I always wondered why Inoue didn’t protect him from the start and why she seemed so nervous when she did it because she already said she wasn’t scared of Ulquiorra and he stated he wouldn’t harm her, and I just recently realized it’s because she was nervous about how Ichigo would respond since she knew he wouldn’t want her to help him and she ended up being right since he told her to stand back instead of inviting her to help. Ironically she ended up being in more danger standing back than she would be if they fought together. Powers in Bleach rely a lot on your mental, so Inoue just half-heartedly attacking would not do anything to powerful characters she's under a lot of stress at this point and she is much more willing to defend others rather than attack/defend herself which is probably because she's a victim of childhood abuse with a low sense of self-worth.

Also what’s more clear to me in this rewatch is Ichigo and Inoue have terrible communication with each other in this part and they could have really benefited from having Nel with them as their counselor again. Ichigo doesn’t hollowfy because she “probably” won’t be able to block his spiritual pressure and instead of asking her if she can or trusting her to handle it, he just gets beat up and pretends nothings wrong because that’s easier for him, Inoue wants to fight together with him/protect him but stays silent because she understands that he doesn’t want help and won't try to change his mind, so she poorly attempts to ignore her concern and spectates instead.

Lets gooo we're finally here What I love is how the show makes the Ichigo vs Ulquiorra fight feel more than just “hero vs villain.” Before the real battle starts, Bleach is quietly setting up a clash of ideologies. Ichigo is all movement, emotion, and evolution he changes mid-fight, he reacts with his heart, and he keeps pushing forward no matter how grim things look. Ulquiorra is the opposite, he barely moves unless needed, he speaks in calm, empty logic, and he treats every emotional reaction as meaningless. It’s emotion vs nihilism. Even the environment reflects that. Las Noches is a giant symbol of emptiness white walls, artificial sky, no culture or warmth, which mirrors Ulquiorra’s worldview perfectly. Meanwhile Orihime’s torment isn’t just physical, it's an attack on her sense of worth, which ties into a recurring theme of the heart resisting dehumanization. There’s a ton of thematic layering happening here Love that you guys noticed the mask change a lot of people don't. Also Kubo loves his symbolism notice how Ulquiorra looks like fallen angel or even devil almost. His name Ulquiorra also is symbolic to the name "El due llora" which means "the one who cries" in Spanish. His release, named Murciélago (Spanish for "Bat"), transforms him into a bat-like creature. Bats are often associated with darkness, the underworld, isolation, and destruction themes that align with Ulquiorra's bleak, detached worldview. The design prominently uses white and black, which symbolize emptiness, death, despair, and a lack of emotional warmth. His green Reiatsu and green eyes are linked to indifference and a lack of empathy, a central tenet of his nihilism.

Bleach dub is goated just like Naruto. I always wanted Ron to hear how Ichigo sounds in dub and his VA Johnny Yung Bosch is a legend. I've seen him in person. He also voices Lelouche in dub. And in the dub Orihime doesn't say Kurosaki, she always says Ichigo. People tend to be annoyed with the constant Kurosaki kun a thousand times whereas in dub her always saying Ichigo isn't really bad. Not all people but from some comments I've seen before lol

there is a legitimate reason people complain about it. First of all people search for reactors based on if they watch dubbed or not. If your favorite dubbed reactor started watching subbed i would expect their chat to feel the same way. You call it supremacy but its just preference go watch someone who watches dubbed if that's what you prefer. Funimation especially assigns voice actors they dont audition so most of the roles don't feel natural. In japan they typically audition or find someone specific for a role so it fits better. It's one of the reasons you don't see people complain about certain shows such as invincible,batman and other u.s. cartoons as they actually auditioned for the roles. I understand its a bit annoying everyone bitches but its to be expected under these circumstance. Your being just as big an idiot as the people complaining by complaining about them complaining if not more. Imagine if your watching a DBZ creator who watches dubbed and on the episode goku goes Super saiyan they had to watch the episode subbed. People would be pretty upset by that. its no different here. Think outside your own perspective.

Honestly I'm not a dub fan but Ulquiorra VA is actually one of the better ones. Imo it's like 99% better than the other VA's for dubs. It's the only character I can see the voice sitting well and the VA did a good job imo.

I'm not just used to Japanese, I watch dubs with my kids a lot. Most of the newer ones are better quality, but this early 2000s stuff is so often flat and uninspired. To me, Ulquiorra is probably the worst performance in this arc as far as dub goes, and Grimmjow's is so generic and lacks the thuggish quality of the Japanese VA. He sounds almost the same as the guy doing Ishida's voice. Literally anti-swagger Some of them are ok, Johnny Young Bosch is ok (did great for tybw) but so many of the VAs sound phoned in in dub. Yammy VA in this arc is another good one, and Tosen.

Nothing wrong with people expressing their opinions. Just like you did yours. Someone does need to tell Ron though that a paid service to watch on doesn't ensure that the quality will be good too. 'Bootlegged' websites have almost always been better to watch anime on for years, they had built in features for QoL that were way beyond what crunchyroll ever put out. Like for example how fansub groups put way more effort into their projects to subtitle anime than CR, which even now, is trying to use AI subtitles that no one wants lol. Company's either treat anime as a cash cow (like CR) or compare that to the sites that let you pirate/view for free which are passion projects more than anything. Owners of those make money on visitor ads so they make the viewing experience on their site overall very good.

They are allowed to feel that way. Imagine it was your favorite show on a dubbed channel. Lets say dbz in this example and its the episode goku goes SS for the first time. BUT they have to watch it subbed. What it not be within reason that the entire channel would be pretty upset about it??? its an iconic moment that doesn't hit nearly the same on the sub. Its no different with this anime. The voices of this anime are iconic for the sub watchers and it was a very big moment in which the dub wasnt even accurately representing. They even cut out a few frames. if you want dubbed go find someone who watches dubbed.

Some shows like cyberpunk, dbz, or even aot can prove that dub can be good, but there are some shows like this where sub is not consistent. It just depends on the show and the vibe of the show. For example, a comedy anime might be better for dub.

This is not true, as expressed earlier in the story and by Aizen's words her powers are quite potent, the issue is her mentality. A mentality that correlates to her past, She was a child of abuse, which is why her brother took her and left, Orihime opposes violence or negative confrontation which tnegatively impacts her powers. She can literally reject phenomena, if she had the intent and will to harm (as she did with that hollow when she first got her powers) she could easily split people in half with her tsubaki. Her power do lend to combat, she hasn't progressed mentally to accept and properly use her powers for combat.

Secondly(and more importantly), they literally said that dub was the only option for this particular episode. Like Michelle mentioned it multiple times it was JUST this one episode. So all the crying and moaning and rudeness towards them about it has been out of pocket and embarassing. You all can survive 1 reaction of a dubbed episode they had no choice to react to.
