Espada Numbers only order the amount of spiritual power a member has with 0 being the most and 10 being the least, not necessarily how overall strong they are. Keep that in mind in regards of someone like Yammy (number 0).

I feel so bad for Stark and Harribel, two people who clearly do not want to fight/kill following Aizen's orders like it's their 9-5 for one reason or another when he isn't even worried about them at all. Harribel doesn't even start to fight Hitsugaya even half seriously until her fracciones were struck down by Yamamoto since it's her duty to fight for their sacrifice, and even now she has at least 3 chances to kill him and hasn't done it. Tbh I don't even think she's even fighting at full power she's just knocking him down and hoping he doesn't get back up like a mom that's tired of playtime. I do love that she wants all the smoke with Yamamoto for what he did tho nothing but respect for a get back demon

ngl, when I watched it for the first time and saw that Yammy is actually the Zero, I didn’t like it. It felt to me like an excuse, because all the bigger threats had already been taken care of, and suddenly… what now? “Let’s say Yammy is actually the strongest so we can create a new problem to resolve here while everyone else is fighting in the city.” But it is what it is… Some people will probably like it, but that’s my opinion.

Yeah it's more of an honour type thing, letting Toshiro have his fight or else what's the point of even having captains appointed if Yamamoto can do everything by himself

So here Starrk and Harribel aren’t fighting seriously. Both are Espada that hate pointless violence. Harribel only fights to protect her fracción, and Starrk is literally the Espada who least wants to kill anyone or even fight. They hold back because their personalities clash against the war they’ve been pulled into it’s subtle, but it shows the cracks in Aizen’s “perfect army.” Hitsugaya vs. Harribel isn’t just an ice vs. water match. It’s a clash of philosophies. Harribel’s aspect of death is Sacrifice, and she embodies it, calm, protective, willing to bear the pain herself. Hitsugaya is a child prodigy forced into the role of a captain, someone who must shoulder responsibility before he’s even emotionally grown into it. Their fight is really about two different kinds of leadership under pressure. The Barragan scenes deepen this theme. When he explains the Espada’s “Aspects of Death,” he’s not just bragging he’s revealing how each Espada died symbolically long before they ever met Aizen. These episodes are quiet but thematically heavy. The Espada aren’t just monsters, they’re reflections of the different ways beings respond to death, fear, and purpose. And in these fights, you start seeing which characters are fighting because they want power. And which are fighting because they don’t want anyone else to die. The espada are also foils of Aizen but ill go into that later

Ron - There was never an upgrade with Yammy, he was always number 10. He was one of the first Espada number reveals we got along with Grimmjow but I think you guys forgot/didn't notice the scene where his #10 was shown a while back. Then as it was explained this ep he's the only Espada that number changes to 0 when he releases his resurrección. And different characters have different color ceros. Ulquiorras cero was green

Barragan's speech about all the espadas philosophies about the aspect of death was dope. 293 is my all time favorite Bleach episode. Ofc its still peak afterwards but that's my episode. Can't wait till yall witness peak soon

I believe, Aizen ranked the Espada by their max potential not the base power, and we know Ira translates to rage, Yammy’s potential is tied to how angry he gets.

I’m sorry Ron to say but the broncos have a ceiling as long as their offense is limited w Bo but I will say they got some dawgs on defense between them and the Texans for number 1 D prolly need to go out and get Bo a number one receiver or he just has to take a big jump for them to get to the next level

I remember again how those fight go on and on. Everybody got another trick up his sleeve and they explain literally everything. I really like all the fights but they could have been so much shorter 😂

& it was retconned later on. originally was ranked by strength/powerscale later changed to spiritual power amount/reaitsu to make yammy 0. yammy even with infinite rage would never beat 1-8. MAYBE he can take 9.

Ngl i dont think michelle understands shonen author. The reason yamamoto doesnt jump in is same reason why Shanks or Dragon never appears. Author want a specific character to get a spotlight (Toshiro, Hallibel) So uh unless its yamamoto turn, then dont expect him 😂. If i have to make up a in-universe reason, yamamoto saving his strength for Aizen

To be fair I think it's a problem that Yamamoto is just stood watching and doing nothing. Shanks and Dragon don't do anything because they aren't at the battlefields so theres no expectation but Yamamoto is doing nothign and in the cuck chair lol. I don't think it would be a problem if he had his own enemy to fight or something that's keeping him busy.

There is actually a few reasons for Yama staying on the sides for one his power would be too overwhelming for everybody there. Yamamoto’s Shikai alone puts allies at risk. He is also the last line of defense to prevent Aizen from reaching the real KK town, he's also keeping watch of Aizen thats the reason Aizen himself isn't making any rash moves. Letting the captains fight is part of his growth. Which shows, faith in his officers, understanding that the younger generation needs to grow

you are completly overstepping, your calling them slow for being frustrated that yamamoto isn't helping with the fight. They understand yamamoto is letting the captains fight their own battles, but that doesn't mean they can't be frustrated due to the lack of initiative of yamamoto. We all know how strong and capable he is, if he took up his sword he would wipe the espada in seconds but it truly comes down to the writing of bleach. Its a classic anime trope that realisticly would not happen, a leader would not stand there and watch his subordinates fall. Its for the sake of the story, and has the right to be questioned by viewers even if its needed for development.

honestly i agree with this comment not cool for him to say slow but at the same time i get it you guys are use to fast pace good animation anime but bleach requires a better understanding of the show .. like the guy sometimes forgest characters names or doesnt know what he is talking about ... and that's ok and its not just this anime is most of them . but still love them reacting to stuff like this

To be fair the hueco mundo arc was pretty long and you don't see a lot of the characters for a while so its pretty common not remember all of them. This is the arc where a lot of characters have their big moments so it will be fine as they should be able to call back to those moments to remember the names in the future.
