of the Marines). In Sabaody Archipelago arc, it was explained, that it doesn't matter what route you choose at the beginning, at the middle point of the GrandLine every body ends up in Sabaody Archipelago .In reality it doesn't, because Sabaody Isn't an island is a Tree forest, so it doesn't have magnetism. So in fact they end with the Log Pose pointing to Fishman Island. To pass to the next section of the Grand Line, you have 2 options. Go up the Red Line, to Marijoa, the land of the gods, or go down to fishman island, with a coated ship.

Make sure you flag your opinions as opinions and not state them as facts. Making someone intangible has nothing to do with them being stronger first of all, replying to your argument of Logia users. Caribou is not even seen as a threat even by Chopper here, and he is hiding from Franky. Franky could legit toss that barrel outside of the bubble and Caribou is gone for good. What are you talking about? Intangibility means you can't even damage the person. Luffy entire reason for running from Smoker was the intangibility. Logia is said in series, that is the strongest Fruit Type. Also every user of Logia is real strong! The list of people that enumerated up there, is the entire list(minus Caribou), to this point, of Logia Users. They are all strong people. In fact they are all stronger than the people in the Ship right now. All the future Logia users shown, will be stronger than the people in the Ship, right now! Also the Swamp Swamp Fruit capabilities and dangers are not just the intangibility. And Caribou his a 210 Million bounty criminal, captain of a Supernova pirate crew! "Caribou is not even seen as a threat even by Chopper here". They literally said, that they were careless, and that if he wasn't idiot and had hidden in the barrel, they would all be in grave danger. Taken everything more that will be shown of Caribou, he is easily stronger than Everybody in the Sunny. Is not even a question.

They're following the log pose, They finished the first half of the grand line and arrived at the red line(The main linear piece of land that goes around the whole world). The only way passed the red line is over it(Marie Jois, home of Celestials is on top of red line), or under it which is through the trench and Fishman Island. They have to go through fishman to get to the second half of the Grand Line, known as the New World, so they can make it to the last island and find the One Piece!

other people have already explained it, but also I want to add that they were gonna go to fishman island after enies lobby arc, but then they got inercepted by the barrel luffy found which had a flare and attracted thriller bark (ep 337). then after finishing Thriller Bark, they made it to the red line (ep 385) trying to figure out how to get to Fishman Island but found camie and pappag who lead them to sabaody and then they all got separated. FMI is the next island on their log pose ever since water 7 but they go there because that is the only way for them to get to the new world (2nd half of the grand line)

It's simple: they can't cross the Red Line as normal people (through Marijois, the land of Celestial Dragons), coz they are outlaws and they would have to leave their ship. The only way for them to get to the New World, is to go to Fish-Man island and then back to the surface to the other side of the Red Line! Oh and yeah, it was the next island that their Log Pose showed, so they couldn't have gone to any other island, unless they had an Eternal Pose anyways. So there! dam i wanted to make it short, but ended up explaining everything hahaha they explained all that BEFORE they even met Caimie and Papaque and Hachi, before they got caught up with everything at Sabaody and you know the rest.... so finally our journey has resumed!

there are many reasons to go there: - there are only 2 roads to get to the New world from the Grand line, Fishmen island route or Marijoie so as pirates they have only one choice - Some crew members want to go there - Luffy is supposed to meet Jimbei there - the log pose points towards fishmen island (next island after water seven)

Did you read my comment or you just like to blabber? I don't even care what is considered to be the strongest devil fruit in the series. How would intangibility work in the depths of the sea? And sure you can't hit him, but what feats has he shown where he can dish out any damage? As far as "intangibility" is concerned, Enel's intangibility and Crocodile's intangibility has been shown to be negated without haki, there is a counter to everything. Caribou was not in a slight bit an important enough character to be explored that much. 'He is a super nova', like I care, all of the supernovas got there butt kicked by pacifistas so I don't consider them as a benchmark for anything. Caribou was a cowardly and incapable fighter who was trying to backstab and was easily subdued. Keep yapping.

You guys aren't dumb, you guys watch through tons of episodes of different animes everyday, it's natural to forget small details here and there especially from almost 200 episodes ago. The 2nd half of the Grand Line, aka the New World, lies on the other side of the Red Line (the enormous red-colored cliff that divides the entire ocean). The only known ways to progress forward is to either be allowed by the Government to climb over the Red Line or to travel underneath it via bubble coating. For pirates it's highly recommended to travel under the sea. Going above means dealing with many of the highest and most powerful government officials as well as abandoning your ship since it's not possible to bring it along. There's an opening within the Red Line near the very bottom which is exactly where Fishman Island is located. This is where the crew will be able to pass through and finally enter the New World.

From water 7, the log post directed them to fishman island.. but they got sidetracked to thriller bark and then in order to go to fishman island they have to go to sabaody... The only reason Michelle remembered hachi because hachi feels like have huge debt to strawhats because they help him and camie in sabaody..

“This world is crazy” -Michelle one of the points that ODA has tried to make is that ANYTHING you can imagine is possible I can say there is an island where people only wear pants as shirt, shirts as pants and shoes his hats their entire island is made out of hot Cheetos and they worship Chester the cheetah. Basically ODA has given fans the idea that the One Peice world is much larger than earths and anything no matter how serious or how ridiculous you imagine it can exist in the world of one Peice so me saying that make believe island It “Can” Exist in the world of One Piece. It’s a nice artistic way to engage with the audience sparking imagination and creativity such as the girl who made the island drawings in Robins Timeskip story. Something I should have realized but totally didn't think about is that once you go a certain distance down the ocean you no longer float and you just start sinking down as gravity starts to take hold of you. And thinking about trying to swim up but it becomes a practice of futility as you get dragged down the depths is not something I want to think about, its chilling😰
